eBay best offer not working?
Buyer made best offer, I accepted. Instead of the accepted best offer price, buyer is being charged the BUY IT NOW price. What's going on? I ended up cancelling the sale and asked the buyer to try again. Buyer tried again, I accepted the best offer, same thing happened...buyer got charged full BUY IT NOW price. I did a workaround by refunding the buyer the difference but this is very strange. Hopefully I didn't lose some money going back and forth with this.

You retain the "buyer rules" that require a buyer to put up a payment source in order to make an offer or bid. If you accepted the buyer's offer via the "BEST OFFER" feature, your buyer should have been auto-billed upon your acceptance. UNLESS you accepted a COUNTER OFFER. Counter offers are not auto-billed, but remain for sale until someone pays. You cannot send an invoice, combine shipping on counter offers. You cannot file the Unpaid Item Cancellation after 4 days for a counter offer you accepted.
If you are sure no counter offer was involved, do check to see if your buyer already paid. If your buyer was not auto-billed and a payment recorded you need to contact customer service to find out why. I would use one of the social media portals to contact US eBay employee agents instead of the foreign call center reps you get in a call back or chat.

You do limit your buyer pool by retaining the buyer rules, so at the very least you should get paid immediately.

·1 year agoI believe the buyer must complete the purchase through the offer itself. If he simply goes to the listing on his own, he will pay full price. (At least that is what I see if I initiate the purchase through my watch list instead of through the offer.)

OP1 year agoThe buyer used the Best Offer feature in my listing and made an official offer. I accepted his Best Offer...and autopayment kicked in as I required payments right away. The payment showed the buyer ended up paying the BUY IT NOW price and not the Best Offer I had accepted. VERY VERY strange!
