For me, the Ground Advantage increases will be bitter - once I go above 1/4" in thickness it is imposed and seems to be a minimum of $7, so I have to bill the customer @ $8 to recoup the ebay fee. Another 50c won't help.
So long as energy costs keep increasing and union/health care costs keep rising with built in percents, USPS has no choice but to increase revenue.
I like the old and/or spartan post offices, so long as they are usable by employees. A little girl with her mom in line was whining yesterday "I don't like it here, there are no screens".
That's only for "First Class Mail, Marketing Mail, and Media Mail, those who use USPS Competitive Products like Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, or Priority Mail Express will likely still see changes coming sometime in January."
So we'll see the increase, I raise my shipping for July's increase and my sales tanked, I'll have to eat Sundays increase. Good thing I'm closing up next year, just not enough profit to make it worth my time.

Yep... Even with the popularity of streaming, continually rising shipping costs is the main reason why this past year I completely stopped selling DVDs and CDs. Even the more rare titles, including season packs and sealed items, are going for next to nothing when shipping is considered. Not worth my time and effort. Bundling them doesn't work well enough, either.
Best to dump them at a yard sale for $1 each. Even then, they often remain until being sold at the final day 50% off.
Similar re-evaluation in other categories is now going on for me - mostly because of shipping and packaging costs.
Accept > Adjust > Adapt... that keeps me still making a decent profit with my eBay sales model.

The clerk at USPS didn't know Canadian Post Office was on strike...
It took 2 weeks last time for USPS to figure out they couldn't mail stuff to Canada, so I guess that hasn't been updated on USPS website yet.
They've been on strike for a whole week now. While I want it resolved quickly so I can get back to selling and shipping orders (something that's kind of on hold during the strike unless I can ship it some other way), but I'm in favour of greedy people being without their paycheck for a few weeks as punishment for making ridiculous demands.
I saw in the news they want the 13 Stat Holidays, plus 17 personal needs days, and 7 weeks of holidays. (What isn't clear is if the 17 personal needs days are including in the 7 weeks of holidays). They also can get paid for 8 hours and do it in 6hours, then go back to the depot to get 2 hours more work to do which they will get paid overtime for (which is how it is right now).
For the record, my employer has very cushy benefits after you've been there a while, and at 20 years seniority you get just over 5 weeks holidays. We also don't limit sick days and use excessive sick days as a measure for performance for raises, promotions, bonuses and privileges, so while we let people call in sick twice a month for a whole year, it will come back to bite at performance review time. (If you're really sick like I was, it's a medical leave fully paid, and does NOT count for performance).
Can't say about the clerks in the office, probably not, but I have to inform my mail lady every time there's an increase. Well, more like a hissy fit lol, not like she cares, she does know it's hurting small guys like me.

·11 months agoOn the bright side, the USPS recently announced that they wouldn't increase prices in late January.
So when they stop the seasonal rates it could be until July 2026 before they have another increase.
