delete feedback left for buyer
I sold an item and after it shipped I left positive feedback for the buyer. but as soon as buyer received item started a return process saying item didn't match description. But the issue is the dimensions are in the description. I think the buyer was trying to scam me . So I want to remove the feedback I left for them. Can I? How?

·3 years agoIf you WERE able to delete the positive feedback you left for the buyer, what would that accomplish exactly?
So they'd have one less positive FB. Big whop. And you'd feel better? As someone else mentioned, it's not about feelings, either theirs or yours.

·3 years agoHave you ever seen a seller who does not leave positive feedback first give a positive feedback to a buyer who leaves them a negative feedback?
I don't think so.
So basically it's, if you leave me a positive, I'll leave you a positive.

·3 years agoAs a business, you have to get the idea of retaliating against your customers out of your head, this includes the bad ones. The feedback you left for them really means nothing and no one will say "Thank God" here's a good buyer.
Just let it go, and by the way I leave positive automatically once item is paid for, I've had some returns, but I am not going to change because of a couple bad buyers.

·3 years agoI see I'm in the minority here.
I leave feedback for my buyers first.
I leave feedback to show my appreciation for their purchase.
I don't feel the need to hold on to it just in case something goes wrong.
Just because there's a problem with that transaction doesn't mean I want to take my positive feedback.
In this case the OP wants to take back the positive feedback simply because the buyers wants to do a INAD return.
I don't feel that's right, but that's just me.
I guess we all have our different ways of doing things.

·3 years agoI leave it first, also. But I don't think any further than that about it.

·3 years agoThat is one way of doing feedback.
It does not negate the meaningless feedback for the buyer.
Paid is positive. Really?
But it is meaningless. There is no way for a seller to let others know about the buyers that are rampant on these boards. Nor, basically, has there ever been. Now that a large percentage of transactions are buy it now even honest feedback for a buyer would have zero impact.

·3 years agoI put a thank you inside every box. That let's buyer know that I am happy they paid fast. True feedback is meaningless but it's wrong for a buyer to have a feedback and they return an item by lying.

·3 years agoI agree with inhawaii. I don't wait. A lot of buyers are looking forward to that feedback. I do have buyers who prefer to buy items separately at same time for multiple feedbacks. These are my repeat buyers and so what if it's .30 cents per transaction.
Now, if its someone with no feedback as a buyer...that's totally different...or with a lot of neutral or negative feedbacks.

·3 years agoWell that is weird because buyers can leave a feedback for each item they purchase regardless if it's one at a time or a bunch of items using the cart with a single payment.

·3 years agoNot the "minority" if you include the sellers who are not replying because they think the entire idea of getting worked up over a meaningless positive you left for a buyer who turns out to cause you issues is petty and pointless.
The feedback is meaningless to the buyer, it does nothing for them, who cares if they have x amount of feedback or x+1.
I have no particular opinion about leaving feedback first or second, I just leave it when I get the thought in my head to do so (usually once a week, sometimes every two weeks).

·3 years agoI don't know of we're in the minority or not, but I always leave feedback upon payment. It's a quick and easy way to say, "Thank you," as I would if I were at the counter in a B&M store. I never anticipate problems with a transaction.

·3 years agoThis is why I never leave positive feedback until I receive positive feedback from the buyer.

Not a good idea, you always have to appreciate your buyers regardless of the outcome.

·3 years agoI'm planning on waiting until my buyers receive their package before I leave positive feedback, is that okay to do?
chapeau-noir
·3 years agoSince buyer feedback is basically meaningless as a metric, I see no difference in leaving it after they've paid, or the package has been shipped or just waiting until they leave it.
IMHO it's a difference that makes no difference.
ETA: I use it as a handshake.

·3 years agoYou can't . This is another reason why I never leave the feedback first. Anyway, all buyers have 100% feedback including the scammers. Make sure that you block this buyer. The buyer lied so that they do not pay the return shipping. Not a scam, he /she is just an irresponsible loser/cheapsake and can't admit that they failed to read the description. This is the cost of doing business. Make sure that you jot down the refund as a business expense. The payment still shows in the INCOME side but it went out as a BUSINESS DEDUCTION. You lost time and 30 cents on this transaction. Goodluck on your future sales.

·3 years agoYou can't. Once it's there, it's there indefinitely, unless it happens to have negative wording, instead of postive.
pargran3
·3 years agoNo.
And there you have one reason sellers do not leave a positive feedback for a buyer with the only reason that the buyer paid for an item...like gee whiz, that is the minimum of expectations.
And there you have another reason that feedback is monumentally not of any value for buyers any more. The only feedback possible is positive. Believe it or not, not all buyers that pay deserve positive feedback.
And the debate goes on about positive nah nah nah.

·3 years agoPositive feedback cannot be removed.
klhmdg
·3 years agoNo you can not.
Sellers can not change FB already left.
Since FB is not required, it may be a good idea to wait for the buyer to leave FB before you do.
Then you know the buyer is satisfied and the transaction is over.
iamalwaysright
·3 years agoYou can't. That's why some sellers choose to wait until they know the buyer is satisfied before leaving feedback. You'll hear a lot of debate on this in here though.
I have no comment on when feedback should be left. You can leave a Follow Up feedback though. But just know that if anything sounds remotely bad to the buyer, they can call ebay and have them remove it.
