Ebay gave me a permaban on selling...my journey selling so far.
I have been reselling shoes on stockX and Alias/Goat for the last 7 months. And all my shoe reseller buddies have told me how awesome ebay is for any sort of overstock we might have. Let me be clear, all we are doing is buying direct from big box stores when the shoes are on sale and then reselling them later for a profit (retail arbitrage). So there is no chance for fakes. I also have started to dabble in collectibles lately as I recently went to flip some of the hype booster boxes from Sorcery a Realm Contested Alpha boxes.
After doing a successful flip of the sorcery boxes (to the tune of close to $2700 after fees) I started getting additional forms that I needed to fill out which was expected. Then low and behold I made a sale of one of the crocs that I was trying to sell. Unfortunately I had just run out of stock of that size so I immediately gave a refund within an hour of the sale.
A couple days later I got a notification from ebay trust and safety that I needed to provide proof of identity, invoices showing that I purchased these shoes etc., Which all seemed extremely reasonable. So I uploaded this information and immediately was hit with a permaban for selling no appeals allowed. I have spent countless hours online with support and explained the situation and they said I had a single appeal left. I also found out that the issue with the invoices that I sent in was a single invoice from finish line didn't have my CC information attached to it.
After an initial moment of panic, I called another CSR and we spent the next 90 minutes on the phone showing every possible piece of information that trust and safety could possibly need to resolve this issue. All CSRs with the exception of one have agreed with my position and are not sure why I would be hit with a perma ban on selling. Ohh and by the way, I can still be a buyer...which is super weird to me.
The biggest issue that I have is that ebay is currently holding my almost $2700 and I have to wait for upto 6 months to get the cash. Also if you guys check my account you will see I have a 100% positive feedback rating with no complaints. By the way, I have had no prior warnings at all, no issues and I"ve been on ebay since 2017.
Not sure what else can be done.

OP3 years agoAlso just FYI Ebay Business Support on Facebook doesn't have access to see the document uploads so...that was a good try but didn't work.

·3 years agoMany retailers don't allow customers (including yourself) to buy large quantities of sale items from their stores for purchase or reselling in order to keep sufficient quantities on hand for the rest of their customers who may want to buy those products.
What you are doing is a form of drop shipping except you are buying the items and shipping them to customers yourself.
Drop shipping is not allowed on Ebay from online marketplaces or retailers, only wholesalers.

I"m not doing any direct shipping from another retailer or marketplace. I"m purchasing from the retailer, receiving the item and then selling it once in town.

·3 years agoSellers with an RA business model at risk of conflicts with Ebay's anti-counterfeiting efforts.
There has been an increase in the number of sellers like yourself who are being permabanned.
There has been no announced change in policy, but the existing policies are vague enough to allow Ebay great flexibility.
I suggest that RA of products which are known to have counterfeits in the market is too high a risk for any Ebay seller. Of course, other marketplace sites like Amazon and Walmart, will probably not even allow you to list those items when purchased from a retailer.
Ebay is attempting to convince buyers that it is as safe to buy from as those other sites.

OP3 years agoI have wondered if I got a VERO ban as well, but nothing talks about VERO at all in any of the documentation.

·3 years agoIf, by retail arbitrage, you mean you are drop shipping the shoes from another site when they sell on Ebay, thats not allowed here. If you used the out of stock option for those crocs you sold, thats the kiss of death for any seller here, and you received a major defect to your account. You can go to your seller dashboard and check for defects there. All I can tell you about your funds, is, if you never receive them, check your states unclaimed property in a year or so. Good luck.

OP3 years agoNo I am buying directly from crocs when they have sales and discounts and once I have them in hand I listed them on ebay. Same exact thing I do on StockX and Goat and Alias. I don't buy from 3rd party because I worry too much about fakes.

·3 years agoI would guess that if you had them in hand then you would not have needed to cancel as out of stock and that is why ebay started asking for all this information and got the ball rolling.

Very sorry for your situation. Here's what is going on with eBay, especially where new sellers are concerned. You start selling HIGH DOLLAR items in multiples right off the bat. Big red flags will come up every time, especially if you're a new seller. eBay has so much stolen merchandise being sold on this site the law is pushing hard for eBay to watch closely and curb this type of selling behavior. Ports and train robberies are out of control in this country, so eBay is doing what it can do to put it to a halt. Not saying this is your situation, but know this is standard operating procedure in most cases where new sellers are concerned.

These are US CS agents who actually work for eBay and may better serve you and your situation. Make sure you have all your receipts for all the items you purchased as well as who the vendor was you purchased them from.

OP3 years agoYes I have spoken to two U.S. Based CSR so far and they have been wonderful. My account has literally everything myself and the CSR could think of. This was literally a one strike and out situation and I purchased these shoes DIRECT from Crocs and also FinishLine. They said because the FinishLine Invoice didn't have my card information shown, that this was what could have triggered the permaban.

·3 years agoI've heard that eBay on Facebook is the way to go for banned sellers. Much quicker, less stressful (if that is possible in this situation) experience. Quick answers, often reinstatement in a few days...

OP3 years agoIt's a good word. I"m not sure I will ever attempt to sell shoes again on ebay even if I was reinstated. But it would be nice to have my cash released.
