I think this a great new eBay feature. Because as a buyer I want to be able to save on shipping. Many sellers don’t have their auctions end the same day. If they did it would help resolve this issue.
Also by eBay automatically charging the buyer’s credit card on day 8 after the auction lowers the number of deadbeat bidders. As a seller would you rather have less deadbeat buyers but have to wait a few extra days to get paid. Seems like a pretty fair trade off to me. This systems has to be better than the early days of eBay where sellers had to wait at least a week if not longer for the buyer to send a check. The seller then would have to wait for the funds to clear at their bank which could another week after the checks are deposited.
I think sellers have gotten spoiled. A seven day hold is nothing compared to waiting for checks and funds to clear the bank.

·6 months agoIt actually gives the buyer two options, payment within 1-hour or payment after 7-days. If the buyer is expecting to bid on multiple things from the same seller, this allows them more time to bid and combine shipping. They can of course choose to pay earlier then the 7-days, but if they dont will be automatically charged exactly 7 days after the auction ends. It is more to help sellers cut down on unpaid orders.
You can opt out of it by going to this link below. Under "Buyer Rules" uncheck the box requiring a payment method for bids.

Sorry, I am selling things to be sold and paid for and am not interested in 'waiting' for payment as well as 7 days past the 'win' of an auction is against ebay policy and you would be sanctioned for 'non-payment' should you win and not pay on time. Thanks for your interest

·6 months agoActually, I’m guessing that @candle48 is seeing that as a message from eBay due to the autopay feature.
@candle48 , you can’t change it for this order and will have to wait (or if you don’t have anything else the buyer might be interested in, just shoot them a message and let them know that if they go ahead and complete the payment, you can get it on its way to them faster). But if you want to avoid it going forward, you can disable the option in your Selling Preferences to require a payment method to place a bid, and/or disable Combined Shipping. Either change will shift that timeframe back to the typical standard.
