Don't trust anything they tell you on the phone.
Summary: The discussion, started by quadcitypickers, centers on distrust towards phone communication, hinting at possible dishonesty or inefficiency. meme6253 reflects on the perceived uselessness of eBay's customer service, suggesting that representatives may be motivated by monetary factors such as call quotas or number of calls taken. grann-4629 agrees, describing the service as often inefficient and sometimes difficult to understand, implying that the remuneration system influences the service quality negatively. The sentiment expressed reflects dissatisfaction with phone-based customer service interactions.
3 times this year support over the phone has told me false information to more or less get me off the phone.
In the latest one, a return using a freight forwarder.
eBay's own MBG policy states a buyer loses protections when using one, and originally support told me it was clear they were using one, but needed to call back in 3 days to have them close the case.
I've spoke to multiple reps who say "they cannot indicate they are using a FF" when if you literally google the address, it literally is a freight forwarding company, and their address line has the destination country in it!

·4 months agoI have to admit, you lost me at this.
Why are you having eBay call you three times and we are not even halfway through the year? I could not tell you the last time I spoke with someone at eBay. If I were going to lose $100 I would not have eBay call me. What are they going to do other than waste my time for an hour. Do you realize how much stuff I can list in an hour? That's more money down the drain by spending time on the phone with eBay (and then coming here to moan about it as that seems to be a requirement), than what I'd lose just eating the $100 loss.
If FF are a problem for you, cancel those orders due to an issue with the buyer's address. I don't do that, I ship the order.

·4 months agoI think most of us know by now that the phone support are both overseas and basically know nothing past the very basic issues that no competent seller would ever call in about. They are there for customers and brand new sellers who don't understand anything.
None of them are going to understand any advanced issues. You can't trust any of them to give you correct information on anything past the pure basics.
If someone tries to return your item and they used a shipping forwarder then just accept the return, chances are they won't send anything back.
You can also cancel any forwarder orders if you just use "problem with address". If anyone ever asks about this (and I have never heard of anyone being asked about it), then you can state it is a high scam address on your "no ship list".
Do you actually get many forwarder orders? I wouldn't see any reason for you to. Given that you almost exclusively sell auto parts that would be time sensitive to most customers (and are made outside of America and thus would be quite expensive to purchase from America and then send back overseas).

·4 months agoIt has been mentioned here numerous times that CS phone support can give out false information, They like to get you off the phone so they will tell you something in order to do that.

They are either paid by the number of calls they take (get off the phone so I can increase my number), or they have a quota (get off the phone so I can meet my quota).
Either way, whatever money they earn is money wasted by eBay ... they are of little to no use, and some of them are really difficult to understand.
JMHO tho ...

You are not a new seller. You have sold 11K items on this account. I've seen you post fairly frequently on these boards so I'm not sure why you would even bother calling CS since, because of frequenting these boards, you should know that CS gives out incorrect information, etc.
You should know you will get better answers here, and like @eoma689485 said, most problems you should be able to "handle it yourself".

Why have eBay do anything about it, handle it yourself.
If it is a not as described complaint, agree to it and send them a postage label. I know what you are thinking, but that label is only good in the United States of America, and if the person does not ship it back, they will lose the complaint.
If it is an item not received complaint enter the tracking number that shows delivery to the U.S. Destination.
Handle it like you would someone who lives in the U.S.
