eBay could careless about its sellers
Dealing with customer service the last 2 months has been hell. Is eBay hurting that bad they have to screw us out of Top Rated Seller status just to keep the extra 10%? Ebay has some crazy shady business practices. They allow you to choose no returns but if you do... they refuse to support you in claims. Basically extorting you to add returns to your items. This crazy

·10 months agoIf you end up needing 'customer service,' you're done. It's true with many things today and we're very close to so much being automated, that once you fall outside that tree, there will be zero recourse. All you can hope for is that some things even out. If not machines, you get clerks, who look up said machines, but really know nothing more. My mom just went to insurance office to move insurance to her new car, and was told that she needs to wait 30 days. The world is devolving fast - watch the movie Idiocracy (not political) to see where things are going.

·10 months agoYou must be confused… Top Rated sellers don’t get a 10% discount, I’m Top rated I don’t get a discount. TRS plus listings gets 10% discount on fvf when you offer free returns and have a handling time of same or 1 day you also need to be Top rated as well to qualify.
I have a no returns policy for remorse returns because I can’t resell used scratched, finger smudged CDs, but if I ever get a not as described return I know I must accept it. I’m good with that. Its all part of doing business.

Three negs in 10 years then bam! 10 negs and 10 neutrals in one year.
Odd.

·10 months agoGet with the times, man...We're in the 'age of outrage.' It's everywhere. Amazon, HD and Costco have trained the consumer to buy, use and return for free rental, or get a discount refund (more learned from Chinese vendors who don't want item back). So now we all get the same tactics. Someone in here just mentioned a neg 'until refund.' I got that recently from a buyer who was clearly hammering me for a discount. I hesitantly provided label to just get item back and he simply opted out (clearly uninterested in returning for his made up excuse). Fortunately, eBay did remove it.

·10 months agoThe requirements to qualify for the 10% discount on FVFs has been the same for YEARS.
1. You must be TRS
2. You must offer 30+ day free returns.
3. You must offer 1 day handling.
Is any of that a new requirement to you? Since you are not TRS and don't offer number 2 or 3, you simply don't qualify for the benefit.
Because you don't qualify does not mean Ebay doesn't care. This is just a perk that has some minimum requirements in which you have not yet achieved.

·9 months agoYou are quite right in that ebay does not support a seller that does not offer returns. A buyer won an auction recently. She had started emailing me with questions several days before the auction end. I ended up telling her that I would accept a return from her if she did not like the opal ring I was selling. So she bid and won. I got another message from her that she won the auction but was wondering about another ring I mentioned during our messaging. It was mentioned in regards to why I changed to no returns. I did not answer that message. Then she messaged that she paid -- that "it" took the funds before she could add ebay's authentication guarantee fee to the total. An ebay agent told me she did not qualify for the service. Another agent told her she could not add it after paying. So she asked me to cancel the transaction -- then relist it as a buy it now amount -- contact her so she could buy it and pay correctly this time. I messaged her that I did cancel the transaction for her but was not going to go through the rest of her "instructions". She left me a negative feedback full of lies. Ebay won't remove the feedback since I was the one that cancelled the transaction for her. I will be closing my account after the waiting period. I won't take customer abuse.

·9 months agoThe time to cancel the bids and block was when the customer asked if you "would accept a return from her if she did not like the opal ring I was selling. "
But hindsight is notoriously 20/20.
You said too much in your Response. Letting her show her entitlement would have been wiser. Ah well.

·9 months agoYes, you are absolutely correct! Thinking back I could kick myself for making an exception for her. A lesson learned. Though I probably won't be able to use that knowledge if ebay does not remove her feedback. I stand on principles even if it means cutting my nose off to spite my face. I will not accept buyer abuse.

·10 months agoI just recently started selling the antique rings I bought on ebay many years ago. My record so far is 13 sales and 4 returns -- 2 due to bought by mistake -- my first return said item mis-represented due to undisclosed flaw which was a big fat lie -- and one return was because the ring did not fit though the size was listed in the title and description. An ebay rep said to change my settings to no returns. I am learning alot about ebay and buyers and I am ready to throw in the towel. So my recent auctions show my new policy. If any of those boomerang back to me I will be gone like yesterday.

·10 months agoSince you have a significant history on eBay, it seems fairly certain that you are aware that "No Returns" does not mean No Refunds. Buyers are well protected by the Money Back Guarantee which means that a buyer's not as described claim overrides your "No Returns" stance.

OP10 months agoOf course, If i make a mistake or the item does not work I have zero issues with returns. Its all the fraud

·10 months agoYou can have a No Returns policy.
A seller of glass doodads might not want the box of shards returned.
And that's fine.
You cannot have a No Refunds policy.
You can agree that the disappointed buyer does not need to return the unwanted purchase.
But you must refund.
You can ask that the disappointed buyer send a picture of the unwanted item/box of shards.
But you must refund.
You can demand the return of the disputed item.
But you will probably pay for return shipping and you must refund on arrival.

·10 months agoThere is something called a 30 day money back guarantee which is in the policy before you click submit. If a buyer receives an item not as described or doesn't receive the item at all the buyer is allowed to file a return or request for a refund. You as the seller must allow the buyer to return. The term "As-Is No Returns" means nothing. I would agree that Ebay should just make it mandatory for all sellers to have a 30 day return cause that's really what they are doing. It's not extortion it's policy. You agreed to it. Just like everyone else. If for example I have an item and I am selling it "As-Is No Returns" I will not list it on Ebay. I will sell it locally.

·10 months agoYou cannot use no returns to mask your fraud or errors. Item Not As Described Claims are not affected by your attempts to limit returns.
The buyers are protected by Federal and State Consumer Protection Laws and Ebay is not going to subsidize your attempts to violate them with their funds.

OP10 months agoIf I were a fraudster I would agree. More like I have dealt with more fraud since adding returns. I would never purposely try to defraud someone. Your statement is ignorant, assuming I am trying to mask my fraud. ebay would have ne out of here if that was what I was doing.

·10 months agoAll you need to do is up your game to qualify to be TRS. Once you hit those milestones then you can set up your listings to qualify for the discount if you want. Check your account Seller Dashboard and see how close you are to qualifying. Keep and eye on it and do what you can to make sure you hit the stats you need as quickly as possible.
