eBay chooses to leave inaccurate seller negative feedback!
Had a vintage lighted shell sign supposedly arrive not working. I had supplied images showing it worked in listing but sometimes due to harsh handling things shake loose or break in transit.. Anyway, I apologized for the issue and tried to work it out with the buyer; even coming to a mutual agreement to just ship back for a refund.. I waited several days for a return claim but never got one, instead I get a scathing message from the buyer saying he had to pay someone $50 to merely open up the sign and plug it back in inside! They went on and on how I should have just told them how to fix this so they weren't out the $50! I replied, "we agreed last to return and refund" but you decided to go in a different direction that was never discussed? I guess I wasn't sensitive enough because from there the buyer went off leaving me a negative feedback filled with lies to anyone who read all the messaging shared between us could see was fabricated! That is, except for eBay! I requested eBay to step in (feedback removal) and their review was quick and swift: "we have rejected your revision request because item was not as described". So, all the false acquisitions, ie, "he rejected to refund" (false); "should have told me how to repair it" (without opening up and looking at it how was I to do that? Besides, the question was never even proposed to me! I merely told him not to open it up and attempt to repair if he wasn't electrically inclined because I didn't want it worse off if returned). eBay merely took the shortcut to a decision which does not pardon all of the false claims now on my feedback.... Guess that's what nearly 25yrs of selling gets me 😞

What a great sign. Seems like the buyer should have been able to open it himself?
You're selling some nice stuff, and this wouldn't stop me from buying from you.
In fact, see another post from today titled "Winter 2025 Seller Check In" where someone posited that the under-40 demographic sees 100% FB sellers as "sketchy."
So maybe this will increase your sales. Here's hoping.

·10 months agoThe situation you just described is very common here on ebay.
I'm surprised that someone as experienced as you did not know this.
* Buyers can leave negative feedback without giving the seller a chance to remedy the situation.
* Buyers don't always tell the truth.
* Ebay usually sides with the buyer.

·10 months agoThe buyer is not satisfied with the transaction. FB exists for buyers to share their unhappiness.
From your original post, it is clear that you did not give this buyer the "warm fuzzies" when he told you of his problem. And his FB reflects that.
Warm fuzzies are more important than the facts when you are dealing with FB systems.
Perhaps there is a youtube video to teach about giving "warm fuzzies".

·10 months ago1. Buyers lie.
2. The buyer is always right.
3. eBay doesn't care how long you have been selling. Whether you have been selling 25 years or two days makes no difference to them.
I agree, it isn't fair.

·10 months agoWell when the item is not as described Ebay would most likely take the buyers side. If you had a return policy of 30 days w/seller pays for shipping cost you would have had a great chance of having it removed over buyer pays for shipping cost. Unfortunately the feedback will stand. This is a situation where you were dealing with a buyer who wasn't really willing to work with you. That happens sometimes. I would have just blocked the buyer and moved on. Keep in mind its just one negative. It's not going to break you. I understand you are upset about it which that is a natural reaction but in the long run it wouldn't hurt sales if you respond to it as politely as you can. State facts where other buyers will understand the issue at hand which you were willing to work with this buyer and many buyers would just brush that feedback off.
