EBAY don't pay their sellers
Have any other members had this problem where a buyer opens a case item not received over Christmas and then ebay refunds the buyer only to have tracking show that the item was delivered 3 days later? So the buyer received the item and a refund and as a seller I didnt get paid? Upon an appeal, eBay refuse to refund my payment. Have you had this problem with Ebay?

You are in Australia so there is always the possibility of delays involved (especially at Christmas time). As others said, it is up to you to keep track and follow through with what is going on with your customer's packages when there is a delay.
You could email your customer and politely tell them that, since the package was delivered after they got their refund, you would appreciate it if they would reimburse you. However, they are not required to do so, so don't be surprised if they don't. Many will but some won't. Also, if they do agree to reimburse you, they can't do it through eBay so other payment arrangements would need to be made (Paypal, etc.).

·8 months ago@lindam1460 Nope, because I take responsibility and see what it is going on. I look at the tracking number. If there have not been recent scans, I file a missing mail search. I then upload the tracking number to the Item Not Received claim and note the steps I've taken to get the package moving. I'll also note that if the buyer has not received their package within 3 days, I will fully refund. I then follow through and do that.
If tracking shows the package had recent scans and it is simply running late, I upload the tracking number to the INR and note that it is running late. Sometimes USPS will state why it is late, and I'll note that in the INR as well.
Responding to the INR is key. You ignore it at your peril. eBay will step in and refund the buyer with your funds. If the item is delivered, you are out of luck.
Next time, instead of worrying about yourself, take care of your buyer.

·8 months agoNo, because eBay has a new policy now, if you shipped with an eBay label.
I refund immediately when the buyer opens the INR, which closes the case. Then when tracking shows the item was delivered later, eBay reimburses me within about 10 minutes.
You need to refund the buyer, not ignore the case to let eBay force a refund. And then eBay will repay you after the item is delivered.
