Ebay customer service is at a low time level plus emboldened rude reps
Wow where do i begin! So i used the chat option to inquire as to why my payments are now requiring me to wait 7days after delivery before there released. I was then asked to verify my identity by uploading id.. I informed the rep that I was asked to do this several weeks earlier which i did immediately and was actually informed by another rep weeks ago that that was taken care of, however the banner asking for my id stayed up on my page. I took screen shots of the conversation because I was so shocked at the sheer unwillingness to do there job as a "customer service rep". It seems to me they just don't want to do there job and just end your conversation instead of properly getting to the bottom of your issue. At this point I have literally been dealing wjth ebay customer service on a **bleep** near daily level trying to get my account in order. Due to ESE being what it is and having 47 ese orders in the last month.. i was swamped with INR claims which resulted in defects causing my account to go below standard. However after countless hours and sheer determination I was able to finally get all the defects that should never have been put on my account removed.. Seller hub ultimately reflecting that I would be above standard on the 20th of next month. So extra fees due to this were incurred, a complete collapse of sales were incurred, and even after being corrected i still have to wait **bleep** near 3 weeks for my account to be made functional again. All due to the severely flawed system. So what is a guy supposed to do? Just accept the constant screwing over, just say im over it and pack up shop? Ultimately im just so frustrated and just sick of greedy companys always winning. So im determined to speak my mind and file whatever I can to do what I can to get Ebay to fix there shady practices. Ultimately no sellers means no ebay, and it just seems that they are completely okay with loosening sellers like me because they have so many, but at some point something has to break the camels back and im gonna do my part. Im attaching the screwnshots to show how unprofessional this rep was.

·4 months agoYou're not an Ebay customer. I'm not an Ebay customer. We're operators. The shareholders are the actual customers. You are the iron ore that gets processed to create value for the shareholders. That is just a fact when you deal with a publicly traded corporation. The idea is we get some value out of the processing transaction to make it worthwhile. But at some point the value does not go to the processor but to the customer. ai doesn't work. Its fantasy. But its infecting everything.

·4 months agoESE is a significantly flawed service, and your experience should have led you to cease using it.
My experience was also flawed, and the amount of time it cost me and bad customer experiences made me cut my losses.
If your business depends on ESE, you probably will not have an Ebay business in the long term.
Ebay Customer Service reps are located far from the USA, have less information available to them than sellers do, and have no clue how disruptive ESE is one's business.
Ebay offers ESE because USPS made this horrid type of tracking for First Class Letter mail available to them. Neither Ebay nor USPS realized how the way Ebay sellers would pack their ESE shipments would conflict with the equipment and policies for Letters.
So long as you see shipments which are not being scanned, you are not packing properly.
There is nothing the Customer Service Agent can do. If you do not remedy the problem, by changing your packaging or abandoning ESE, you will repeat the problems you are experiencing. You look like a bad seller even if you are not one.
Adapt your business strategy and procedures to not look like a bad seller.

·4 months agoThis entire thread is so UNTRUE.
Ebay Customer Service is NOT 'at an alltime low level'.
It is Non Existent.

·4 months agoThe expectations of what eBay Customer Service can do far exceed what they can actually do. It's not non-existent or useless, or at an all-time low level. Customer Service just can't override policy, or do many other things buyers or sellers want them to do. Yes, they do have an unfortunate reputation for giving wrong answers, though I wonder sometimes how much (which we could never know) is due to being asked the wrong questions or given incomplete information, but certainly sometimes they're just wrong. But the reputation only seems as bad as some people think based on the unrealistic expectations.

·4 months agoIn 1964, a wise man taught me a lesson by which I have, on untold occasions, profited. When one is faced with a business situation over which there is frustration, employ a Ben Franklin. It is said when Ben was troubled, he would divide a paper in half and list the pros and cons. For me, e-Bay has several cons and a single pro; the ability to liquidate stock I am unable to sell from my store. Of my approx. 4.4K sales on this platform, I have only lost money on 1.
IF the list of cons ever exceeds the value of the pros, I will simply move on with life.

·4 months agoWhat you should do is change the way you ship and use Ground Advantage instead of ESE. This is a carrier issue not an Ebay issue. Ebay is the selling platform not the carrier. Customer service is no different than it was before. Your expectations of customer service is unrealistic. All they do is tell you whatever you want to hear to get you off the phone. They do write up tickets for you and have another person with more authority to review a case.

@cjplease you won't be filing anything that would effect eBay policies in any way.
ESE is a substandard service and the results you have encountered could be considered standard by many.
Your account is still active so perhaps continue trying to address your verification issue without help from the chat or callback CS reps. They can't push buttons for you.
Payment holds can vary from seller to seller, product to product and transaction amount.
If you absolutely can't resolve this on your own or wait it out, try the Instagram eBay Social Media crew.
@ebayforsellers, use the messaging.
I would consider being nice to them and just state the facts, no drama, stay on point and maybe they can help you out.
If it is a wait/hold time on payouts, those are done by bots and NO ONE can or will alter that for you, @cjplease
You are correct in that eBay does not need ANY of us as sellers.

Patience is a virtue. So is personal responsibility.

·4 months agoThy weren’t rude. Customer service can’t unrestrict your account so there was nothing further they could do so they “hung up” the chat.

·4 months agoTo the OP:
eBay may have a policy hidden away somewhere that doesn't allow the use of the words 'eBay' and 'Customer Service' in the same sentence, so just be careful about how you phrase your complaint.

What they always do ... spew robot nonsense for awhile, then hang up

·4 months agoEven if the customer service reps were well trained, there’s nothing they could have done for OP.
Good customer service doesn’t mean having to stay on the line with a customer who keeps asking the same question, expecting a different answer when none will come.
All CSRs are told to politely tell such customers (or those who start being abusive) that there is no more they are able to do for them and then hang up.
My search history clearly shows I know eBay’s CS is useless but in this case, OP was being a PITA and had no complaint.

·4 months agoYou may want to go the route which a lot of stamp sellers do.
You could use postage stamps and use USPS certified mail if needed for items over 20 bucks if I desired.
I didn't read all the small print on what happened but realistically customer service reps can't do anything manually...and 'chat 'is artificial intelligence I suppose.
I don't call or use chat...I just try to solve my own problems.
Usually nothing gets lost without tracking...and if something did get lost it might be a dishonest buyer which we can block.

·4 months agoQuestion:
Maybe this is obvious to stamp sellers but why not use ground advantage (with a bit of cardboard) instead of certified mail with a stamp? Certified mail would be more expensive than GA.

·4 months agoI had an email months ago where eBay was going to be making that a thing...
but I haven't had that happen.
Is it maybe because of what you sell?
I'm under the impression there are a lot of shenanigans in that category...
could be some attempt for them to address those issues.
...but I'm only guessing.
...and sorry about the AI bot...
I refuse to deal with them in most situations
for exactly this reason
...and I apologize because I read the name as "armpit" and laughed out loud
and that isn't very nice of me
