Default auction payment on - new member hasn't paid - why are they not enrolled
Spoke about this 'purchase' on other post that's now on page 5 so starting this.
Found out about the 'buyer is auto billed' deal and that we were enrolled into it. Also found out that most people replying thought that:
(1) - only some buyers would have to fill out the payment info before bidding.
(2) - the payments - offers and auctions - would be 'auto done' within seconds. (we don't do offers so that part doesn't matter to us)
So have any of you had an auction end and show up as paid seconds later - and if any of you tried to offer or bid were you asked or not. If not that the 'only some people' part would be correct.
We sold three auction after we was auto opt in. The two long time members paid - one within minutes, other the next day. The third guy was a newbie with four days under their belt. Now three days after auction ended and no payment.
So it seems that our bidders either were not asked - or were and filled the form - and ebay didn't instant auto pay, so if all of these had been won by same person we would have been able to send invoice, or so it seems.
And if he filled the form is ebay waiting till the 'four days to pay' rule plays out before they auto pay on him?
You would think that ebay would make .. force .. all newbie to fill out payment info when they enrolled.

Guy never paid, sale was cancelled - checked his feedback hours later and he' s now NARU - ID's life span was 13 days.

·2 years agoYou would think eBay would rationally come up with that without all of us having to suggest it. I've left feedback for eBay and contacted them with logical solutions besides requiring payment info and labeling it as an "improvement" with much easier results. I've reached out to several sellers and noe of them even knew they were enroled in this scam.
Ebay is pathetic. I will be looking elsewhere to buy and sell.

·2 years agoI use the auction format almost exclusively and I have not had a situation where this has occurred yet but I did not have any active listings for a couple of weeks. I have always considered the IPR on offers and BIN to be a double edged sword. While it may cut down on the non-payers there are implications for an increase in cancelation requests or returns if the buyer does not make the cancelation window. I would much rather have a non-payer than have to deal with returns and potential postage costs.

·2 years agoI won an auction yesterday and one last week. I paid them eventually but not right away. I was able to change which credit card I used also. Maybe it's for new eBayers? I don't know how it works.

·2 years agoI've been on here for 12 years with stellar feedback (100%) as buyer and seller. It is not for new ebayers. I've never been late with a payment. I've waited a couple days for three sellers because they offer combined shipping on auction items... WITHIN 7 DAYS! Ebay sucks, plain and simple.
If they wanted to do this correctly, they would put every new ebayer into a probationary period for 6 months and/or feedback score of 50 or 100. Too simple for the scholars at ebay I guess.

·2 years agoIf it's been 3 days since the end of that auction/listing and that buyer has not paid, then you can cancel, citing buyer did not pay as your reason after 96 hours.

Nowhere has we read an official anything from ebay about this, where are people coming up with the 'instant payment' part. As far as we know the 4 days to pay rule is still in affect. Would this override it.
and

I would guess if all three of our auctions ended and seconds later had been marked paid/ship after reloading the sold ... I mean orders page, then payment would be instant.

·2 years ago@steve_stuff eBay is not "waiting" for day 4. IF the buyer was opted in the payment would be made already.
I dont do auctions but on Offers I have seen that IF I accept the offer it is paid.
Since I know it is not someone playing games I take the offer more seriously than it if wasnt approved for payment. I have had 3 and they went through within half an hour to "Paid OK to Ship"

·2 years agoI have had this issue a few times in the past 2+ years.
Buyer pays. Everything looks good. I ship. No issues! Then about 2 to 3 weeks later, I get a message from eBay not to ship. Buyer is not registered / verified.
This was never an issue with eBay & PayPal. Why is it becoming an issue now? No one should be able to buy on eBay without being registered and verified.
Simple eBay customer service. Protect the seller, the buyer, and eBay's reputation!

·2 years agoIt is not rolled out to all buyers yet especially on auctions.
The buyer also has to be "in" - I am surprised eBay doesnt have all new buyers required but it wiuldnt be the 1st time eBay "surprised" me.
Soon it will be all buyers.
IF you have auctions and someone bids on 2 or more and you combine shipping, the buyer will over pay shipping but you can just refund the overage.
This is "new" and Im sure a work in progress with many updates coming over time.

eBay is randomly requiring a payment method when making an offer, however the seller has a setting they can enable that requires buyers to provide a payment method before they bid, and a separate setting that requires buyers to provide a payment method before making an offer.
Sellers should check their settings to see if eBay opted them in requiring payment method before offers. They can edit it to remove it but I wouldn't unless I combined offers.
I think it's a great idea to require a payment method before bidding, too. f you bid you're required to pay so why not get it done automatically? Then the seller doesn't have to keep checking to see if you paid, when you paid, etc., and worry if you'll pay or not.

The ridiculous part is that some buyers and sellers were entered into this "improvement" with no alert or communication. I've talked to several sellers that have wondered why their items now sell for 75% of what they usually do. Care to take a stab at this?

·2 years agoIs it expecting too much to get this right before forcing these "improvements" on long time ebayers with 100% positive feedback? The "new" excuse doesn't work when it comes to this. I wonder what new improvements and upadtes the ebay scholars will come up with tomorrow? I swear they're no better than the US government. Ruin something with a government program and "fix" it with another government program.

·2 years agoI believe it is still in the testing phase and actually may NEVER be fully implemented. Most people who bid on an auction does not want to give payment out freely not knowing the final end result of the auction. I know I would never put payment info into the system just to bid on an auction.

·2 years agoWell, I've neen on here 12 years with 100% feedback the entire time and... had to enter payment information. Let me know how it goes when they "ask" you for payment info to bid on an item and if you still will "never put payment info into the system"

·2 years agobecause as far as any of us know this is still in the "test" phase, and although it would seem that a "new" buyer/bidder would be one of the best candidates to be in the "test", there seem to be no rhyme nor reason as to who is in the "test"
