Ebay default predictive pricing scale is pushing expected seller item prices down
Summary: isellubuyusellibuy45 is frustrated with eBay's predictive pricing scale, which they feel pressures sellers to list items below their worth, impacting sellers negatively while benefiting eBay's turnover. shire123 and fabrics24 advise against relying on these suggested prices, emphasizing the importance of conducting independent research.
eBay have selected prices set when you list an item, they have a scale lowest will sell quick, highest will sell slower, problem is most casual lazy people wont change this, the effect is customers get used to buying items at a lower price than what it is worth, this is detrimental to sellers. example, i have sold bike brake sets for £100, now eBay suggests on the predictive scale £60 will sell quicker, anything over £80 will take longer to sell. this only helps eBay with turnover, but impacts sellers expected prices for items, well done eBay just like with simple delivery you have found another way to screw the seller over and ruin eBay further for sellers ? congrats!!!

·Sep 11, 2026 at 6:53 PMI listed something new today, and EBay’s suggested pricing was $1.00
I was slightly insulted.
I hope sellers don’t pay any attention to that ‘suggestion’
.02 cents (probably my next suggestion)

·Sep 11, 2026 at 4:08 PMNever, ever rely on those suggested ebay prices. We do not know what goes into those suggested prices. In many cases it seems they are not really for the same product you are listing.
Do your own research.
