    Disgusted seller

    Summary: peggburde expressed frustration with eBay's decision to label their authentic Louis Vuitton handbag as counterfeit after an AI review. They appealed but their appeal was declined swiftly. ryry-jj suggested that issues might arise from listing practices or brand policies, especially if the item is described as 'new' without proper manufacturer authentication. luckythewinner referenced eBay's user agreement, indicating limited recourse apart from attempting to persuade eBay to reconsider. albertabrightalberta sought clarification on whether the item was physically authenticated or if AI was involved in the listing removal. adamcartwright advised listing high-end brand items as 'pre-owned, never used' to avoid such issues.

    What recourse does a seller have if EBay Authenticator , using AI declares your authentic item a fake? I appealed and uploaded a picture of the original price card inside the LV handbag. Within an hour my appeal was declined. (AI again?) the handbag was NOT a fake. I listed it as “brand new” because I NEVER used it, it was pristine and my listing photos included the date code number! It probably should have been listed as “pre-owned”but since it was never used I listed it as new. In any case, it was NOT counterfeit and never used and I am the original owner and purchased it myself! eBay says it cannot be relisted!

    Certain brands. particularly the high end ones, but also some small/local brands, will get your "New" items pulled off eBay because they don't want anyone but authorized dealers selling their new merchandise.

    For future listings, just describe stuff as preowned, never used.

    I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.104View listings

    @peggburde

    Please clarify.

    Did you actually sell a bag that went to the authenticator and was deemed fake?

    ^^^If that happened, it was definitely NOT AI that deemed it as fake. Items sent to the authenticators are handled by humans and AI isn't in the picture.

    Or was a listing removed because it was reported and deemed fake by AI?

    If the latter and the listing was removed following a report, it's definitely a possibility that AI made a decision.

    How you answer and clarify will determine the steps to take.

    What recourse does a seller have

    Here is what the eBay user agreement says:

    "we reserve the right to refuse, modify, or terminate all or part of our Services to anyone for any reason at our discretion."
    https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/user-agreement?id=4259

    So based on that, I would say the only recourse you have is trying to get eBay to change their mind.

    You really don't have any on ebay. If eBay fails it, they fail it & you cannot relist it anymore.

    Sometimes these failures come from the fact that you are not licensed to sell certain items, eBay is notified by manufactures and any non authorized listing is considered a fake. Not sure about LV purses, and yes, selling as new could trigger it since new might have to include certain manufacturer guarantees that you can't provide with a "new" product ...again not sure about LV
