eBay Branded Supplies and Store Discount - very disappointing
I know this has been mentioned before but today I went to purchase some branded supplies only to learn that the box size I use the most of is not being offered. I used to get two packs of 25 for a total of 50 but the Store Discount has been so devlued it has been costing too much out of pocket money in my opinion. It used to cover all 50 boxes with only a little sales tax owed.
So I will have to settle for only 25 of a slightly larger box that will eat up all but a few bucks of my discount ...
I really wish they would increase the discount for Sellers ...

eBay is a for-profit company.
The branded supplies discount was established because it benefits eBay, not because it benefits sellers.
IMHO they will only increase it if they perceive a benefit to eBay.

·2 years agoThis morning I stopped at Wally World for a few things and decided to check out their shipping boxes. I remember during the holidays last year that they always seemed to be low or out of stock.
I bought some 11 x 7 x 5 1/2 for .83 each and then some 12 x 8 x 10 for .98 each.
I only get $25 from eBay to spend every quarter. The eBay box size of 12 x 10 x 8 are $43.71 for 25. After my $25 coupon is applied, I will still be paying about .75 each out of pocket.
I will probably get some of eBay's 6" x 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" or 10" x 8" x 6" to get the most out of my $25.00

·2 years agoI guess I did not notice the price increase, but as others have stated costs are going up. I thought they stopped doing 50 box packs a few years ago. I remember several years ago, you could get several boxes for little money and that was great. I wish they still sold the brown boxes with the white eBay logo instead of the black logos. I think they changed it to make sure everyone saw that it was eBay's boxes and i think it was more difficult to read the white logos on the boxes and you could easily cover them up. The black logos allow eBay free advertising on the side of the box. I like these boxes as long as the price is reasonable and the boxes are strong and don't cave in.

·2 years agoWhat I find interesting is that when I order, I can sometimes get the order the within one or two days. Where are these supplies being stored locally to have such quick delivery?
I rather wait a week+ if I can get a more bang with my coupon. I don't need that satisfaction fix for a fast delivery.

·2 years ago@sextons-sweet-deals you just happen to be close by. They are in Hebron KY, little over 100 mi from you. I'm outside Chicago, I get the stuff fairly fast too.

eBay may have several box forming companies under contract strategically located across the country. I know locally there are a number of companies that make boxes, I have been in several of those facilities over the years doing business. To your point, over the years of buying eBay supplies some deliveries have been a few days faster than others.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. My $50 is buying me less and less every time 😞
I have one of these and I have been using it a lot lately.

For those only wanting to reduce the box height that would be a good tool for them. I do that now with my own tools. If I ever get my video footage edited I have a number of short clips on how to make a box from a flat piece of cardboard, resize a box by length AND width and a few other box former tricks.

·2 years agoI bet a big part of the supplies going up constantly is the cost to mail them to us.

·2 years agoIn the last 18 months that I've had a store and have been buying the supplies, it seems to me that the cost of the items has gone up quite a bit more than shipping costs have ... but then again that's just my perception...

·2 years agoDo not assume because it is not in stock now it will not be restocked.
On another thread, a seller posted that his favorite item was out of stock, and when he message the shipping store they told him that the worked with Ebay to decide what to stock, and left him with the impression it would not be restocked.
It is now in stock.
As for the prices, they reflect inflation.
The coupon and the store fee do not reflect inflation. I'll accept that tradeoff.

·2 years agoSoooooooooooooo true! I can't speak from a ton of experience, I've had a store for 18 months. I don't know how and when store prices have increased if at all. I assume store subscription prices may evolve with any changes to additional listing fees as that is the main purpose of store subscription? (Idk, my main use of store subscription is my substantial FVF discount, the added listing insertions is secondary in value in my case no matter how you look at it.)
So I'm extremely thankful that store subscription prices have gone up, and the store coupon is cool, and it "reduces" the net "cost" of a store subscription by getting more bang for your buck, but in NO way would I pay a higher store fee to get a bigger supplies coupon.
I don't care about EBay branded supplies. When i receive ebay branded supplies I honestly (quietly) judge the seller for wasting money in my mind. If you're buying ebay supplies, it increases your expenses, which means you increase your prices. I'm paying for ebay's name to be on the overpriced box? Thats just my opinion, sorry guys.
I get the EBay branded thank you cards. They're simple, they're relatively cheap. The most bang for my buck as far as I'm concerned since I get "supplies" for 400 orders (pay like $16-$18 on top of $25 coupon). They aren't something as over priced as others. I like 'em. Works for me.
Either way, I'm not paying more in subscription for more coupon value. I'll take more coupons, but not gunna pay for it.

·2 years ago"So I'm extremely thankful that store subscription prices have gone up, ..."
I'm guessing you meant to say have not.
Agreed, I said the postage probably pays a part in the increase, I guess I shouldn't have said big part.

I am sure they will restock the size I prefer, it's popular but for me perfect for a lot of what I sell. The bigger one I will simply have to cut down ...

·2 years agoCareful what you wish for, an increase in the value of the supplies coupon will only happen in conjunction with an increase in Store Subscription rates.
As to the the pricing by the eBay shipping supplies seller, shipping materials have gone up everywhere and in some case by a lot.
Mailers I used to pay 75 cent 5 years ago are now $1.30, alternate suppliers that used to charge 85 cents now charge $1.45
That said the price of bubble envelopes has "only" gone up marginally and that is what I use for the bulk of my orders.

eBay needs to subsidize Sellers with Branded supplies since we are advertising for them when we ship with their logo on the box.

·2 years agoI agree, their not even competitive. I use to get 200 6x4x4 boxes, only can get 50 now with little left over but not enough to buy any else.
