EBay auto adding red pressure to buy banners to my listing, how do I remove them.

I’m a private seller and I’ve noticed eBay has been putting banners on my stuff saying ten viewed in the last 24 hours, this many have sold in blah blah, people are checking this out now etc.

How do I stop this because as I said I’m a private seller and I have one Funko pop bundle up for sale and only one. So how can ten have been viewed.

It is absolutely disgusting enough to see it on other sites which are essentially abusing fomo. But now on my private listings. No f-ing way. I am an honest seller who doesn’t need fomo tactics to boost sales.

Even if they do. I do not like the idea of selling based on fomo.
I know I sound petty but it’s concerning as eBay for the most part are making me look like a business seller with tons of duplicate products to sell when in reality I am selling from my home and generally only have one item in stock or one bulk lot in stock cause I’m selling off my preloved treasurers to rehome them.

So please help me stop this behaviour.

I should add with regards to the shipping as I missed it above:

Shipping costs.  They mentioned free shipping being added, its not added.  Its governed by the current shipping policy that is set for that listing.  It may be time to revisit some of the shipping policies and review their setup:

    https://www.ebay.com/bp/manage?profileType=SHIPPING&sortType=-listingCount&_pgn=1&limit=25

Well I had to look it up but now I am enlightened to the Internet shorthand term FOMO.

Whether or not it's a tactic you like or don't, It's controlled by eBay & it is their platform,so they have the say so in what they do., This actually works out for some.Nothing to worry about.

Yes I can understand that. But personally I ignore them when buying stuff as I find it all **bleep**. My main concern here is the lie about how much is in stock. Why have banners suggesting I have x in stock when I have one and only one.
I just don’t like how eBay auto adds the fomo banners and auto adds shipping speeds that I can’t accommodate. Like I have had in the past a few free three day shipping added. Like when was I going to be asked if I was ok with that being added. And then there’s Simple Delivery being forced on us. So I am now in protest until it becomes optional again. I am doing collections in person only. My listings my way. Unfortunately I’ve had people ignore that it’s collection only and had to cancel . Alas. A sale lost is money lost to eBay, I won’t be forced into selling in a way that isn’t beneficial to me. I have a selling routine that suits me and accommodates my Autism and ADHD perfectly. Why should I scrap it to use their SD.
my patience is wearing thin with eBay and I might just pack it all in once the last items sell.
At the end of the day it’s my listings. I should be informed and made aware of anything that will be automatically added to it.

I want to pick apart some of your response here:

My main concern here is the lie about how much is in stock. Why have banners suggesting I have x in stock when I have one and only one.

If you have only one, then it would show as the last one for a stock amount.  If you are seeing it showing you something like more than 10 available, then you have a mistake in your listing.

I just don’t like how eBay auto adds the fomo banners

Well, that is something not likely to change.  And most sellers don't mind that feature.

auto adds shipping speeds that I can’t accommodate. Like I have had in the past a few free three day shipping added. Like when was I going to be asked if I was ok with that being added.

Are you referring to what the site shows you for a shipping time?  That is related directly to your location, not a potential buyer's location.  What a buyer sees will be based on where they are in relation to where you are in the country/world.

And then there’s Simple Delivery being forced on us.

That is probably something in the UK that I'm not familiar with.

I have a selling routine that suits me and accommodates my Autism and ADHD perfectly. Why should I scrap it to use their SD.
my patience is wearing thin with eBay and I might just pack it all in once the last items sell.

Perhaps the eBay platform is not for you then.  You may want to seek other options to sell your items your way.

I should be informed and made aware of anything that will be automatically added to it.

As I noted in above points, some of the perceived "automatic" additions were actually mis-interpreted as such.  Like the shipping time frame.  You are only going to see the shipping time frame as it relates to your location.  By default, you cannot see what the shipping looks like from someone else's view point.

Anyway, good luck with your endeavor!

They're your listings, but it's eBay's site and they decide how your items are presented.  Everything else has been well covered, but I wanted to address that part.  There are many ways in which you do not have control over how your listings appear.  You only have control over the parts that eBay gives you the option to enter.

It just means your single listing has been viewed 10 times.

The item was already viewed 10 times and no one viewing it decided to buy

Couldn't other potential buyers be influenced by this , to also not purchase it ?

We've had listings viewed hundreds of times before they sold, but they still sold for the price we started them at.  Sometimes you just have to find the right buyer.

First off, this is an automatic controlled-by-eBay feature.

Secondly, FOMO is a real tactic that works.   You should see the listing I have up with items from a computer game.  Hundreds of views, a lot of watchers and several in-cart notes.

That tells me there is real interest in the items I have listed and some have sold.  You should be thankful you have notifications to let you know you have interest, not be discouraged by it.

    Good luck.

    It is not pressure.

Real Ebay sellers like to know that people are viewing and/or watching their listings. Some even act on this information by making offers or adjusting their pricing. Knowledge is Power.
