do not ship to country bought but can't pay?
Received a message from a buyer in a country that I do not ship to (mexico)
stating that they cannot pay for an item.
Do they mean because they are not on my list of countries I ship to?
If so, why were they able to buy but then not pay?
or do they mean they are broke?

·3 years agoI cannot see any of your listings or sold items so I am unable to look at your shipping details but by chance have you been transitioned into the EIS program? Generally if a buyer cannot pay it is because there is something wrong on their end.

OP3 years agoI opted out of EIS as i am perfectly capable of international shipping and had read some negative reviews
I went into my account / shipping preferences / exclusions and I don't think I had mexico checked.
hopefully, that will override anything that is in the exclusion lists within a listing (or maybe that is where that info gets populated from)
anyway, cancelled the sale with 'problem with buyer's address'.
thanks for the help all

·3 years agoIt's probably because you do not have a shipping charge specified for Mexico.
I can't see your listings but I'm guessing you are not blocking Mexico specifically but are only providing a shipping method/amount for the US.
This often results with a buyer that can purchase but cannot pay.
If you do not want to ship to any (or all except US) you have to actually block those countries and anyone with a shipping address in those countries.

OP3 years agoMy listings are set up for first class (or priority) international shipping with 5 destinations: Canada, France, Japan, Australia, UK
Other countries = None

If you don't want to sell to certain countries go into your listing and under exclusions put a check mark into the countries you don't want to ship to so they can't purchase anything. Also create a templete that you will use for all future listings to avoid the issue.

OP3 years agoI don't see anything within a listing for 'exclusions'.
in the international shipping area, there is a 'destinations' box that opens and I have the 5 countries checked there.
additional countries box - I have selected "None".
why doesn't that work?

OP3 years agoOh, now I see 'exclusions'. down the bottom of the listing page. Good grief.
I don't know why I have to specify in 20 different places as I am pretty sure 'my account' has ship to info somewhere too!

Then as advised upthread, you need to block/exclude all of the international destinations except your 5.
Account Settings/Selling/Shipping preferences/Exclude shipping locations. Then Edit and Save. Good luck.
