customer service is gone
It will be interesting to see the long range results of no customer service. Companies with good CS are known to prosper such as Costco. With so many other venues coming into existence on the internet the competition will increase and eventually diminish sales and profits for sellers using Ebay. Every time a new update is made I cringe at the increase in fees and changes making selling more difficult. Then add on the constantly increased postage and having to pay fees on that amount plus sales tax. I'm 78 now and have been an active seller for at least 25 years. Am happy that will end soon.

·2 years agoIMO Ebay customer service never was useful because they had no experience as an Ebay seller and for legal reasons they were not trained to deal with issues of policy.
In the early days, that was not a real issue because Ebay did nothing but host listings. They did not take payments, offer a warranty and said nothing other than pound sand about issues with buyers or sellers.
It is still not an issue since most buyers and sellers never have a reason to contact them. The one's who do appear to have an aversion to reading or a reading deficit. Some have a shopping experience deficit as well, and must be buying at farm stands or yard sales.
Ebay is no worse than other marketplace sites.
Costco has great customer friendly policies, no 3P sellers to muddy the waters, and an excellent group of buyers who select products. And when a buyer makes a mistake, Costco is quick to dump the bad product. There is little comparison between them and a run of the mill retailer. Walmart comes pretty close to Costco for the buyers. Walmart's 3P sellers have the same complaints about Walmart Customer Service as Ebay and Amazon sellers have.
IMO the Internet Marketplace concept may have a limited future.
