Does Ebay Love Me? Let Me Count The Ways...0
Why can't I decline to do business with an obvious scammer? Why won't Ebay stand behind its sellers even when the buyer is in the wrong? I understand it is a buyer's marketplace but common sense would dictate that you not screw the sellers so bad that they just leave? After 25 years, I don't expect much from eBay in the way of support but **bleep**! After paying for yet another stupid return, I asked for something from Ebay to say "I love You". I suggested a tee shirt, a month free store subscription, a pack of branded tissue paper, or even a few boxes. Anything to acknowledge that Ebay at least recognizes the effort and the struggle of being a Top Rated Seller.
Their response, they disconnected my call after telling me to hold on.
That's about right.....

·2 years agoTo this year eBay has covered around $3,000 for me on bogus returns in the form of paying 50% of the total refund.

·2 years agoYup. Just got hit by our first one today. I'm guessing I'm not a virgin anymore? 🙂 Out a camera, the money, and my first bad feedback. Ebay customer support by phone didn't exactly rock this morning. Even after the buyer taunted me in a message they could see.
Sigh. Cost of doing business. Consoling myself with the totals from the rest of the month's sales.

OP2 years agoMy post was mainly to vent as the return was just one of too many. I suppose what pushed me over the edge was when I told the buyer to keep the item vs. the $30 return postage and they sent it back anyway. So I ended up spending more in shipping both ways than I sold the item for. The reason for the return, the buyer "ordered the wrong one". I know eBay was not going to compensate me for this as they never have and never will. I really wanted to have some acknowledgement that maybe Ebay understood what was going on and saw our issue as something we have to deal with on a regular basis. By definition Top Rated Sellers are the cream of the crop on Ebay and we individually generate thousands of dollars in revenue and profit for our corporate overlords. Is it too much to even hope for a tip of the hat or a sympathetic glance from them as they look out over their empire? Yeah, I suppose it is.
If I wanted Love, I should have just come here.
The responses have been great. Although I am left wondering why I never received any herb seeds. I am warning all that if I see someone wearing a too big and baggy XL tee shirt sporting an Ebay logo, it will be mine.
I once received a pair of socks from Google!
If anyone wants to send me a tee shirt or some herb seeds, I wear and XL and like Basil!

·2 years agoI don't love Ebay and I do not expect Ebay to love me.
I am a sharecropper on Ebay's farm land. Just as I would be on Amazon's farm or Walmart's farm.
When it is no longer worth my effort, I will sell some other way, or some other merchandise.
I do not need more crap and clutter, I have plenty and am always adding more.
Tell me the rules and I will do my best to follow them, even if it means divining their intent to know what my limits are.
I won't make the same mistake twice. If told I can't list something, I won't try again. If a product attracts crooked buyers, I will consider not selling items which attract those buyers. No one item or type of item will overly affect my business.
I do not rely on Ebay support, if the documentation and error messages are unclear, I am more likely to figure out the way around the problem than support is. Or someone on this forum will.

Want eBay to change? Then change the federal laws for consumer protection.

·2 years agoI fully understand... their policy of "fairness" has cost me $1000 in the last few months, when they even acknowledged the buyer was in the wrong. This is why after 21 years here, I am just about done.

·2 years agoActually, last Christmas they gave out this box with herbs that you grow in that was kinda nice. Not sure if everyone got one but I did get a freebie from eBay. I am expecting something this year because I wasn't naughty but nice.

Yes, I got one. Most of the herbs came up great, however the Cherry Tomato plant in the pencil would up looking like Charlie Browns Christmas tree. 😠I thought all the packaging supplies they gave some of us was nice too!

Oh and what seems like eons ago I got a Power Seller business card wallet thingy that is still around here somewhere.
