Decription clearly stated flaws
Summary: bobbieanne sold items with flaws disclosed in the listing, but the buyer claimed not to have noticed these and accused them of deception. Several participants advised bobbieanne to allow a return and issue a refund upon receiving the items back, with some suggesting blocking the buyer afterwards. The discussion highlighted a common issue where buyers on platforms like eBay may not read descriptions, especially through mobile apps. Others shared similar experiences and suggested that blocking problematic buyers can be an effective measure.
Recently sold a set of items with the flaws clearly listed in the description and in the condition. Buyer received and said I was doing bait and switch since these problems existed and she never looked at the photos or read the complete description. She even sent photos of the problems that were almost like the photos that I had put on the listing. When I pointed that out she now says that the broken piece was not taped to the main piece as stated and that I am scamming her. Any resolution besides eating this $100+ sale?

If you find a practical resolution to avoid having to refund a "not as described" dispute, there are millions of sellers on eBay who would love to hear the answer.

·Aug 8, 2026 at 5:31 PMA majority of Ebay orders now come from the mobile app.
Mobile app users do not invest the time in reading descriptions or viewing all the pictures.
Authorize a return. Upon receipt, refund. Move on.

·Aug 8, 2026 at 5:26 PMThis happens quiet a bit on eBay since half of the people who buy here do not read the listings or descriptions. When I first started selling empty video game cases I put in the title that there was no game included but always had people who asked, Where's the game? Now the first words in my title are NO GAME and that has seemed to work out.
Tell the customer to open a return case and ship it back to you. Then when you receive it deduct the postage from the return and issue a refund. THEN BLOCK HER!

·Aug 8, 2026 at 12:31 PMTell her to file for a return. Supply a return label. Refund only when you get the items back. Do NOT refund before you get the items back.
Or you can just refund and lose the item also. Your choice.
Your situation occurs on ebay frequently. The buyer can get a refund for just about any reason including not reading the description or seeing the pictures. That's how ebay works. All you can hope for is that these situations are rare.

OPAug 8, 2026 at 12:34 PMThanks. I also find it interesting that she has received over 600 feedbacks as a buyer, but she has never left a feedback for a seller.
