eBay changed the Game On Global Shipping I Opted out, I don't take returns

I buy a lot of items overseas and talked sellers into using eBay Global Shipping, some won't sell to us here because of returns, I agreed with a few of my fav sellers overseas I would never return anything, First it is a auction, and second I ask a ton of questions and always ask for more photos.

A few UK sellers go in and reset auctions when I'm ready to buy. I buy from UK , France, Germany, South Africa, Cyprus and so on, I also order supplies direct for my restoration business through their websites and have for almost 20 years. And Supply houses have been around a lot longer then eBay , so they are my old contacts - just like auctions houses on line.

I sell a bit overseas - as of today I don't, I'm not Amazon selling over priced old stock from junk from China, nor Walmart, I never had a return - why - old fashion business practices , simple communications , I give my phone number out through eBay , any one can , people do call and ask questions, They simply don't want to tie up money , neither do I wanting to waste others time Or Money with high food and fuel prices

I only sell on eBay and at 4 shows a year - I make my living doing restorations, not eBay, I spend a lot on eBay

And I feel eBay is wrong with this change, they cut their own throat on this one. Simple put - all these changes are getting old. They can run their business how they see fit and I'll run mine the way I see fit. It does not hurt my business either way - I can go on line a buy from online auctions through the clock - watch clubs on my own, but I have 5 sellers in the UK who are going there for me and making money on eBay, again the only one that is hurting themselves is eBay.

Case in point people were trading - buying and selling long before eBay - airline tickets and shipping containers don't cost that much, again eBay will loose in the long run. Those Airplanes cost money to run and so less sellers - selling overseas - less product on the planes - with higher fuel cost. Yep, good luck.

@blackforestcuckooclockrepair I've stated before in thousands of GSP sales, I never had a single return request.

I did once send a customer an incorrect item and once shorted an item. I had to eat shipping and straighten out on my own obviously, but have never had a return request.

Are international returns that big a deal for eBay with GSP?

I can understand when a seller makes a slight mistake, I see a lot of issues with the amount of buying I do, most seller that goof of Royal , like send my item to another location have made it right, I just have got to the point where I have a few select sellers I buy from now, they know what I'm looking for, and a long the way I come across someone who is just offing things from Estates a one time purchase.

I still have not read the link provide, just finished dinner , but doing so shortly, as The user farmalljr stated above - it is all in the wording, I have agreements /contracts when I do restorations, words like , may , might are not expectable.

You never had to 'take returns' when using Global Shipping. I don't.

But... Global Shipping is out. EIS is in (Ebay International Shipping).

With EIS- ebay 'covers' the return (pays it, seller keeps the sale).

Nothing was ever made CLEAR in writing, that the seller would NOT be responsible. It was worded MAY NOT be responsible in some of the notes. Do not assume you will never have to fund a return. Because someday you might be really upset when you will be forced to.

eBay has a habit of saying one thing, then doing another. Remember the authenticity program? When it started, buyers could NOT return items that "didn't seem authentic" or NAD, because they were checked. Not so anymore, and no one was notified of that. Sellers find out when they get a return on an authenticated item. Probably eBay was starting to eat chargebacks, and that came to an end. Like anything else, all bad things are passed onto the seller. eBay controls every aspect of your sales, but takes none of the responsibility, even for their own policies.

You want to sell EIS? Great. Don't complain later if you start having to fund international returns. Because that WILL be happening. eBay will not take on the loss, even if it's their own policy. You the seller will. You invest all the time and money, take all of the risks, and hardly see any rewards.

It's the same thing they said before. But in the announcement, they also said MAY. Again, do as you wish, but no complaining later when eBay reverses what you think you know. Again, I'll point to the authentication programs thy have running. They accept returns now, that eBay said would NOT be allowed.

I'm well aware of all that as well as 'I'll believe it when I see it'; but, that's what the 'new system/policy' says.
