eBay allowing profanity / sexual / drug content in feedback
Thanks a lot for protecting Top Rated Sellers eBay (yeah right). You should have gotten this loser off eBay a long time ago.
Why does eBay allow buyers to leave sexual comments, profanity and drug comments? eBay seemingly has no way of reporting an eBay member if you did not do a transaction with them. Even if you did a transaction, NONE of the options for reporting the buyer would relate to you seeing this buyer leaves massively inappropriate feedback for other sellers.
(And yes, this person did just leave me 6 negatives, as he does a lot of card and clothing sellers. They initially thought they were getting lucky by poor USPS tracking where they'd get the order free, then got mad that USPS showed it as delivered so resorted to leaving negatives claiming 6 cards were in 1 top loader which is mentioned that's how they come in the description. The claim of damage in the negative is false as they are a card seller and know they'd just have to message me a pic and it's 100% refund / insurance covered. Never once messaged about damage).
Here is feedback this person has left others that should have gotten them banned!
Replies from sellers he left negative to: " I sent this user a full refund and apologized. I was met with threats and obscenities." "This buyer left inappropriate comments via messages and i did not feel comfortable proceeding with the transactions. They were reported" (6 months ago, yet are still at it). "She sent me inappropriate messages that she "wasn't wearing pants" was 19 years old and wanted to visit Florida"
Are you absolutely kidding eBay? I literally could go ON AND ON and this dude only has 299 feedback! That was ONE page out of 3 for feedback left.

I have to say that I'm so impressed by your professional replies to those feedbacks. I think I'd have had trouble restraining myself.

·1 year agoAgreed. I personally don’t think I would have replied at all just because I wouldn’t have been able to say anything that wouldn’t make things worse. Well done, @overstockdistribution
Sadly, despite the amount of time since we were told it was being looked into, I still see all of their feedback left for others is visible. I was hoping for a much quicker response to fix this.

Why are you bumping the thread. Unfortunately there isn't much to help the OP sadly.

·1 year agoSo I'm following up on this, but I received a response to my report, which was sadly very discouraging:
"We looked into your report and didn’t find the content to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made by a customer service agent."
I'm trying to get some more answers and action taken now.

·1 year agoThat is disgusting and definitely should have resulted in at the very least those comments being removed (but with a pattern of abuse stretching back that far, I would hope they would simply be removed from the site).
Have you reported them yet? I would hope others have too, but with that many of those still up, I would have to guess that many of those sellers did not actually report them.
You can report each individual feedback, and request it's removal, and you can report their account for feedback abuse. I really wish you were allowed to share the username for purposes like this, but that is of course against the board rules (for good reason, it just sucks in situations like this where we could get more eyes on it), so you should probably remove that link from your post before the mods do.
Edit: I just realized that many of their worst comments are actually positive feedback, which means sellers may never have noticed them, and those that did would find they couldn't use the feedback removal tool to request they be removed, and they may have then never bothered to contact customer support or file a report.

·1 year agoWow! Unreal!! I checked out his feedback, a real winner he is ... why has this been allowed to go on for so long?!?

OP1 year agoHoping this is the way an eBay employee sees who can get the account investigated. I guess I could call, but don't trust phone support would actually have someone look into it.

OP1 year agoThat should be daily required reading for sellers who dare to sell sports cards / use eBay Standard Shipping on eBay!

·1 year agoI'm not sure how some of that language got past eBay's filters. Then again a certain social media platform allows sexually harassing comments to stay even if you report them, as long as the Bots can't see anything wrong. Same idea.

·1 year agoIt would just be nice to have an actual department to investigate actual abuses of the system.
Since that probably isn't feasible, maybe they should just get rid of feedback.

eBay does have a department to investigate abuses of the system. They call it "the Back Office."
