Ebay charging the incorrect promotional fee.
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with being charged the incorrect promotional fee? I was recently made aware of an issue regarding ebay charging the incorrect promotional fee to sellers. A couple of other sellers that I know and I have our promotional fees set at 2 percent. Recently, one reached out to me saying she was charge 11.4 percent when it was set to 2 percent. So i went in and checked all of my listings and made sure that the promotional listing was set correctly. They were. My friend contacted Ebay both by messager and phone and has gotten no where. They first tried to tell her she was in the wrong and then told her to go through and group change the listing to 2 percent. She did but sale after sale she is get charged 11.4 percent. Today, it happened to me. I had it set to 2 percent and it charged 11.4 percent. The customer rep said that I set it to 11.4 and I sent a screen shot of when i listed it at 2 percent. Then I told her that i know for a fact this is a glitch that is occurring and after about an hour the customer rep admitted that she found reports of the bug. I am curious if anyone has had this problem occur and had it resolved. Thanks in advance.

I've had the same issue throughout July and August, I had ad amount set at 6% and was charged over 20%. I've been on the phone multiple times to customer service and they keep repeating 'we cannot credit you for promotional fees'. I have really had enough and don't know what to do, I'm at my wits end with it.
Did you manage to get your issue resolved and a refund?

There are 2 types of promoted listings Dynamic rate and fixed rate.
Dynamic rate automatically updates to daily suggested rates meaning the percentage you put in will increase daily.
Fixed rate never changes until you decide to change it.
My guess you selected Dynamic rate which is why you see you’ve been charge 20%.

·1 year agoThis "GLITCH" has not been corrected. All campaigns set at 5% and still being charge at 10%-19% on certain transactions. How long has this "GLITCH" been going on? I hope this is not a cookie cutter answer to pacify sellers. Especially those who pay upwards of 10k a month for ad fees. There is no assumption here. I spoke with reps on the 14th & 20th.

·1 year agoI just had this happen today. Set at 8% and was charged 12%. Customer support said it was a "glitch" and they will fix it for that listing. They would not give me a reason as to what caused it. I must say this does not inspire a lot of confidence selling on the platform. If there is a "glitch" here I worry there could be a glitch in the payout system, or elsewhere.

·11 months agoSome of my listings are set at 5% but in the past I used 10%. I believe (I'm not sure) a warning popped up when I lowered the percentage to say if the buyer had accessed the listing when the percentage was higher that was the amount to be charged. It sounds logical and makes sense to me.

Which Promoted Listing tool are you using. There are several. Verify the one you are using please. Don't assume because you remember what you selected, but verity that is what your listing is set up to use.

OP2 years agoHello, Thanks for responding. I use the general campaign strategy. I have all of my listing set at 2 percent. The customer service rep was able to provide additional information regarding the glitch. It has been fixed and all of the charges have been correct since. Thanks again!
