eBay customer service lie and how to report on them
Hi dear eBay sellers
I am a seller on eBay.
we know that eBay makes its profit and pays its employees including eBay customer service agents from fee money paid by sellers. Despite that eBay never supports and protects its sellers. Actually customer service agents, who are paid from my money and other sellers money, keep lying and failing claims filed by the sellers.
I filed 5-6 claims in 2025 and 2 more claims this year 2026 on the phone through eBay customer service agents. I found later that claims were never filed despite eBay agents gave me the claim numbers. They promised my claims were sent to appropriate buyers and organizations, but they never filed anything. Just lied. Even the claim numbers are made from nowhere. I think eBay agents just tell it over the phone whatever number they think.
I would thank you dear sellers if you help me to report on those agents and get them fired, because I don’t want eBay pay them for not doing anything. I lost bunch of my profit because of eBay customer service.
I started recording my calls to eBay, but I don’t know if it helps.
Thank you for your opinion in advance

Generally companies pay their employees and generate profits from the revenue they bring in. How else do you want them to do this?
eBay never supports and protects its sellers.
That is a boldface lie if there ever was.
Actually customer service agents, who are paid from my money and other sellers money,
Actually, it isn't your money...nor other sellers money. The fees we pay ceases to be our money a milisecond after a transaction goes through.
failing claims filed by the sellers.
What claims are you talking about? You do not need an eBay CSR to file a claim for you about anything. eBay has all the tools in place on the website you need to run your business.
I filed 5-6 claims in 2025 and 2 more claims this year 2026 on the phone through eBay customer service agents.
Glad you said this as it is perfect opportunity to point out that habitual calling eBay (or any company for that matter) about non-sensical things like this will get a notation on your account as being a problem caller. Likely the eBay CSR agents you spoke with, assuming you were actually talking to someone from eBay, told you what you wanted to hear to get you off the phone.
They promised my claims were sent to appropriate buyers and organizations, but they never filed anything.
I'm trufly baffeled as to why you feel a claim would go to a buyer or an "organization." What organization?
Just lied.
At this point I'm ready to lie to you and tell you what you want to hear.
I think eBay agents just tell it over the phone whatever number they think.

I would thank you dear sellers if you help me to report on those agents and get them fired, because I don’t want eBay pay them for not doing anything.
eBay is not firing anybody. A lot of the CSRs are not even eBay employees, and eBay would have no authority to fire them even if they thought you were 100% correct.
I lost bunch of my profit because of eBay customer service.
No, you lost a bunch of your profit becuase you have no idea what you are doing.
I started recording my calls to eBay, but I don’t know if it helps.
No, it doesn't help, and in many states recording a phone call without the consent of the other party on the line is a felony. Congratuatoins. You just admitted on a public forum of committing multiple felonies. Should I reach out to the LE in your area to report you for violating state law? (I'm asking sarcastically.)
Thank you for your opinion in advance
Wait wait wait...don't thank me too fast. You probably do not like anything I've said. I do hope you will try to explain what has gone on. It may not be too late to help you get some of your money back the right way, but you need to explain what happened so we can understand and stop talking nonsense about getting people fired if you want to be taken seroiusly.

You need to gives us more details before we can give you advice? What kind of claims are you talkin about?

OP6 months agoThank you for asking
My claims are mostly about overcharging by FedEx on eBay. This never happened to my ETSY store items I sold. I always accurately check all dimensions and weight . eBay makes me nervous each time. One of my 7 lbs item was overcharged like 64 lbs by FedEx and they took extra $40.
that makes me suspect FedEx fraud on eBay because eBay allows FedEx do that.
ETSY protects sellers. That’s why FedEx can’t deceive sellers in ETSY I think .

·6 months ago@afzalbek-shoira This is the U.S. eBay forum. There might be some kind of "claim" filing thing that sellers can do in your country's eBay platform, but not this one.

OP6 months agoI am a seller from Chicago, Illinois and I have a proof of what I wrote. I filed claims, for example, on non- return of a product by a buyer even after I refunded, or on a carrier like FedEx for their wrong actions. If you can’t help please do not disturb this topic.
thank you
jonathanbrightlight
·6 months agoIf a buyer was refunded, they don’t have to then return the product. The correct process is return then refund. There was no claim to be filed.
If you had a problem with the carrier, there are specific steps to take, but no outcome is guaranteed by eBay.

I'm sorry you are having issues. This board is not monitored by any eBay employees. However, there are many sellers on this board who have plenty of experience and are willing to help.
However, none of us have a crystal ball therefore we need as much detail as possible regarding you issues with eBay so we can give proper advice.

OP6 months agoYes sure.
I want to thank all sellers for supporting me.
i will use eBay community help again to support my business. I love selling on eBay. And want my business to survive longer.

·6 months agoThat's a good attitude. And remember to always come here FIRST, before even trying to get help from the phone CSR's. Unfortunately they rarely can help in the ways that sellers ask them to.

·6 months agoOnce you refund a buyer, they do not have to return the item. In fact, buyers get a message from eBay that tells them they do not need to return the item. If you wanted the item back, you hold off on a refund until after you get the item back. Any cases like that have no merit and you have to take the loss.
What type of "wrong actions" did FedEx do?
Edit: It is extremely common for call center employees to not provide their real names. Most call centers will have you come up with a "fake" name. Yes, they are technically lying, however it is for security purposes that they do so and it isn't anything wrong with it. The odds you would ever talk to the same person more than once, even at the rate you apparently call in, are quite low. Again, even if you did, they are allowed to give you a fake name.

OP6 months agoThank you
Now I know, I should not have refunded before I received the item
a_c_green
·6 months agoCorrect, and eBay will back you up on that. If a buyer files a refund request and you want the item returned to you first, you can send them a Return label, and eBay will not require you to refund if the buyer fails to return the item to you before the deadline.

·6 months ago@afzalbek-shoira You didn't know FedEx sucks? Well at least you do now.
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoYes sure ðŸ‘
I stopped shipping with FedEx since January 2026
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoAlso this never happened to my ETSY store. FedEx is ok with ETSY sellers. I weigh and check dimensions precisely on eBay, but FedEx always overcharges my ebay store. My ETSY store is ok with FedEx. Is that ebay fault or FedEx fault? 🤷â€â™€ï¸

·6 months agoYou refunded the buyer before they sent the item back and you reported them?
What good does it do to complain about FedEX to Ebay?
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoYes sure. That was my first return and I will never do that again.
FedEx claims is on overcharging. Even I do precise dimensions and weight. FedEx finds the reason to take something up to $3-$40 per item . This never happens on my ETSY store.
all my claims through eBay failed. I stoped using FedEx services through eBay. But I can use it through ETSY. So is that eBay fault 🤷â€â™€ï¸

·6 months agoWhat type of “claims†are you talking about?
You’re not going to get a customer service agent fired, so just get that silly idea out of your head.
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoI know. eBay customer service agents cannot be fired because they are not in the United States. Those agents even lie about their names. The same girl represents herself with a different name each time. All customer service agents are outsourcing temporary employees. They work from a different countries and help United States eBay sellers to resolve their issues. They take sellers personal information. My claims were about non returned items by buyers even I refunded, or FedEx overcharge even I
I paid right amount, or about some other issues.

If you go to a store and an item rings up at a different price at the register than you expected, do you also then insist the cashier be fired?
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoNo, I wouldn’t.
FedEx opened my package that I sold through eBay. After that I called FedEx and they told me to call eBay only. eBay CSR filed complaint and in 2 weeks when I checked the status, the claim never was filed. The CSR just pretended the claim was filed.
That’s the truth about the CSR on eBay.

·6 months agoIf your cashier is responsible for ringing up an item at the correct price & repeatedly fails to do that, would you want that person to be your cashier ?
soh.maryl
·6 months agoAs others have replied to you, when/if you refund a buyer before receiving the returned item, the buyer is under no obligation to return the item.
Don't know about the rest of your complaints, but you really need to take a quick spin through the information eBay offers to educate sellers.
afzalbek-shoira
OP6 months agoThank you
I will consider your advice
Actually I learned a lot on this forum
Selling on ebay is not easy
