Displaying Feedback Replies
Over the past few months, we’ve been working to improve the feedback experience for both sellers and buyers on eBay by improving relevancy and displaying images. These feedback enhancements give potential buyers better insights into your products, and can add credibility and drive sales by instilling additional confidence while shopping. We’ve now made an additional update based on what the seller community says is a top request for how we display feedback.
Starting this week, sellers’ replies and buyers’ follow-ups to feedback will be shown on all places feedback is viewable. This update includes showing replies on desktop and mobile web pages, the view item page of eBay’s mobile apps, and the storefront feedback profile page.
Buyers will be able to see your customer service interactions on all positive, negative, and neutral feedback. You can reply to buyer feedback on your feedback profile page via a desktop computer.
Responding to buyer feedback is a great way to showcase your knowledge about your products, provide context for the feedback provided by buyers, and demonstrate your commitment to a great buyer experience.
We encourage sellers to work towards a solution with buyers who had unsatisfactory experience and attempt to rectify the situation. Responding to buyer feedback with additional context about how you followed up can be a key part of this process.
As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

·2 years agoHey @devon@ebay - is there a timeline for de-pinning the feedback and monthly chat threads from the selling board? They've been up there since Jan and Feb, and it's kind of annoying to have to keep scrolling past them.

Hey @wastingtime101! I can go ahead and have the unpinned now!

·2 years agoHow about letting sellers be able to leave honest feedback with neutrals and negatives? You all seem fine with letting buyers abuse feedback for sellers,,so you can't use that excuse to deny this from sellers.

a_c_green
·2 years ago@starlilyth : Those are not "fake" comments; that is one example of several available pre-written comments that eBay offers (there are 5 in total), so that you don't have to type in your own every time:
If you pick any of those sellers at random and look at their Feedback Left for Others, you will see numerous other examples. You have received a few of the other available canned Feedback comments from other eBay sellers yourself.

·2 years ago@starlilyth I think one reason it may "seem" more suspicious is that eBay's super special algorithm for "most relevant" appears to preference these default comments and surface them together - which only highlights the fact that the comments are exactly the same and makes it look more sketchy or odd than it otherwise might.
I posted screenshots in another thread on this issue that illustrate how weird it looks when they are all clumped together like this, but when you change to "most recent" sort, you'll see them peppered in among other comments and it looks totally normal.

·2 years agoWe have a very recent issue with a negative feedback left for us, an over 20 year member of ebay and selling for the last 15, by a zero rated new buyer who ordered the wrong part, he demanded an immediate refund without a return and didn't respond to any of the messages we sent to try and resolve the issue.
I have contacted ebay but we've gone from being able to call and talk to a live person, to being able to chat to a real person to just email to address these issues and all I am getting is a standard copy and paste answer to my issue with the buyer that "he has a right to his opinion" as untrue as it is with his zero rating and his lies about my items and business calling it a scam, and that it won't affect my selling experience, etc.
Our customer service track record is stellar, we strive to help our customers and resolve any issues quickly. Why has the customer service become next to nothing? Why is no one at ebay standing for the sellers anymore at all?

·2 years agoBiggest beef with Feedback right now, is it's out of order by date. I don't want to go way down the page to find current feedback for someone. What happened a year ago is not what I need to see.

·2 years agoI don't have a problem with them messing about with alternate sorting strategies; they might stumble on to something that's useful. What I do have a problem with is their deciding that "Relevant" will be the default setting on some pages, forcing us to have to keep switching back to Most Recent every time we want to use the page.

·2 years agoIt would be great if eBay would proactively educate new users (and all users for that matter) that feedback is for rating your service experience with a seller and not rating the product. I have received both neutral & negative feedback because the buyer tried a new product and didn't care for it which is totally out of my control when it is still functioning as intended.
Also I have gotten negative feedback multiple times without a buyer ever having contacted me. It would be nice if eBay would at a minimum require a buyer to contact a seller one time about any issues before allowing them to leave negative feedback.
vintagecraze50
·2 years agoI agree that a follow up to the comment helps immensely. Always do that if the feedback is not accurate.
toomuchstuffagain35
·2 years agoWith the caveat that the follow up is calm, factual & professional and not an anti buyer rant.
And also some negs or neutrals are best left alone as they cast a bad light on the buyer not the seller.
movieman630
·2 years agoAnother way it could be handled is if the buyer who leaves a negative has that display on their stats. Why should all buyers accounts be registered at 100%. I've seen buyers who left 3 FB out of 100s of transactions... 2 of the 3 were negative. Their "buyer FB" rating should be 33.3%
movieman630
·2 years agoWhat's going on with FB? Is the "cooling off" period for leaving negatives gone? People are handing out negatives like candy now! I've NEVER gotten 3 in one month in 20 years of doing business on ebay! 2 would have been removed under the old rules for being unfair and abusive. I don't know what's going on with the so called "Feedback Updates" but all it seems you did was allow buyers to abuse sellers more. This is not cool. If you're going to allow buyers to leave negatives without cause you better change the way you calculate FB scores or how long you let the stats show. 12 months for them to roll off is going to become very unfair. 1 month should be the limit.

Therefore, if sellers can only leave positive feedback than feedback has ZERO VALUE for sellers. It dis-allows the abilty to warn others sellers of a buyer/buyers to block or avoid due to non-payment among other distrustful issues!

·2 years agoNot only that... better realize what the constitution is actually for.... 🙂
For those that are unfamiliar, the constitution controls & limits government. The freedom of speech in the constitution (first amendment) is about preventing the government from infringing on your speech, specifically so that you have ability to petition for a redress of grievances. In short, the constitutional 1st amendment - freedom of speech, is the right that says that a person can articulate opinions and ideas without interference or retaliation from the government. The constitution protects you from the government, not from fellow citizens or other entities. Ebay is a business... it is not the government. Demanding that ebay, facebook, youtube, YMCA, etc must allow you to have freedom of speech because of the constitution and the first amendment is barking up the wrong tree.

·2 years agoWhen someone approaches you after the sale for a partial refund but doesn't want to return the item. Even if they don't overtly mention leaving a negative feedback, the potential for them to do so is obvious.
stacy_pme
·2 years agoAND if the seller offers free returns, buyer must utilize that process before leaving a negative review! EBay encourages sellers to use "free returns" and when we do, and a buyer doesn't utilize it, but still leaves a negative review stating item wasn't as described - So not only is buyer not utilizing seller's free return, but they aren't returning under EBay's buyer protection either!!!! This needs immediate attention.
To add fuel to this fire....> I just ordered an item yesterday... and the seller sent me a message 3 times.... the message says:
"Hi friend
Thanks for choosing our product! You're now our lucky customer, and as a thank-you, we're giving it to you for free!
please open a return request on eBay and choose “do not fit†or “just do not like it†as return reason, so that we can send the refund to you while keeping the product.

a_c_green
·2 years agoThinking about this some more... those reasons (“do not fit†or “just do not like itâ€), if selected, are classified as Remorse returns and do not require the seller to provide a label, do they? If the buyer is talked into selecting a Remorse reason, that would be requiring the buyer to return the item at his expense even if the real problem was something else (e.g. wrong item shipped).
If the seller demands the return before refunding (regardless of what they promised in their original message above), and the buyer did not select a reason for return that's a seller's problem rather than a buyer's problem, then the buyer either has to cough up his own postage for it, or forget the whole thing.

·2 years agoThere are bigger problems than adding photos to feedback, I stopped selling the majority of my items here because of the constantly rising costs, poor customer support and bad experiences with buyers who abuse the rules here. There are a ton of options to sell all kinds of items online and I’ve found other places to sell most items. eBay still rules for collectibles and certain things, but they’ve certainly lost a large share of my sales. Adding photos to feedback isn’t going to make me list more here, and I’m certainly not going to pay extra to advertise my items on a website that I’m already overpaying.
eBay can do whatever they want with feedback, or baseball card refrigerators. My clothes, sneakers, stereo equipment, vintage items and many other things are being sold elsewhere and I’m happy with that. I’ll never promote a listing or send a valuable collectible in for them to hold.
Issues are to be expected, especially with such a large site like eBay, but having my concerns answered by a $12/day support agent in a foreign country who can’t and won’t help me isn’t good enough. Especially when your policies are creating the issues I’m calling about. This gave me reason to search for other options and find some good ones, so in a way I’m thankful for being forced to change.

·2 years agoI think..... IF a seller is top-rated, and offers FREE RETURNS, that if a buyer does not initiate a return on an item that they are claiming as "Not as Described" the seller should be eligible to have the negative feedback removed. This is ridiculous!!! WHO in their right mind, would buy something and be so disappointed that they leave a negative review, and they don't even try and do a FREE RETURN? UNLESS they are doing it as retaliation?! They are literally paying for an item, just to leave a negative review??.... OR they are hoping for a refund and to keep the item, in exchange for removing their review - they can't outright ask for it, but they can manipulate the system... There is just no other reason in my mind that someone would do such a thing. I certainly wouldn't pay over $100.00 for a gold ring, and it arrives, and I'm dissatisfied with it.... if it had "Free Returns" - I'd return it.... OF Course if I had returned too much already and my ability to return was turned off or revoked.... would I just start leaving negative feedbacks on any items that I had buyer's remorse on, since I no longer can return anything?
Too much of the time the sellers are taking the brunt of this. It's sad. It is costing eBay money. I have stopped promoting my listings because between the final value fees of 15%, the promoted listings of up to 15%, the returns, the scams, and everything else it's harder and harder to make selling stuff on eBay worth my while... when I can SCRAP used gold items and get as much in scrap as I can selling them on eBay (after all the fees!).... I used to stick up for eBay.... Sad.
Sellers should have the same ability and right to leave negative feedback as buyers do.

·2 years agoHow many sellers don't leave any FB for a buyer because that can't leave true FB. Have a friend who had a guy say one seven was missing from deck. She knows it were there as it's in the photo of the hearts. Got them back and it was missing. So no FB and they get away with taking the card.
There needs to be a second 'real feedback for buyers' page that is hidden till a buyer asks a question or bids/buys something. Then the seller can see what other sellers have said about transactions with that person, good or bad. And the link stays active till the CC charge back period has past so 'six months later' charge backs can be noted. And if a seller leaves good FB the buyer never knows, but - maybe - if it's bad FB, the buyer gets to see the FB for their purchase and reply.
We have said this for years but it will never happen.

·2 years ago@seller_news_team,
If this has been brought up before, sorry for bringing it up again. I just checked a member's FB profile page to see their selling feedback and this is what I saw with your Default setting
However, the person has been a seller, but has not sold for over a year. When Most Recent is selected, there is feedback.
Can someone explain to me why that information Is Not Relevant? It might lead an inexperienced member to get the wrong idea about a seller like this one, if they do not switch to Most Recent.
Things like this lead me to ask if any of the team responsible for the update, knows what the word "Relevant" means, or if they looked up the definition on one of the "Random" new age, millennial revised, AI produced, Wiki misinformed, sites, instead of from an Actual Dictionary?
From the Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2022 edition: Verbatim
"... the ability (as of an information retrieval system) to retrieve material that satisfies the needs of the user".

Please change the Default to Most recent (green arrow on pic) instead of Most relevant for how Buyer FB is displayed when sellers view it. I am more concerned with how much FB a Buyer has recently then what the FB was for ... and often only a few items on a Buyer's FB might be relevant to an item they purchase in my categories. Therefore, "most relevant" is irrelevant ...

It seems ebay doesn't take unpaid items seriously because I checked the buyers details and they all had 100% feedback and several hundred. Now what I do for feedback if they don't pay is say "since ebay doesn't allow a negative feedback response now, this is NOT A POSITIVE feedback. Buyer never paid and didn't communicate via messenger to say they couldn't pay. My last one last night kept emailing me to sell an item right there and then so I ended the listing, sent an invoice, and nothing.

·2 years agoBuyers cannot get anything other than a Positive comment, so unless they are selling on the same account, they will always have 100%. The false-Positive comment you left for that buyer can be removed if they complain, and you will be penalized for doing so.
After four days you can cancel with the reason of Buyer Did Not Pay, and that puts an Unpaid slap on their record. 2 or more in 12 months and they will be blocked from bidding on auctions where the seller has applied tight restrictions in their Buyer Requirements settings.
There is not much point in auctioning items with known retail values. List them as Fixed Price with the Immediate Payment Required box checked, and then no one can snatch your item off the market without actually paying you for it first.

"The seller has over a million feedbacks, surely we grant, based on our own experiences, that some negs of the 20,000 are undeserved...".
The seller has over 5 million selling feedback. Their current feedback percentage is 98.0%. Yes some negatives may have been undeserved but, if you could read their neutral feedback probably half of them should be negatives and if that is the case their percentage would be even lower.
Still what you have to consider is there were 40K unhappy buyers, some of whom may have stopped using ebay because of sellers like this one, and I've run across many more TRS profiles like this one while checking info, in order to answer members who have come to the boards for help. This part of my reply was about Confidence in ebay as a platform after all.
FYI. The vast majority of them were for serious undisclosed or not photographed damage. Other main complaints were for listing items that say things like "was supposed to be the set of three, but only one was sent... Wrong items received etc., along with poor communications". Many were from buyers who start with "I have bought from the seller before without problem".
itsjustasprain
·2 years agoProbably the seller is buying pallets of returns in bulk from someplace like Best Buy or Amazon and then listing them without bothering to find out WHY the items were returned in the first place. If that is in fact what they are doing then 98% Positive is probably pretty good for them.

·2 years ago@seller_news_team,
"Over the past few months, we’ve been working to improve the feedback experience for both sellers and buyers on eBay...".
In my humble opinion as a buyer and seller is you skewed the pooch!! An improvement for buyers would have been where a seller's username and feedback number is at the top of the listing, would have been a See all feedback Here button. Not hiding it at the very bottom of a listing many may not scroll down far enough to see.
"Starting this week, sellers’ replies and buyers’ follow-ups to feedback will be shown on all places feedback is viewable. This update includes showing replies on desktop and mobile web pages, the view item page of eBay’s mobile apps, and the storefront feedback profile page".
How much time did you spend on "improving" something that was already available, at least when using a computer? If it was not viewable on the app, that should have been fixed a long time ago.
"...eBay by improving relevancy and displaying images.
Please explain how Relevant feedback comments that are from 6 months ago or in the last year, being displayed before ones received in the last Month, unless the Most Recent button is selected. To most buyers the Most Relevant feedback is the negative and neutrals a seller has received, followed by the most recent ones.
Being able to see an image can be useful, but more often I'm only concerned with comments, and the possible replies from sellers.
Why an (All v) selection button, when there are buttons that can be used to display from 25 to 200 feedback per page, already? Granted, some might want to see feedback from this month or last 6 months only, on a high volume seller's profile, but they probably want to look for the negs and neuts, more than anything else.
"We’ve now made an additional update based on what the seller community says is a top request for how we display feedback".
My guess is you chose the seller's you wanted to hear from, selected from a most synchophantic sellers, (most likely the ones from China) list. Why weren't buyers who also use feedback, whether they leave it or not brought into your discussions? Don't we count? Even though I only qualify as an occasional seller these days on my personal selling ID, I still have enough to have been asked what changes I would like to see, if only based on the length of time I have been selling.
As a buyer who has left feedback for over 5,000 purchases, since 2001, don't you think I might have been interested in any changes how feedback was going to be displayed.
"These feedback enhancements give potential buyers better insights into your products, and can add credibility and drive sales by instilling additional confidence while shopping".
You want to give me more insight into a seller's product, you should have removed "Private listing" from being an option on feedback pages. You should have left in the (see feedback) for a specific multiple quantity item listing. The info culled from those feedback could be very important to buyers.
If your intent was to "add cedibility" a request to the higher ups to allow long time low volume sellers to have Top Rated status so their listings would have a higher search visibility, even if they don't qualify for discounts.
Allow feedback for items where buyers lost an initial dispute, that were later over turned on Appeal.
Remove Top Rated status from sellers like the one in the screen shot below.
Remove the option for very high volume sellers to have feedback removed unless they actually qualified for removal. I wonder how many the one below did get removed.
Honest feedback either positive or non positive, does instill confidence in buyers.
Confidence in this site has less to do with feedback, than it does from decisions handed down from On High, but real improvements to feedback might help.

·2 years ago@a_c_green,
My first buying account was started in `98 and had around 700 Fb.
I sold from my brick and mortar store from `01 - `08 when I closed it. 2,500 or so FB with 3 neutrals. For slow shipping. All were for paper payments that had to be verified.
I started this ID in `03 when I moved and had to go with a new internet provider and couldn't change the info on the `98 account, remember what a pain dial up connections were? For years 1 neg I received as a buyer for not paying, (too many purchases in one week, one of which slipped through the cracks) Pre-electronic payments. I had a 99.9% feedback as a buyer for years not just 12 months.
I started my personal selling only account in `03 as well, it has over 3K feedback (0) neuts or negs. Yet I was never asked to participate in any Phone interviews, or direct from ebay surveys, either. I gave up on the more or less useless surveys ebay sends every body. I have received Christmas gifts from them the last few years, but I'd rather have a lifetime TRS even w/o discounts, than the gifts.
Maybe they do not want to hear from me, because I was one of those sellers not allowed access to ebay open in Chicago in `08 because I had on an eBay protest T-shirt. I guess J.D. didn't like me or my shirt. I was just "Noise" after all.

·2 years agoWell you know they do say that an elephant has nothing on ebay as far as memories go.
Once on the naughty list you're there forever it seems.

·2 years agoFeedback is very one-sided so is it a useful tool?? Sellers should be able to leave feedback ESPECIALLY for NON_PAYERS!
quicksilverdiecast
·2 years agoThat is one of the reasons they blocked sellers from leaving deserved neg feedbacks, because the deadbeat s and scammers whined to ebay with threats of leaving ebay.(this is what the phone answerer stated upon questioning them back when they pulled this stunt...) There is only one fair feedback system, where the playing field is level and feedbacks can flow in either direction....then if EITHER seller OR buyer leaves what the other feels is unjust, as in many cases elsewhere when a amicable agreement between two parties cannot be reached, that both sides agree to accept a mediators decision and whatever the result so be it...anything else short of that is pointless, worthless, lacks common sense, and lacks transparency....as you are witnessing the chaos in the real current events.
my_boston_baked_beans
·2 years agoThat is all well and good, but MOST of my buyers do NOT leave feedback. Despite the fact that feedback is voluntary it would be nice for ebay to encourage it's use across the board....
quicksilverdiecast
·2 years agoAnd yet ebay still bases your seller performance on the feedback system and when a line is crossed on the number of neg feedbacks(or any aspect of the feedback ratings) left(just or unjust) ebay will start dinging your account and can lose if any acquired discounts of ebay fees....sounds like an easy way for ebay to get out of giving fee discounts....right hand gives it out left hand takes it back system. Just like making a seller responsible for whether USPS or any other carrier scans an item within "ebays" determined time frame...and when you contact the carrier and explain it, they laugh at you and tell you to have ebay start delivering their own stuff...(Amazon did just that as well as having the driver take a pic to prove item was delivered)and NO I do not expect ebay to develop that system...I know better.

·2 years agoand whats about scammers ? fact of the matter is many scammers joining ebay everyday and scamming sellers, would be glad if ebay start focus on core issues how to stop scammers from scamming. many bad buyers abuse the policies and break the items or damage it little bit in order to get it free , so posting image on feedback does not clarify the reason behind it.

·2 years agoDear eBay Community,
Thank you for the informative message from the "seller_news_team" regarding shipping delays due to severe weather conditions in California and the West Coast. While I appreciate eBay's efforts to prioritize community safety and provide protection for sellers impacted by these events, I must bring to your attention that these measures have unfortunately not resolved the ongoing restriction on my eBay account.
Despite experiencing delays and challenges in shipping items to carriers, my account remains unjustly restricted, hindering my ability to conduct business on the platform. Despite having a Top Rated status and a history of positive feedback, the restrictions persist without clear resolution.
I have been diligently following local guidance on travel and safety precautions and have made every effort to ensure the safety and timely delivery of items to buyers. However, despite these efforts, the account restriction remains unchanged.
I kindly request further assistance and clarification from eBay's support team regarding the status of my account and any additional steps that can be taken to address this issue. It is crucial that my account restriction be resolved promptly to allow me to resume normal selling activities on eBay.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt response and assistance in resolving this issue.
Sincerely, Jwdcreation.

·2 years agoTbh, looking at your feedback, I don't think it has anything to do with weather on the USA west coast causing shipping delays.

·2 years agoYea, I was thinking the same thing.
He has a rating of at or near body temp, which is good. Gooder than mine because an order that was placed on Friday, shipped on Monday and not received by today (Wednesday) is just too long to wait. LoL
Yea, if I could, I'd cancel the sale and make him beg ebay for a refund for a few weeks.
Oh well, another volunteer to my banned community (he's probably already there under other names).
LoL.
What a life.

·2 years agoThe neutral on the lube was priceless 🙂 No offence to seller. I don't notify anyone their item has been delivered either.

·2 years agoMy favorite Neutral on that page would have to be this feedback that defies all logic: 'It was canceled. I can’t leave a Feedback.'
brightlightbookseller
·2 years agoLol, that's horrible. We actually got a Negative from a buyer who cancelled, saying some nonsense about the price going up after they canceled (it didn't). Fortunately we got that one removed. My current annoyance is the buyer who left a neutral just saying "Fair purchase".
wyldflower002
·2 years agoI got one like that too on a new belt for a snowmobile, he put ok with a neutral and it was new in the cardboard from the manufacturer.

·2 years agoHow do you rectify a buyer who uses a freight forwarder in the U.S. that claims damage, but won't/can't send the product back and leaves negative feedback? TR sellers are covered for U.S. buyers and buyers using eBay international shipping but not scammers using U.S. freight forward companies.

·2 years agoFeedback served a purpose back when no protection was given to buyers. Today it's no longer needed and many buyers don't even know how to use it. They rate the shipping service, packages left in the rain and the item's quality. With the buyer protection in place today, it's no longer needed.

·2 years ago@seller_news_team I guess this is important to someone, and it likely gave a few employees meaning in their work. But frankly, with all the issues facing the platform in 2024, it seems odd to me that anyone would spend months working on feedback, which is down the list of importance like 75 spots.

·2 years agoFeedback is yesterdays news with buyers, and many seller are only leaving feedback because they have it set up to do automatically.
Time for some new eBay innovation.
goodnu9
·2 years agoMy problem is buyers not leaving positive feedback after 30 days. They must be happy with the item but are they too lazy or don't care to leave feedback because "I got mine!" attitude? I always leave positive feedback to the buyer when they pay. I'm not a seller who says to the buyer, "When you leave me positive feedback, I will do the same".
Why doesn't eBay come up with a system when after 30 days if the buyer doesn't leave feedback, eBay will leave positive feedback to the seller with an asterisk (left by eBay-buyer no complaints)? Positive feedback is very important to me.
kitschy*loot
·2 years agoFeedback is voluntary and many opt to not volunteer. I don't have to leave a seller any feedback if I don't want to, but normally I enjoy leaving excellent feedback to those who deserve it.
Seller's don't automatically deserve positive feedback because the buyer didn't leave any. Sometimes I don't leave any feedback for a seller because it would be less than favorable and I only leave negatives for the worst sellers I interact with and neutrals for those who haven't done bad enough to deserve a negative but are far from positive.
If a system was put in place where I knew sellers would get auto positives I would then start volunteering to give them the feedback they deserve even if it was negative or neutral... seller's who would more than likely only get positives would probably love a system like you suggest, but if they were going to get a negative or neutral to prevent auto positives I'll bet they wouldn't.
arraus
·2 years agoIt would be great if an automatic Positive feedback would occur at the end of 30 days, if no claims, disputes, or feedback had been left... maybe. It would be an experiment.
quicksilverdiecast
·2 years agoThat will NEVER happen as it would screw up their penalty system and never be able to take back any discounts a seller earned by jumping thru all the hoops.....remember you have to set back and connect all the dots to even begin to understand why.....dig down to at least the 4th level before you can figure it out...
arraus
·2 years agoI'm so tired of being abused by Buyers... and the more it happens, the more others do it.
It seems when the Response option started, eBay CS completely stopped correcting retaliatory negative feedback from buyers.
Buyer never contacted me before it was shipped or received. The only reason they communicated at all was I sent a Thank you message after it was received, asking for Positive feedback if they were happy. They demanded a return on a No Return item. We don't do that because we can't resell plumbing when we don't know what they did to it. We also decrease our prices for No Returns.
I have never felt so unprotected by eBay.
Is this retaliatory buyer feedback, that leaves a Negative rating, going to stand?! The Response option doesn't outweigh the negative ratings.
I've been asked for extra $, above and beyond 100% full refund (including shipping), and that buyer left negative feedback because we refused to pay them extra. eBay took the blatant comment (that said they were leaving the negative because we didn't pay them EXTRA for inconvenience) but eBay refused to remove the rating.
fern*wood
·2 years agoNever do that.
arraus
·2 years ago@fern*wood It was the first time I did. I was inspired by another seller. I will never again.
Still, why does eBay allow Buyers to leave negative feedback for something that was not offered in original listing (like returns)?
esg-enterprises
·2 years ago@profitweb My son was recently left a negative by a buyer who canceled the order before it was ever shipped because ebay told him the expected delivery was longer than he liked. I told him to call about it and he was like dad, no way I am wasting my time calling, I could care less.
chariot_badges
·2 years agoI dunno why.
If I was a buyer thinking about buying something from you, and if I was to read it, I'd prolly laugh first, then say "Preach on brother. Testify!"
Then, I'd buy from you even if the price was a couple bucks more.
But, that's me. I'm not normal.
movieman630
·2 years agoLetting buyers abuse sellers by allowing them to do what they've done to me twice this month.
1. Letting them post Negative FB on a cancelled transaction when the buyer asked to cancel and I did so without protest almost immediately.
2. Letting the buyer post negative FB with lies about "no tracking" when the tracking number was posted when the label was printed. Also allowing the buyer to post Negative FB for a USPS lost package is counterproductive. We should not be held responsible for the shipping agents mistakes, especially if we live up to our end of the bargain. I refunded their item ($2.95 of which I made less than 90 cents) almost immediately when they opened the case. What else could I have done for them?
Ebay needs to build better "firewalls" to protect their sellers from these kinds of FB. They could put restrictions in place, such as if they open a case and it's resolved the same day. BLOCK NEGATIVES.
Set up prompts when a buyer wants to leave negative FB, that ask questions about the transaction. Like, "was this item lost by the shipping agent?" If they answer, yet. BLOCK NEGATIVES.
"Were you refunded in full?" If they answer yes, or ebay's programming can just tell from the transaction info. BLOCK NEGATIVES.
You get the point. If the buyer has to answer questions before they leave the negative it will cut down on the abusive buyers.
Sellers are ebay's investment. They need to do a better job protecting their investment.
