eBay Authenticators are TRASH & FLAWED
I sent in an authentic item and they said it could not be authenticated. Which is very weird since the shoes were purchased from retailer. I even submitted the actual receipt with the dispute. Crazy thing is the let the fakes get through and the real can’t pass inspection….. So over eBay and their flawed system….

·4 months agoAuthenticators are extremely careful not to call an item a fake. They usually state they cannot authenticate the item, and do not provide details as to what their criteria are because they could be the equivalent of calling the item a fake.
Given the nature of the items sold by SSense I would expect there might be some quality control issues when seen by an authenticator which is experienced with more mainstream brands which would lead to a refusal to authenticate. No evidence to support this position.

·4 months agoAuthentication checks TWO things....
1 - Is the item legitimate
2 - Does the description accurately describe the item and any defects no matter how small.
A pair of shoes that are absolutely legit but there is a defect of some sort that is not mentioned in the listing will fail authentication.
If you sold a pair of shoes as "New In Box" but if it arrives at authentication with a small split in the box it will likely fail authentication for that reason (not that it's a fake).

·4 months ago@slippinjimmy I think the big problem is they don't necessarily state what the reason was. And if they do, it can still be super unclear. Like for example they'll reject a solid gold item with the claim that the gold us "less than" the karat stated, but they don't say what their threshold is, or exactly what percent fineness their test showed.
Also (and I know I'm just throwing wishes to the wind here) I think rather than just hit the Reject button and foist the item back at the seller, they should reach out to the buyer with their finding, to see if they want the item anyway. I've seen posts in the Buying forum with this very complaint, where the reject reason wouldn't have mattered to them, and they're angry they had no say in having their purchase cancelled.

Did you buy directly from Balenciaga or from a store like Neiman Marcus or Saks?
I wonder if there was some language in your description that could not be verified?
Looks like your Rick Owens track pants made it through authentication okay.

OP4 months agoEvery item I’ve ever sent to authentication has been authenticated. I only resell authentic items. The item was purchased through Ssense. The Authenticators did not even provide a specific reason why the item did not pass. Just over eBay’s flawed Authentication program.

Maybe someone returned a fake to Ssense, and Ssense sold it to you?
I wouldn't give up over one bump in the road. If you've been making money on authenticated listings, then keep going.

Doesn't sound like it.
I don't want to get over you
I guess I could take a sleeping pill
And sleep at will
And not have to go through
What I go through
I guess I should take Prozac right?
And just smile all night
At somebody new
Somebody not too bright but sweet and kind
Who would try to get you off my mind
I could leave this agony behind
Which is just what I'd do
If I wanted to
But I don't want to get over you.
Cuz I don't want to get over love
I could listen to my therapist
Pretend you don't exist
And not have to dream of
What I dream of
I could listen to all my friends
And go out again
And pretend it's enough
Or I could make a career of being blue
I could dress in black and read Camus
Smoke clove cigarettes and drink vermouth
Like I was seventeen
That would be a scream
But I don't want to get over you.

·4 months ago@adamcartwright I can't listen to this one without crying my eyes out. Ever. (Same writer, different band, different singer)
Let the camera linger on your perfect skin
Your widow's peak and your lucky grin
And the bluest eyes I know
As you turn to go
Let there be a record of your gorgeous voice
The turn of phrase would fill my days with joy
Something like Bing singing soft and low
As you turn to go
I know I'm not supposed to say I'm sorry
I know you've had more loves than Mata Hari
But you know you're the star of my life story
And I'm so sorry
Let the poet struggle to describe your heart
Your art of love, and your love of art
And if you ever loved me, tell me so
As you turn to go

·4 months agoAuthentication is not a precise or scientific process.
Some items are rejected by authenticators for reasons which are other than counterfeit, but quality issues.
All retail receipts are not created equal. Some receipts are from other than manufacture authorized resellers. Some are from off-price retailers. Some receipts are from manufacturer's outlet stores. Some of these stores are not selling first quality product from the manufacturer. Some of the flaws are seen as indicators of a potential authenticity issue.
Sometimes the products may differ from products offered by manufacturer authorized sellers. TJ Maxx has been known to have products made in materials and patterns which were never offered to manufacturer authorized retailers. Sometimes they drive authenticators crazy.
Ebay sellers need to realize that many of their sources are more likely than other sources to encounter authenticity issues, even if they make every attempt to do business on the up and up.
