Ebay
Why is it impossible to contact an actual ebay employee for help? The handful of options do not cover all topics and trying to get help only takes you in circles. After using ebay for 20+ yrs I have been gradually deleting my listings and using another platform. Ebay has bailed and only left forums like this in an attempt to find some kind of help, which is truly useless. They got rid of their staff and now expect users to volunteer their time to help others. That is NOT how to run a business, which is why users are bailing on THEM.

·3 years agoWhat the other poster reported is true. eBay closed down its call center during the pandemic. Apparently liked the cost savings so they never reopened it.
It seems to me that they could have changed customer service to remote locations during the pandemic, and had the reps answering calls from their homes.
It’s a travesty. It makes no sense to not provide top-notch help to eBay users. But it is also true that the help available here in the forums can be substantial.

To ensure a butt in the seat to answer all the insane calls would require an additional 5% take from listings. Not saying that is the case here but many young entitled people want instant relief and are not willing to google for 5 minutes and help themselves. Would you be willing to call for a $10 upfront charge?

That is a very interesting proposition.....charge a fee for answering questions based on the level of the question.....
a $0.00 fee for the chat bot
a $1.00 fee for something that can be found in the help pages quickly
a $3.00 fee for a question that requires a modicum of common sense
a $5.00 fee for a human review of an item delisted/removed by a specialist
......and so on
if nothing else, it might make sellers look before they call

·3 years agoEbay is a large corporation and all the large corporations used the covid pandemic as a cover to greatly reduce customer service or offshore it. I just read an article where Google had a recent glitch that caused serious financial stress to many small business owners who had no options to contact Google whatsoever. Last year Expedia had a glitch which I was forced to correct myself as the glitch did not issue me an itinerary number so Expedia agents claimed that they could not help me. Customer service is a mess everywhere.

·3 years agoI am not disputing your frustration with trying to reach a "human" but in my many years, I have never had a problem reaching customer service. I have tried to replicate other peoples attempts, but it seems everytime I do, there is either a Contact Us or Chat link or We'll call you back link....something in the process...
so, on that note...most the frequent responders here probably have more knowledge than the average human CS person.......those personnel have way too many areas that they need knowledge in.....
CS may have "book smarts" (copy & paste from a script) but this forum has "Street Smarts" (actual experience)
if it doesn't involve personal information that is only available to you or ebay CS, this forum can probably help.....
I believe I have a vested interest in making ebay better....that's good for me, and it's good for ebay
so.....I don't mind "roaming the halls" and trying to help..it make us all better and assist the upcoming stars who have much to learn about business

No one expects anyone to volunteer help, but there are plenty that do, because they care.
Try posting your question here. You may be surprised how something "truly worthless" can be quite useful.
