Did a Google Seach on all the items NO Ebay
I just did a Google search on all the items I sell, like sewing patterns only Amazon showed up in the search.
On fabric, almost all were on Amazon, just a few were other sites. So what is going on?

·2 years agoI suspect most of my sales and views are from somebody typing that specific item and model number into google to find a direct replacement. Then they find my tested, open box item for 50-75% of a new model and choose that instead since it is known to be reliable equipment. Someone that was intending to buy a used item might choose my listing instead for a little more, although I think currently people are opting for the used item instead.
I decided to investigate this again and realized that the google shopping page for one particular item is just a complete mess in general. The "All" section is returning much better shopping results with lower priced and more relevant results, though no ebay results for this particular items. So maybe it's a problem with google shopping in particular right now.

your ebay listing was the first to come up.
For the life of me I can't understand why someone would do a google search for a item on ebay.

·2 years agoI totally do - Google is a gateway. People looking for a certain item will often google it and if eBay comes up, great, but there are so many selling sites now that what they seek could be anywhere now, so it pays to have eBay exposure on Google. I've been grousing about my stats and physics books coming up AFTER a Thriftbooks listing that is sold out on Google, but then my books have only been listed for several days and it takes a while to populate an external search engine - I'm hoping they start showing up soon because frequently book searches take place on Google first.

·2 years agoI'd like to put this discussion back on the rails by reminding people that this is about listings not showing up in google shopping. You are free to go through my listings, but that is not what we are talking about.
The bottom line is almost all of my listings are not showing up on google. I'm asking why they are not showing up on google when you directly search for the exact title. Or part of the title - particularly the brand and model.
It's weird that you barge in and immediately try to derail the discussion - you two have very clearly cherry-picked the worst listings you could find; old listings which I now have deleted because they are irrelevant. In some of my listings I even post videos of my items functioning which is well above standard.

·2 years agoBecause Google is now placing more focus on its shopping comparator venue due to online retailer competition. Who knows Google may even have it running or near running in the green. Google Shopping has never been a big money generator but things are changing, more and more people shopping on cellphones and using voice search to do so.
I've said it time and again in these forums, the Internet whether selling here, Poshmark or elsewhere the landscape is looking more and more like brick and mortar retail has been for ages. Real competition from every direction for consumer traffic and sales.

·2 years agoI sell very specific equipment for the lowest price on the internet; I was doing surprisingly ok in December and now once again I have no sales and almost no views. I searched google to see if my literal best prices on the internet with full model name in the title were being displayed, as they had been in the past, and they are completely absent. I can only find one item of mine on google out of my dozen or so listings.
Some ebay listings are displayed, but they are exclusively for the wrong product and from other sellers. So specifically, my literally MOST RELEVANT products are not being shown on google in favor of the wrong items.
My items completely depend on their google visibility to sell. I've already had good experiences on another site and I'm listing everything on a different site this week which I suspect will become my primary venue - something I should have done a long time ago.
Fees go up, sales go down.

They have a listing for a multi gemstone sterling silver pendant but it's also 18K plated? No comprendo. 😶

·2 years agoI don't understand what the problem with that is. I've clearly listed it as such. BUT I've removed that item and the 2 other bad listings I have so that you can now properly assess my items instead of nitpicking the 3 newbie listings that I made when I first started.

·2 years agoI think it really, really depends on what you're selling. I did searches for several of my things and my listings were all right up at the top-- in fact, for "Pokemon Teacup Time Pikachu" and "Twisted Wonderland Vil chokonose figure," my listings were the very first results.

·2 years agoWhen I used to enter a manufacturer and part number into a web search, Amazon would have a search result 100% of the time. Clicking on that result would display a fake listing page on Amazon. The item was Out of Stock 99% of the time, no estimate of when it would be restocked or price. There were plenty of Other Items You May Like displayed. So consider Amazon search results with a grain of salt. Just a way to get potential buyers onto their website.
I do not believe the theory of Ending Listings and Relisting them to churn up more views/traffic. I leave my existing listings unchanged and get 65% External Site Views from search engines some days.

I asked Google Phone Voice Search App to find one of my listings and it came back with Ho-Ho's. So I picked up a box Ho-Ho's as I am ever so excited to see what it wants me to do next!

·2 years agoOf course they still exist... I even sent message of suggestion to the US State Department to weaponize them dropping hundreds of thousands of them in areas of conflict around the world. After eating a dozen people going to be too sick to fight or they'll be asleep on a sugar OD.
I'm so far ahead of my time I can't even catsup.

·2 years agoI did a search for "faux fur golden orange" and yours was the 17th in line. Clicking in it took me directly to your listing page.
O.K. - Not at the top but considering the number of vendors I would be happy with that.
Then I did a search for "fabric remnants". eBay was the second listing although it directed you to eBay's search page not any specific seller. On the other hand, let's face it, it is any overly generic search.
You need to put some specificity in each of your listing titles, not just generic "fabric remnants".
People who are searching have something specific in mind even if it is only stripes, geometrics, cotton, wool, a brand name, or a specific length or width, etc. Incorporate those likely search terms into your listing titles. Yes, you have a lot of brands, so mix them up in put a few different ones in each title along with "and others". It will increase the likelihood of a hit.
