E bay Directing Buyers?
So i look up a new item to determine a listing price for mine . it's 27.99 so i list mine for a little less.
then i get an e-mail a few hours later that e bay "found me one" for 20.00.
IT IS NOT E BAYS FUNCTION TO DIRECT BUYERS TO PARTICULAR SELLERS-There is already a "Sort" feature
that allows buyer to find the cheapest.
Is it a race to the bottom now?
No wonder many of us are not selling as much.

·5 months agoEbay does not make any money until a sale is made.
Ebay exists to make money, therefore Ebay can and will take whatever action it feels is necessary to close a sale.
If you don't like this situation, sell things with less competition.

·5 months agoThere seems to be an arguement Ebay is reducing its income this way. Or maybe they make up for the gap through the fees for promotions. Logic does seem to argue less value is available to the sellers for the same or more effort.

·5 months agoThey just want the sale, If that means directing you to the same item at a cheaper price, That is what they are going to do & that is whether you promote or not, They want the stuff to move just like us sellers do, & It can be a huge time consuming burden for sellers to keep up with everyone else's price adjustments, Especially if you carry a lot of inventory. & That's just the way it is.

·5 months agoBuyer A looks at an item from Seller B and does not buy it. Seller B gets $0 in sales.
eBay email Buyer A to say that Seller C has a similar item. Seller B still gets $0 in sales.
If you are seller B, your sales are the same.
If you are seller C, your sales might go up.
I fail to see how this is causing anyone to not sell as much.
Plus, you have to look at it from the buyer's point of view. If eBay actively marketed a better deal to the buyer, that might give the buyer confidence that eBay is helping them find the best deal and that might increase their confidence in the site and they might shop here more often.

Here’s a simple solution to your problem. I’m not kidding either.
If you want to make sure you don’t lose any sales to another seller. You should look up the lowest price on eBay for every one of your items and price your’s a couple dollars lower.
I can guarantee if you did this with every single one of your items your sales will definately increase. This suggestion should help most of the other sellers who come here and complain about slow sales.

·5 months agoI don't think there's a simple solution to selling on here anymore.
Most of the time you cannot find (for certain) the lowest price or the best deal, and beat it.
You can find what you "think" you're searching for (item/price), but...eBay's search is manipulated to such an extent, the only thing for certain is that.......... you're not seeing the whole picture.
THEN, there's the straight up competition aspect.
The minute you undercut the field with your high hopes/new listing.
1) another new listing will be there soon with a cheaper price than yours.
2) somebody else has had one listed for years and will soon be cheaper because anything is better than nothing at this point.

·5 months agoeBay's priority is a successful transaction. They would rather annoy a seller with an email than miss a sale from a potential buyer.

·5 months agoThey are directing buyers to particular prices. And yes, it's aggressive marketing, which I basically ignore.

·5 months agoYou looked at a listing but you didn't buy it. eBay sent you a notification about another listing for the same item at a lower price. Maybe the price was too high for you but this one you will buy.
eBay's "job" it to convince buyers to click the buy button, they don't care which seller makes the sale.

·5 months agoAs a bonus, if the seller plays their cards right, they may even get a phantom feedback out of the deal. Score!

·5 months agoeBay directs buyers through advertising. If you pay through Promoted Listings to be the first listing that's what you get. If you don't pay for advertising you will be much less visible.

·5 months agoI would kinda' like that feature - going thru pages of sorted lists is a PITA.

Seems you didn't see the $20 when you were looking for current pricing info.
