·2 years agoReading these boards day in and day out makes me think ...
obviously some people are just not cut out for ebay.
These small percentage of sellers who come here complaining should really look at the 18 million other sellers who are making it work and wonder "I wonder what i'm doing wrong?" instead of cussing and swearing at ebay.

·2 years agoSame here, I'm disputing it, just like the SOB buyer disputed the sale. I've blocked ebay from all bank interaction, which means I can't get paid either, so be it, forces me to not list in this criminal activity. I expect ebay to fight my bank, like they wouldn't for me to the buyer's bank, but we'll see. They already withheld my funds anyway, it's the pain that just won't go away until you sever completely. Don't stay in an abusive relationship. I can give stuff away on my own...'bleep' off is too nice...

As long as you understand that Ebay will take you to collections. It happened to a good Ebay friend of mine, and turned into a real nightmare for her, including a summons to court.

Ego. It's not enough to just walk away from eBay, he needs to announce his departure & then try to take others with him to feel like he's somehow won. And to do it in the laziest way possible without explaining anything. A joke of a thread

·2 years agoLooks like you are selling car parts, one of the top categories for tomfoolery.
Believe me, we're on your side but we know the terms and conditions pretty much permit anything. Ebay is not a flea market. The buyer can return months later and GET their money back.
the closest thing to an upside is you can probably take the refund on your taxes against the other 1099 items.

·2 years agoHi @gman7747
If a seller refuses to accept a return when the buyer claims an item is ‘not as described’ in some way … then eBay usually will refund the buyer (with the seller’s money) and allow them to keep the item.
I’m very sorry, but that is eBay’s policy … which you apparently aren’t familiar with.
If you wanted the item returned, then you were supposed to accept the return request and provide the buyer with a prepaid shipping label.

·2 years agoWithout your permission??? I beg to differ, when you created an account you signed the User Agreement giving eBay that permission. Read section 13 in the User Agreement
here is a screenshot to help you out.
If you failed to issue the return label in the time eBay gives you , the buyer can ask eBay to step in. When eBay steps in they issue a refund on the sellers dime allowing the buyer to keep the item PLUS give the seller a defect for not handling your returns in a timely fashion.
You want people to stop selling on eBay because you failed to read how Money Back Guarantee works? Nope, I am not going anywhere.

·2 years agoWe don't know what the seller did or did not do.
Could have been shenanigans on the buyer's part that the seller did not handle.
OP does not really seem to want help, and as I posted................. the info posted is so lacking that it is of no help.

You have not provided enough info for anyone to assist you (not that you want it), and the info that you have provided will do little to help, or stop anyone else from having an issue.
Lay it out. What happened?
No names, or personal info (that's not allowed). Just some facts.

·2 years agoMany sellers, good sellers, don't understand what a No Return policy actually means and/or its limitations. You are in very good company.
The return policies options are as follows.
With option number 1, No Returns the seller can completely deny taking a return for a Buyer's Remorse Return Request. Or if they want to, they can accept the return and have the buyer pay the return shipping. If the seller so chooses, they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer.
On options 2 & 3 the buyer is responsible for the return shipping on a Buyer's Remorse Return. Plus, if the seller so chooses, they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer. As of October 1st 2019, sellers that are TRS have some additional protections as well as they can issue partial refunds if they use options 4 or 5 as their return policy.
On options 4 & 5 above, they are also known as Free Returns. If a seller that has either of those policies, they will pay the return shipping even on a buyer's remorse return. A seller can withhold the original shipping value from the refund if the shipping was separately stated in the listing [not free shipping]. Also, Seller’s offering options 4 or 5 have the ability to do partial refunds in certain cases if the item arrives back damaged, missing something or in a condition less than what it was sent to the buyer in, see the policy for more details, the link is below. In the cases where a deduction in the refund is taken due to damage or other authorized reasons for a partial refund, Ebay will protect the seller from negative or neutral feedback.
ALL OPTIONS [1, 2, 3, 4 and 5] are required to process SNAD claims without exception. Even if they are improperly filed and should have been a Buyer’s Remorse claim.
All return policies by sellers must meet or exceed what is stated in the Money Back Guarantee Policy!
14 day return policies are allowed in certain categories: Jewelry & Watches, Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment.
For those with Free Return and/or TRS members with 30 day return policies, there are some added protection benefits, one of which is the ability to do a discounted refund under certain conditions.

·2 years agoIt's important to read and understand what you're agreeing to online and that isn't just eBay. Don't do it while you're eating a hamburger or talking on the phone. Take the time to be deliberate, especially with financial matters. If there's something you don't understand, ask for help. You gave eBay permission to access funds when you signed up as a seller. Think about it. What did you think would happen if an item was returned or never arrived? Who would cover the loss?
If it were wrong or illegal in anyway sellers and banks would have reported similar thefts long ago.
mam98031
·2 years agoDid your buyer file and INAD [item not as described]?
Did you tell the buyer you would not take the return because you have a no return policy?
Did the INAD stay opened past the date in which you were suppose to resolve it with your buyer and therefore your buyer asked Ebay to step in or maybe you did?
If so, Ebay would rule for the buyer and would not make the buyer return the item because of your non return policy and the fact you had not resolved the issue before Ebay had to step in.
I know you may not like this outcome, if this is what happened, as many don't. It is important to know the does and don'ts as a seller. Sellers are required to have a return policy that meets or exceeds the MBG.

·2 years agoEbay like ALL other internet market places has rules and procedures a seller has to follow to comply with the rules.
Warning to all new sellers - if you do not take the time to learn the rules and procedures it will cost you money like it did gman7747.

·2 years ago"No I didnt"
Yes, You Did. You agreed to all of eBay's terms and conditions when you clicked "List It".
Everybody who lists an item for sale on eBay agrees to be governed by eBay's terms and conditions once they click "List It", whether they are trying to sell in an auction format or as what eBay calls Buy It Now.
mam98031
·2 years agoYou actually agree to adhere to the rules of Ebay when you sign up to have an account. You have to agree to the terms of the User Agreement.

·2 years agoIn following the In Response To links back to the question that was being answered I think that reply of 'No I didnt' is in response to the question 'Did you approve an official Return request from your buyer?'
So of course if you deny a Return request for a Not As Described claim then Ebay assumes that you do not want the item back and issues a refund. If you sent the refund yourself then you would have been credited with the Final Value Fees but if you dig in your heels and make Ebay do the refund for you then your FVFs will not be refunded.

Highly doubt it

·2 years agoSo guessing the buyers opened a return and you did not respond to it. No returns does not mean no refunds esp. when someone opens a not as described item return and you don't respond within the time window. Even if you did respond, you would still have had to refund and pay return shipping if it was a not as described return but at least you more than likely would have gotten your item back.

OP2 years agoI did reply to it within a day of receiving the request.

·2 years agoWhat return did they open? If it was a not as described item return and don't accept it within the time window allowed, eBay will refund and let them keep the item. That return is pretty black and white, no if ands or buts even if the buyer is lying, sellers can't win that return.
If it was not a NAD return, what was it? We cannot see that part of your account so are guessing.

·2 years agoReplying to a dispute does not provide a resolution to the dispute and does not ensure that your item will be returned.

·2 years agoIf your reply was ANYTHING else other than "accept the return and provide a shipping label", then NO, you didn't reply.
Had you done what I said, you would have got the item (or something) back and then had to refund. eBay doesn't just TAKE the money until they give you the opportunity to handle it. You didn't handle it.
luckythewinner
·2 years agoIf a buyer files a dispute and you do not accept a return and pay the return shipping, you are agreeing to allow eBay to decide the outcome of the dispute and you are also agreeing that you will refund the buyer without a return if eBay decides against you.
Is that what happened?
