eBay Banned me and closed a case that was against their own terms
Summary: freme_9 described their frustration with being banned from eBay despite having never received bad feedback and in a confusing case involving improper import duty handling. They explained that they were told by eBay's customer support that they were protected, but still had the case decided against them. Other participants discussed the impact of eBay's BBE policy on international sellers and implied that these issues might have led to the suspension. Suggestions were made to contact eBay directly, though some believed this would not resolve the issue. freme_9 expressed skepticism about the resolution process and concerns about future credit issues.
I have sold maybe 100 items averaging $200 minimum each, I've never had bad feedback and I've never had a case. In the last month I've had two cases and i'm now suspended indefinitely aka banned and thrown out to normal people. The first case was my fault, I sent the wrong package to wrong buyer and I had no problem to refund them, when I went to refund by card it failed, most likely my bank blocked the $1400 charge. I called my bank and got the transaction pre-authorized and went to refund the buyer, all cards were deleted on my account and was fully locked down. I then called ebay and told them my account is locked and the add card button is greyed out, I want to refund my buyer and the guy (almost a monotone robot) put me on hold and then opened a case, took me off hold and said ebay would refund him. When I complained to ebay about him they removed the defect and restrictions on my account.
About a week later I noticed the buyer of an item i'm selling has refused to pay import duty and requested the item be returned to seller. I then contacted support, spent an hour on chat with another semi robot, got transferred around a bunch then I was told I'm completely protected because they can see it on tracking the buyer refused it. The next day I get an email saying I'm banned from selling for being high risk and then the case gets opened, I contact chat again and they tell me I'm completely protected and basically the evidence I've submitted is enough evidence I have nothing to worry about. Monday I get an email saying they have closed the case in buyers favour because there was no confirmation of delivery (Confused Dog Face) . So I appealed again with a quote from ebay rules and regulations about buyers refusing to pay import duty and tax forfeit buyer protection. I also included the tracking where it shows the buyer refused it and emails from Fedex saying the same thing.
I was told I can't appeal the account is suspended and the case is closed they won't acept any appeals and I should resolve it with the buyer amiably (Confused dog face)
SO is that, that then? Sell on another platform that rhymes with zon? I mean I wouldn't want to deal with these people in supermarket let alone being moderators in my business. My current account balance is negative 2k USD and I have no intentions of paying it, who would? If they took me to court I wouldn't even need a lawyer to win, I would just quote their own website and show Fedex communications.

·1 week ago · EditedI only see one sold item in your selling history:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/157633037871?&nordt=true
which was sold on Aug 21, 2026, and the listing says the item was "Located in: California, United States". (If the item location was not correct, that is in violation of eBay policy.)
Under eBay policy, sellers are protected if buyers refuse to pay import charges, but only if the listing location shows that the item is being shipped from outside the USA, in which case the buyer is warned on the listing and on the checkout page when purchasing that they will probably have to pay import charges.
You were not protected in this case because the item was supposed to be shipped form California, and there should not have been any import charges to be paid.
You can't ask buyers to pay anything additional after the listing ends. Any charges must be disclosed up-front. (That is another violation of eBay policy.)

OP1 week agoUnrelated item and the item was indeed located in California so you're talking nonsense .. I explained everything in OP.

·1 week ago@freme_9 , what are the item numbers for the two transactions, and what countries were they shipped to?
What does it say on your BBE Dashboard? Here is a link to the BBE policy, which explains all about it. The BBE is completely separate from the seller performance standards which you mentioned. It is possible to have zero defects on the one set, and have issues with the BBE.
Export sellers (those who sell on eBay.com but are not based in the USA) need to monitor the BBE dashboard every week or so, and take action when issues arise there.

OP1 week agoIt says everything is fine and i'm low risk lol, the bot from bangaldesh that pastes you a script in every email reply who works at ebay customer service sent me the link to check BBE.... Clicked on it and it said im a low risk seller so the entire thing is a waste of time. It's obviously some backend algo and they are intentionally ignoring the rules when they closed the case in buyers favour. I keep mentioning the case and why did I lose the appeal when evidence is so clear and they just keep pasting me some account suspension script.

·1 week agoDon't worry, the collection agency will work that out with you.

"the collection agency will work that out with you."
Since the OP is in Thailand, American collection agencies and American law do not apply.
However, the OP may have great difficulty from now on establishing credit with ANY international financial industries.

OP1 week agoNot without a court judgement they won't and they don't exist here.

·1 week agoONLY Ebay can help you with this, we are just a bunch of Ebay members and have no power whatsoever to help you resolve your issue. Only Ebay can do that. No one here can help, sorry!
At the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://www.instagram.com/ebay/
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

OP1 week agoWhy are you spamming that is not related to anything?

·1 week agoWho is "spamming"? I provided you with information to help you with your situation. It is of course your choice to use it or dismiss it, I just provided it.

·1 week agoThe BBE policy is pretty strict on International sellers.
If they took you to court, you wouldn't have a chance.
freme_9
OP1 week agoHow so? It clearly states that Buyers who refuse delivery /import taxes forfit Buyer Protection, I have overwhelming evidence from multiple sources to show that happened … Why would I pay for the item? Seems pretty clear to me and anyone with normal IQ as it's in writing.
kensgiftshop
·1 week agoRight, refusing the package voids their MBG.
But, the BBE policy doesn't care about that and any opened case is counted against you., doesn't matter if you win or not.

·1 week agoYou are registered in Thailand. With non-US sellers it only takes several "issues" to get you banned.
And as you have found out customer support just tells you what you want to hear and rarely, if ever, follow through.
Once they say permanent, they mean permanent. Good luck with whatever other site you end up using.
freme_9
OP1 week agoI sell mostly US domestic though .... I don't know why they have these people instead of AI? What is the purpose of their existence in the company?
momtoabeautifuldaughter
·1 week agoYou are registered in Thailand though so the BBE policy is strict against you. As already said too many case (win or lose) counts against you.
You are done selling on eBay permanently.
tobaccocardyahoo
·1 week agoIf you are in Thailand and having product dropshipped from a US supplier, you are a target for BBE policy. You are not more desirable than a seller who ships from Thailand.
