eBay Global Collections is asking me for money
Hello,
THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THIS ACCOUNT, I HAD TO SET UP A NEW ACCOUNT BECAUSE EBAY SUSPENDED MY ACCOUNT.
I find it incredibly irksome that I cannot speak to a human being at all at eBay and I need to speak to somebody to resolve this ASAP. In April of this year, I placed an ad on eBay which I had never done before I was completely new to eBay I have never used the service before and I must have stuck out like a sore thumb because I got scammed by a scammer and scammed out of sending my Xbox to a scammer who not only scammed me out of an Xbox but also scammed me out of money.
I have correspondence between myself and the person who scammed me out of my Xbox and to make matters even worse eBay suspended my eBay account and said that I had scammed a customer, I tried to contact eBay but I had no support from them whatsoever because as far as they were concerned I scammed a buyer who went through eBay to purchase my Xbox legitimately and now I have eBay Global Collections are requesting payment from me when I had forgotten to put my bank details on my eBay account? Therefore, there was no interaction between myself, and the buyer and no monies changed hands which I why I am confused as to why eBay Global Collections is contacting me for an outstanding payment when I had forgotten to put my bank details on my eBay account.
On the 23rd of March 2024, I placed an ad on eBay to sell my Xbox and immediately I was contacted by somebody who was interested in my Xbox unbeknown to me at the time this was the start of the scam and there is correspondence between myself and the scammer on eBay and then outside of eBay using Gmail and I still have that correspondence from Gmail, however, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Gmail account was fake and being routed through another email service pretending to be Gmail of course, I cannot access my account as you suspended my account because as far as you were concerned I had scammed a legitimate customer and that wasn’t the case as I was the victim here, not eBay. And now I have eBay Global Collections requesting payment from me when no money exchanged hands between myself and the legitimate buyer because I forgot to put my bank details on my account.
I contacted my local police constabulary to report that I had been the victim of a scam, and they informed me that I had to report this to Action Fraud as this was a civil matter, I reported this to Action Fraud, and I have a reference number to prove that I had indeed reported this to them. It was PayPal who informed me that I had been scammed because I received a suspicious email from PayPal that looked very dodgy, I spoke to them a few times and all calls are recorded at PayPal and I am sorry I do not recall whom I spoke to at PayPal but as soon as I read the email out to them they immediately said that I had been scammed and I still have the scam email that was supposedly from PayPal I have the shipping label that I sent my Xbox to the scammer at an address that is probably also fake and eBay Global Collections are threatening me with Debt Collectors on an outstanding payment that no money changed hands, that’s the bit that I am utterly confused about, to be honest with you. I have the label from the parcel that I sent via DPD, I have confirmation that the parcel was signed from and delivered. I never received any money from the person who scammed me via eBay. And I have all the correspondence proof to prove that I was a victim of a scam. You are asking for payment on an account that you suspended so I cannot even access my account because you suspended my account?

·1 year agoWhat's really annoying is these emails from eBay Global requesting money. EBay has my bank account details and have taken any fees, over and above what they owe me for over 20 years from my account so, I don't believe these stupid emails from eBay Global. The admin at eBay is like the management at eBay, which is all over the place. They are only interested in money instead of doing something well, hence the continual problems with software and communication.

the emails. Are they from eBay or a scammer pretending to be eBay.
Are the messages in your eBay message mailbox? Or did it come to
JUST your email?

·2 years agoYou made a listing but forgot to add your checking account to get paid.
Instead you gave the buyer your PayPal address so you could receive the payment directly from PayPal. I guess you thought you could outsmart eBay and avoid their fee by doing that. But the buyer tricked you with a fake payment notice from PayPal. Ironic, huh?
You got suspended by eBay for taking the payment off of eBay. eBay still wants to be paid.
You need to pay Global Collections.
And you're still breaking eBay policy by creating another account after your account was suspended.
I'm sorry you were scammed out of your Xbox.
Some of us see that as rough justice. You were trying to scam eBay by not giving them your checking account and look what happened.

"Placing an ad on Ebay"? Do you mean you listed an Xbox on Ebay and it was purchased? Did you ship to the address on the order?

AND you "FORGOT" to add bank information?!?!?

The US doesnt use PayPal for payments and a seller would not receive an email from PayPal.
You have violated eBay policy over and over again.
You have put it in writing that you violated policy.
Any attorney for eBay would be so glad you posted this if they see it.
If the debt collectors are wanting payment you need to contact them.
It has gone way to far at this point.
In the US you have a chance to dispute the charges with the debt collector. If you can prove you paid or dont owe they will send the proof to eBay.
Again, Im not sure where you really are but you should work with the debt collector.
eBay is not here so saying "you asked for payment" is not true.
No one here has asked for your payment.

They just might receive such an email. It would be fake of course since it appears a likely result of the newbie seller responding to a "text me/email me" scammer. Reading the OP, it is conceivable they met up with a "change of address" scammer as well.

·2 years ago@ittybitnot - a US seller on eBay will not get an email from PayPal.
Since this "seller" appears to be violating many policies then maybe a scammer did get them.
It still would not have to do with eBay.

When you sell anything on eBay or any similar platforms, they are providing you a service. It is not free. EBay is a business, eBay is not a charity. Their share is generally about 13% of the total transaction. You availed yourself of the service and they have the legal right to be paid. They still provided the service. They connected you with millions of buyers. You squandered the opportunity by going rogue and violating the process. You used the service regardless if you made a mistake.

It is against eBay policy to message outside of the platform. This is clearly stated in the user agreement which you clicked you understood. EBay is a business. If you contact buyers outside of eBay you can take the sale off eBay they have no way to collect their cut of the money. Any adult should get that concept.
The rules are meant to be followed to protect you, protect the buyer and protect eBay.
