EBAY
Summary: av-372 expressed frustration with eBay's shipping process, particularly the need to pay for separate shipping labels for multiple boxes. Other participants clarified that each box typically requires its own label and cost, a practice that's been standard for years. av-372 further argued that shipping fees should be paid post-delivery, prompting others to explain that carriers usually require prepayment for shipping labels. A few members shared instructions on how to combine shipping orders for efficiency. The discussion highlighted confusion over shipping practices and user experience on the platform.

·3 weeks agoI think YEARS AGO, with FedEx and UPS, you would print your label and UPS/Fedex would charge you once the package was scanned, weight and measured.
This isn’t how it works anymore. You need to purchase your label upfront, AND may encounter adjustments down the line when the package hits the stream.

·3 weeks agoI'm sorry, but please clarify what you are talking about. So far, your comments are not making sense. I've been here a long time and shipped around 17K packages, but I don't understand what you are saying.

·3 weeks ago@av-372 I have been selling on ebay for over 15 years and what you just said has never been the case.
You pay for the shipping at the time of labeling. In at least the past 15 years it has never been that you pay once the customer gets the package

I'm not familiar with a shipping company that lets you pay AFTER the package is delivered. Please enlighten us.

·3 weeks agoWhen you have an account with UPS, you can just print out a label and they bill you once they process the package.
It used to be that way here; you’d put in the weight and dimensions, it would give you a price with emphasis on it JUST BEING AN ESTIMATE and your account would get charged once the package was received.
That’s where the “FedEx and UPS quotes are just estimates” statements that seem to confuse a lot of people on the shopping board come from.

·3 weeks agoCOMBINE ORDERS
From the seller hub, go to “Orders to ship”.
Check the orders you want to combine.
Must be the same username.
Click on “Shipping” then “Get shipping label”.
Again, check the boxes for the orders you want to combine.
Then check “Combine”.
The rest is self explanatory.
This will print out one label and automatically assign one tracking number to the orders that you combined.

·3 weeks ago@av-372 I'm going to assume you have another account since the one you are posting on was created in 2019. Unless, of course, my flux capacitor is on the fritz again and I'm on a different timeline than you. Given your outrage and the fact I cannot possibly fathom how someone who claims to have been selling on eBay for 30 years has no clue they've been buying shipping labels for as long as eBay has been selling them.
If you have four boxes, you must buy four shipping labels unless you either a) Place all four boxes into a larger box or b) bound the four boxes together with packing tape and purchase a single label based on the size of the bound boxes.
Now, I need exactly 1.21 gigawatts of electricity so I can get back onto the correct timeline.

·3 weeks agoBuyer pays you for the shipping when he pays for the item.......then YOU pay the carrier when you buy the label........

·3 weeks agoWhen you list an item on eBay, you set the shipping cost displayed to the buyer. You are then responsible for paying the carrier to ship it to the buyer, even if the final shipping cost does not match what you charged the buyer (that amount is paid to you as part of your payout). It does not matter if you have to ship four boxes and it costs you 10 times as much as you charged the buyer, you are responsible for delivering it as promised.

·3 weeks agoIf you have a UPS account & are purchasing the shipping on that account that is the case. You can't do that if buying shipping on eBay.

·3 weeks agoWhat in the world do you mean? Yes, you have to pay shipping.......
If you can combine the 4 boxes, into 1 box......you can print one label. Separate boxes mean a label for each (and paying for each)........
shire123
·3 weeks agoIf I am interpreting this correctly, you are trying to print one label for 4 boxes.
You cannot do that nor will the USPS, UPS or Fedex allow that.
Each box requires a label and each box costs money even if it is to the same person.
For multiple boxes you must print a label (and pay for it) for each box. That is unless you put the 4 boxes in a larger single box.

This is a shipping problem? Someone will have some insight.
