ebay gives out the wrong adress for buyer

Clearly some sort of database issue on their end.

Returning customer from the Netherlands suddenly has a Swedish woman's name and lives in a swedish street in Switzerland.

There are several lines of input in the address field.

One input in the database for instance is for the street name, another for the postal number etc and this is a complete mishmash of an address. Why would he change his address to that of a Swedish woman, a Swedish street name a, a swizz district and Switzerland as his home country?

This is most likely a database error on ebays part, not unlike the one I have personally seen where it says I am logged in with a different user ID. It really can't be anything else.

I had a buyer's account get hacked. They ordered a book from me and it got sent to his name but an address in Florida. When I googled the address, it was an outfit that was involved in all sorts of hacking, including this scam.

They were also investigated for credit card fraud, etc.  They had been reported many times but were still in business. They usually did this scam with iPhones. I don't know why they scammed a 1974 book on repairing Subarus.  EBay told me to contact the buyer and tell him to file an item not received and change his passwords. I turned this in to eBay and my local postmaster.

ebay gives out the address on file as entered by the registered user. Nothing wrong was provided by ebay. The buyer perhaps failed to update prior to purchase. That is a personal responsibility issue with consequence.

Ebay doesn't put the name and address on the order... the BUYER does.

It's amazing how people need to blame ebay instead if chalk it up to human error.

Better they blame ebay than blame the seller. There's been a few times I get heckled by buyers saying something like "It's your fault you got the wrong address so I need my money back. I never gave you that address, plus I never even lived at that house for decades now."

Yes, my superpower is knowing people's prior addresses.

His story is that "he hates ebay sometimes".

I remember something similar a while back where my login information displayed some other random user as well. I did not have the rights or access to that individuals account, but nonetheless it was a serious security issue, as is this.

Kinda fascinating that such problems exists on a platform of this magnitude.

It's just as likely that they had previously used that address to send another thing they ordered to someone else. Then when they bought yours they forgot to change the address back to their own.

Maybe he hates eBay because he forgot he needed to confirm the address he was providing in checkout?
