duplicate listings being created in my account
Summary: paulinthewoods reports an issue with duplicate listings being created without their input, leading to problems with inventory and extra fees. mkaczorsee and ekolu9316 also encounter similar issues and discuss checking for duplicates regularly. inhawaii suggests user error could be the cause, but paulinthewoods confirms listings are done manually, dismissing this as the source. A recommendation is made to use third-party tools or services to identify duplicates. paulinthewoods shares that eBay support acknowledged the issue as a bug and issued refunds for the erroneous duplicates, expressing hope for a swift fix.
I am getting a ton of duplicate listings that I am not creating, is anyone else seeing this? I always have well over 500 listings active, so it is hard to catch them when they happen, and it's leading to tons of problems including extra fees for listings and items being sold that I no longer have in inventory.

·3 weeks agoIt has happened to us as well. Causing big problems especially for the listings that are auctions. I've had to refund right away because I didn't catch it until the auction ended and realized we didn't have that card. I don't know how it happened and I too need to stop the duplicates. Any ideas?

OP3 weeks agoI contacted eBay support directly and got a refund for months of duplicates I did not create, apparently they can see this on their end. Support also disclosed that this is a "known glitch" and they are working on it. So we are not imagining that duplicate listings are being created in our account, a particularly big problem for me since I sustain at least 650 listings at all times, and it's very hard to find/close duplicates, and at .15 a pop, this definitely adds up and ruins my profit margin if I'm not vigilant in requesting refunds. I'm hoping this bug gets fixed with some alacrity.

·3 weeks agoI am so glad that I am not the only one. I am over here fighting with my partner thinking they reposted the same card I listed when in fact it wasn't us.

·1 month agoDuplicate listings are usually due to user error.
mkaczorsee
·1 month agoCould be. But, not in my case. Absolutely certain I did not create a second listing for the same item.

Do you use any type of crosslisting program?
paulinthewoods
OP3 weeks agoNope, I do all of my listings manually.

·3 weeks agoWhether it is user error or a site glitch then, the way to combat it is to use the website @adamcartwright mentioned.
You can also do what i do which is upload a spreadsheet of my listings to ChatGPT and have it scan for duplicate items, SKUs, or other litsting mistakes like category placement. I do this a couple times a month and it takes only a few minutes.

·3 weeks agoQuestion, do you take a spreadsheet from eBay or is this a separate spreadsheet that you create on your own to scan through ChatGPT.
paulinthewoods
OP3 weeks agoNothing like that, I enter everything manually, take my photos directly through the application, and submit the listing manually. I don’t do any automation at all.

·1 month agoI check once a week for duplicate listings. At least twice a month I find a duplicate…that I know I did not create.
