eBay forcing returns they shouldn't.....
I sold a brand new Gucci wallet on eBay as new for $480. Item went through authentication with no issue. I get a message from the buyer a few days after delivery stating they thought the wallet was bigger and they wanted to return it. Well this is outside of my return policy. I would also like to note I had a ruler next to the wallet in multiple photos and gave the dimensions in the description. The customer then opens a return request with eBay stating they think the wallet is used.... If the wallet had been used, It would NOT have passed eBays authentication verification. So now eBay is allowing them to return the wallet..... This makes no sense. My item was as described. If it wasn't, it wouldn't have passed verification. This is a load of crap. eBay screwing the seller over like always

·5 months agoJust be gracious, tell the buyer you're sorry he/ she is disappointed and that eBay will send a return label. Ok, you're out the shipping, be I suspect you have a lot be leeway on this one. You don't want to antagonize the buyer and have the wallet damaged or something to prove their point.
Just my 2-cent opinion.

·5 months agoItem will be returned to authentication and maybe back to you(which I doubt).
Buyer will pay return and probably get the item back...which I might tell buyer ahead of time to save on shipping and dealing with the hassle. Maybe buyer will close claim if you explain what will happen.
Wouldn't even surprise me if buyer returns a different old one.
I don't think buyer knows it goes not back to you directly.

·5 months agoYou having a no returns policy is meaningless, I also have no returns, But if the buyer raises an issue, Ebay will step in if you let them & force a return, You have a little bit of recourse because of the authentication in which you accept the return but the buyer pays for the return,You may have a chance of asking for another review since originally they stated a size issue & then changed their reasoning to being thought it was used.

If you're talking about the Gucci Soho wallet, looks like you made a mistake in the listing.
The title says New, but the condition says Pre-Owned Good.
I think if you had designated this item as New, your No Returns policy would have prevailed and this would have been a final sale item.

OP5 months agoThe authenticator knew the item was new or they wouldn't have passed it with new in the title. So the buyer is claiming the item is used, Which is not true.

·5 months agoIf the authenticator finds the buyer's "used" claim is false or if the buyer has used the wallet, they may reject the return and ship it back to the buyer.

·5 months agoIf it passed authentication, you can withhold the cost of shipping from the return. Buyer won't be happy about it, but at least you'll have some more money in your pocket. Add them to your blocklist and sell to someone else.
If you think everything will always be perfect, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. So quit your whining, put on your big boy pants and toughen up.
OR just quit selling! None of us are going to beg you to stay. We have enough competition.

OP5 months agoMy item went through eBay authentication to make sure it was as described. It passing their inspection means my item was what I said it was. I have a no return policy. How do you not see the issue here. eBay is abusing thier power. They dont abuse their power ever in my favor....

No, if you look at the listing this is pretty clear.
It could only be final sale if the Condition were New.
But OP listed this wallet as Pre-Owned - Good, so this is not a final sale item per the MBG policy.

·5 months agoThe way I read the MGG policy, listings that go through authentication can only be final sale if Item Condition is NWT or NWOT.
If we're talking about the black Gucci Soho wallet, the Item Condition was Pre-owned - Good, so it was not eligible for final sale" protection.

·5 months agoThe authenticator isn't looking at your title to determine the condition, they're looking at the condition you chose....which it appears you know is an issue.

It passed as pre-owned, good. It did not pass as new. The fact that you included the above in the description and you listed it as pre-owned indicates you were fully aware that it might not pass as new. You created an INAD for yourself by telling the buyer one thing, while knowing full well that the item might not pass as new.
Unfortunately, there's no recourse for you when you try to play the system like this.

OP5 months agoThe reason I started listing items this way is because eBay had failed new items in the past which was 100% false. A couple of said items That had fail, I just sent back in and passed with another authenticator. Thats when I started just putting pre owned in that part of my eBay listing. and stating the item is new in my title and description. To avoid bad authenticators

·5 months agoI get what you mean, but unfortunately it looks like the buyer seized on that very thing and made it backfire. But this is far from the worst thing that could happen. You will either get your item back to sell again, or (like in Tealt's case above^) maybe the buyer will try to pull a scam by sending back something else, and get it rejected by the authenticators when it reaches them for the second time, LOL. That would be hilarious.

·5 months agoI understand, and there's no denying that there are lots of problems with the ebay authentication program, but you can't play it both ways. Your item did NOT pass as new. It passed as pre-owned good. You told the buyer it was new so now the buyer can say it looks more used than "pre-owned - good".
From your feedback, it appears this isn't first time you've gotten into trouble with condition. A couple more INADs and you could find yourself restricted, and then without selling privileges at all. Unfortunately, ebay doesn't give much leeway to sellers who create headaches for buyers. The platform will back you when you follow the rules and don't try to manipulate the system, but when you do things like you're doing, you're definitely going to be S-O-L.
Why don't you have a normal return policy? If the item is as great as you say, just accept the return and relist it.

·5 months agoIf that's the case, a better way to list it is to say, "I've listed this item as preowned because I don't know the history. I don't see any indications of use."
Do not use "new" in the listing at all.
That way, you aren't calling it "new," but stating your opinion on the condition.

·5 months agoNo, AG items are not exempt from INAD returns. I just had one.
It was a jewelry item that went through AG and then on to the buyer. As soon as the buyer got the item they asked for a partial refund, I refused, and the buyer then filed an INAD. EBay generated a return label and the item came back to the AG center for inspection.
This morning I got an email from eBay saying that...
1) The item failed the inspection. It was not the same item, or, was not in the same condition. No details given.
2) The buyer's return was denied.
3) I don't have to refund.
4) The item which failed return inspection is being sent back to the buyer.

·5 months ago@tealt AG items are exempt from INAD returns IF the seller has 'no returns' on the listing (which the OP did). -You had free returns, so that is why your buyer was able to file an INAD.

So, whether an AG item is eligible for an INAD return first depends on the condition stated in the listing (i.e. New vs Pre-Owned).
If the item is Pre-owned, it is eligible for INAD.
If the item is New, INAD eligibility depends on the seller's return policy.
Right?

Yes, I think you stated it correctly for the categories of Watches and Luxury Bags/Accessories.
I've had sales authenticated now in three different categories, and any time I'm listing something I wish to be authenticated, I go through those policies with a fine-toothed comb, just to make sure I know the policies for that category.

Your item could be returned because you had Free Returns. The OP's could be returned because it had 'Pre-owned' in the condition.
But say I have a brand new authentic Chanel bag with the attached tags and all. If I list it as New, have No Returns, and it passes authentication, then the buyer would not be able to open a return, period.
