Customer service admitted shadow banning me. Listing violation, told just rearrange words in title
Sorry for wall of text, not in good mood. I posted the other day about about getting my 1st listing violation for adult comic books in wrong category(which there were'nt). Noticed my sales plummeted starting on day of violation week and half ago. I have not listed anything til last night. I listed 3 items around 7pm est. 1st 2 showed up right away and had 3 watchers within hour on ny subway sign. 3rd item 2 WWII 1944 calendars signed by B17 crews at 8pm, woke up expected 10 or more watchers and bids....nothing. Item cant be found, 0 views. Called ebay and when I told him its odd that my last item is not visible yet and previous items have views and watchers. I said its like ebay is punishing me by keeping me invisible or buried in search results and he said "yes, they do that". So I asked why the "wrong category" violation for adult comic books, I thought I had them in the right category, he said "you had them in the right category, ebays computer flagged them as counerfeit"...what? He explained that because ebays computers seen several other listings with similar words that mine must be counterfeit. There are 100s of others just like them in same category. You know what he told me to do? Just relist and change the words around in title. There are always comments in ebays favor saying , well, you should have done this or that...its because they are not allowed.. Well ebay customer service just told just told me I did nothing wrong but paying the price.

·2 years agoOTOH, the eBay employees assigned to social media Chats are well trained and have some authority.
They can help steer a member through complex problems.
And you get a transcript so you can see if what you heard was what you were told.

Exactly.
The answer is 42. We just don't know the question.

·2 years agoCustomer service usually knows less than a competent seller knows about the Ebay system.
They are trained only in simple procedures which a seller should do for themself.
If there was a shadow ban, they would not know it.
This is not just Ebay. Support people work from a limited knowledgebase, which usually does not exceed the information in help files on the sites.

·2 years agoCustomer service answers your questions in the way you want to hear.
For example, you told them, "I said its like ebay is punishing me by keeping me invisible or buried in search results" and because of that, they responded with ""yes, they do that."
Instead, had you said, "They don't block sellers making their listings harder to find, do they?" the answer you would have received would have been, "No, of course not!"

·2 years agoYou will most likely actually pay the price if you just modify a title on a listing pulled due to authenticity. If it gets flagged again. Yeah won't be good.

·2 years agoJust as info........War stuff always takes longer to show .........they must check it more carefully.......I have found that true for Civil war and World Wars..........

·2 years agoYou are aware that CS phone reps will agree with ANYTHING you say in order to get you off the phone and move on to another caller, whose statements they will also agree with just to get them off the phone etc, etc, etc?

·2 years agoIf you spoke to phone customer service, you were probably lied to. They are not real eBay employees. They are contract. They lack knowledge and customer service skills and will say whatever necessary to get you off of the phone.
