ebay account locked

I am trying to help my father in law who is locked out of his ebay account due to computer hacking. He had to get a new email and new cell phone number as a result. He can't get into his ebay account and contacted customer service, sent them a photo and copies of his drivers license to prove he is who he says he is. They said they'd send him a code by email or text, but they keep sending it to his old defunct email and cell number. They wont change the account to reflect the new email or cell number, so its like he is stuck in limbo and cannot receive these codes. He has explained his situation on multiple calls with CS but they are of no help. Any advice on what to do? He is at his wits end and has 22 years of good ebay feedback with his store, which he is still paying for, so he doesn't want to start over from scratch. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

Try asking for trust and safety rather dealing with general CS's.........

A while back someone posted a situation similar to this and it was quite an ordeal to get it straightened out. I can't remember who it was but it was someone who frequents the board. Maybe someone else will remember who it is and tag them.

That's the name I was thinking of too but just can't remember. He also had another ID and he used both during that thread.

And it may not even be the same problem.

Was his eBay account itself hacked into, or is the issue just that because the email and phone number are inaccessible, he can’t access his eBay account?

I ask because there is a dedicated number for Hacked eBay Accounts: 1-866-961-9253

You can call directly for those issues (but only those issues, that number cannot be used for any other issues).

I think that the only ways are to have access to the old email or possibly a cell phone number that was linked to the account
