"detailed seller rating"
Is it meaningful? Seems to bear no relationship with buyer experience. ie: blank on "accurate description" ever since I have used ebay's AI description even with edits to correct it.

·11 months agoDSR's are an even more useless relic of the past than feedback is. Most sales will have 2-3 of them given automatic 5 stars anyhow..

OP11 months agoThanks!! Hadn't thought of the "relic" aspect. Maybe I'm still a virgin.

·11 months agoI don't pay any attention to the detailed seller ratings (DSR stars) when I buy. Heck, I rarely even think to look at feedback, but I do notice when AI is used for descriptions and I've been known to back out of those listings.

OP11 months agoNICE! And I agree with your assessment of AI descriptions. It has just seemed to me that I have been slammed, by the bay, for using AI descriptions lately. Lazy, on my part, I guess. Thank you!!

·11 months agoI have found the number of buyers who take the time to leave DSR ratings has been decreasing since I returned to Ebay selling during the Covid lockdown.
The number of buyers leaving FB has been decreasing even longer, and now we have automatic FB when the buyer chooses to leave none.
This entire FB function is worthless, unnatural and was devised by Pierre to avoid policing the site, Later CEOs created the DSRs to create structure and the appearance of a worthwhile function. it failed.
FB is a way for an unhappy buyer to vent. Some buyers are unhappy because they are treated badly, others are always unhappy. Ebay does not us FB to evaluate US sellers because does not reflect the quality of service provided by most sellers. I have gotten negative FB for transactions with no problem, and not gotten a negative when I deserved one.

·11 months agoglitch, or not enough have bothered (which seems odd) to do a "star" rating for that.

OP11 months ago"message 3 of 2"???

OP11 months agoIt should be noted that several conflicting responses from customer service ("lack of experience" I've been selling on ebay for 25 years. Or lack of volume of sales not true. Or only buyer can leave and often they do not. But only in past 3 or 4 months?? Or does it relate to eby's offering of AI description? I have used it verbatim, I have edited, and I have deleted completely and written my own as in past.

·11 months agoYou are referring to the 'Star' ratings. Nobody cares and ebay does NOT hold a seller accountable for whatever those ratings are....and that is simply all that matters.

OP11 months agoWrong answer! But thank you for your response anyway. I did not refer to "star" ratings and did not mention stars. A debater who uses absolutes ("nobody cares" or "everybody knows" or similar statements of totality) has self-destroyed his argument. How can one determine who "nobody" is?). "Many" might work or "experts" can claim or "personal experience" might indicate something but a person cannot prove a point by claiming that "nobody" cares. You never met me nor have you consulted me, bu I care and that means that "somebody" cares, which makes your statement false.
My point refers to ebay's "Detailed Seller Rating" system which uses numbers from one to five to allow buyer to express their satisfaction with a transaction. It is NOT compusory that they do so but ebay provides a means for it. Ebay touts this rating system as providing as "safe" arena for buyers and sellers alike. I don't know about you, but I sell as Buy It Now and specify payment prior to shipment. I think that somewhat protects me. There are, and al;ways will be, some who can "game" the system. One of my earliest sales was for less than $10 for an item that was in a factory sealed packlage. I said that it was new and buyer complained that it was used, with wrench marks and shreds of teflon tape. He went to ebay, which polluted my record and demanded a replacement at no charge. What he would have received was from the same package so I opted to refund him and told him to keep the item. I wonder what his rating of me would have been.
I've been selling on ebay for 25 years and I've been dealing with retail longer than that. If you had a choice of seller for any item you might wish to purchase from a total stranger, who would you prefer to deal with: a seller with five points for "Accurate Description" or another seller offering the same item at same price but who ebay says has zero points for descrption accuracy buit five points each for "Reasonable Shipping Cost", "Shipping Speed", and "Communication". Why would a series of buyers, having no knowledge of each other consistently "award" 5 points for some attributes and a resounding ZERO for an attribute which may be of utmost importance???
Yes, I'm aware of ebay's "Not As Described" fallback policy as reason to refund. But which would you rather do: receive an item that was as described (accurately) or something that differred but which you can return for refund and search further for what you want or need???
Ebay provides the Detailed Seller Rating System for buyers to use, but it's not compulsory that buyers do so. Hence you run into an occasion where the buyer expects a Titanic but receives a canoe. Is there a fault here? and whose?

You mean these "Detailed Seller Ratings", displayed with stars just like @stainlessenginecovers said, despite you so rudely claiming they didn't understand?
They have no impact on your account, and yes, some buyers might look, but if they tip the scale between a buyer buying from you or not, then I doubt you're missing out on much.
