DO NOT use international shipping with no tracking in receiving country.
This is a warning. The title says it all.
International shipping with no tracking in receiving country is a trap for the seller. For example, I shipped the item via USPS First Class, as the buyer requested (very smart of him). The trace of the item ended when it crossed the US border. The buyer then filed a claim against me that he hadn't received the item, and I had absolutely no way to prove it otherwise.
eBay sided with a buyer and told me to eat the cost. I'm not a large business. I'm just a person, so this had a significant impact.
Two lessons for you:
1. If you are a small seller - you have zero protection. None whatsoever. eBay will tell you to eat the cost of fraud. As a seller, I would stay away from eBay altogether.
2. If you must use eBay, NEVER ship internationally without the possibility of tracking in the receiving country. This basically makes it prohibitively expensive to ship abroad, so I guess the lesson is this: DO NOT ship internationally.

·2 years agoI'm not the typ of guy to scam someone but I like having a tracking number as a buyer if I didn't receive my item and got my funds back and the next week it came id contact the seller and PayPal him his money

As long as the package makes it to the GSP hub in KY that's the end of the sellers responsibility.

OP3 years agoeBay still sides with the buyer, of course. They say that even with the item located at customs and waiting for the buyer's payment, we cannot do anything about it until he picks the item up. Then, it would be a fraud.
If the buyer is smart, and he is, he will let it rot at customs now. I wonder if I could retrieve the item from customs myself. How would I even approach it?

Which was one of the Seller Protections of the GSP.
All import fees (duty and sales taxes) were paid by the buyer before the seller shipped.
And delivery to the Kentucky plant was delivery.
I wonder if I could retrieve the item from customs myself.
The "customs" office would be in the buyer's country, just to begin with.
And the shipper of record would be the EIS.

·3 years agoWith the GSP, delivery to the GSP plant in Erlanger PA was the end of the seller's responsibility for delivery.
This also covered damage in transit and problems with customs and local sales taxes.
It did not cover Not As Described claims.
I understand (as a non-US seller) that delivery to the new International Shipping program does the same.
The seller ships to a US address and the shipment is forwarded from there.
FWIW USPS First Class International PARCEL does include tracking to Canada. I am not sure about other nations.

·3 years ago@pwko17 I am a small seller and have been shipping internationally for about 14 years with very few problems in consideration that 40% of my sales are int'l.
I used mostly USPS 1st Class Int'l, but only the countries that were covered by e Delcon.

I started using ebay int'l standard when it became available years ago with only 2 incidents where the package got lost and ebay's included $100 insurance paid me within 48 hours.
I now started using ebay's newest (ebay int'l) starting about a month ago. Sold about 4 items without a problem.

Once the package is delivered to the ebay consolidation center, the package is considered 'delivered'.

That's the clue.
I ship internationally without any tracking most of the time with few problems.
I recognize that going commando may result in a few more INR claims but nothing that my business plan can't handle. Offsetting that is that my shipping costs are $5-$10 lower per shipment which makes my buyer's costs lower.
My items are fairly cheap, and even cheaper for me to procure. YMMV
But a buyer request for a cheaper, untracked service is a Red Flag

·3 years agoyeah it's always been that way, that's why I don't ship international. now they push that ebay international shipping program and I had to refund after 30 days. I will never ship to that country it takes 2 months to get there. been like that for a long time.
