Double Listing Error (?)
I just had someone buy two identical items. I am an experienced Ebay seller and I am pretty sure I only listed one of the items, I don't have two of the widgets. I have asked the buyer to ask for a cancellation one one of the widgets in exchange for a partial. Anyone else have a mystery double listing like this recently? Usually Ebay does warns me when I list an identical item.

·5 months agoAbout every week or so I check for double listings. But if an item sold like a year or two ago, I don't know that it was a double list. It is so very frustrating.

·5 months agoGhost listings are endemic.
I go through my listings every month or so, putting them in alphabetical order, and usually find a dozen or so in the 1500 average that are up.
Not to mention double listings and relistings of sold items.
It' s one reason I am grateful to have slow selling product, it gives me a chance to catch at least some of them.

·5 months agoI've had ghost listings before but mine are due to human error and not ghosts.
If you mistakenly click on "sell similar" instead of "revise item" ... you think you're revising the listing but you are creating a duplicate listing.

·5 months agoPeople have complained about these so called ghost Listings before, I have noticed some in my unsold Listings & I take them down before any error can happen.

·5 months agoYes, I have had ghost listings.
Maybe they were an Ebay problem, maybe they were my problem using relist or sell similar.
Ebay removed one of my cancellations without my taking any action. I have no clue why.
I would not ask a buyer to cancel an order because of this problem. The worst case effects are potentially worse than the effects of the cancellation and even a drop in Seller Level should the buyer be offended and I be reported to Ebay.

OP5 months agoI did contact the buyer and they were very understanding and canceled the duplicate order. I also gave them a partial refund on the non-canceled order. So in the end everyone was happy. But the mystery of the duplicate listing remains as I am a very experienced seller and my system for listing would not generally lead to such an error. And Ebay will always warn me about a double listing for an item and will not allow the second listing.
