customer service
What is everyone's thoughts on the customer service here. For the amount of the fees they are collecting I would think they could put up a number we can call. I've have a problem that doesn't fit nicely into their
list of reasons. I think Ebay has become so convoluted that it's hard to find anything. I have also found depending on how you get to a page it can be different. They have gotten too big for their britches.

·3 weeks agoeBay has more than 134 million buyers and more than 17 million sellers. Keep those numbers in mind and then think about what customer service must be like every day. People call eBay about things they don't need to call about because it's all in the policies if they just bother to look. They call eBay because they were supposed to get their package yesterday and didn't. They call eBay because so-and-so sent them a message that was rude. They call eBay about everything under the sun and there is no way anyone could know how to give a correct answer to all of those callers, Add to that that everybody thinks everybody else is trying to scam them. Even the scammers call eBay complaining about their account being suspended. I cannot even imagine all the calls CS agents get that they have no clue what the person is even talking about and there would be no way to train anyone to know every little thing.
As a couple of other people have suggested, post your problem here. You will probably get an answer or some advice that will help you much more than a CS agent will.

·3 weeks ago · EditedNot just eBay. Except for some mom & pop type websites I do business with it's all automated now.
Hopefully the automated help will get better in time but I'm not going to hold my breath on that............................

·3 weeks agoMany sellers seek Ebay assistance with problems which are not Ebay's problem, and the humans at Ebay are not trained to deal with problems which are not Ebay's. They want to help and offer their opinion which is less informed than many newbie sellers, or they agree with the seller to get them off the phone.
All of this is a waste of time and often the seller's money.
For many years. customer service representatives knew virtually nothing, and they relied on searching a knowledgebase for an answer.
Increasingly that knowledgebase search has been automated. as has the decision process on problems which Ebay is involved in deciding.
There is often no one who can be reached who understands the process or has permission to share the unpublished information.
They have gotten to be big enough that they have to play like the big boys.
You can always post your issue here. They may be someone who experienced the same issue and can share what their results were. There will probably be someone who will parse an Ebay policy and offer their prediction. There may be someone who would post the likely interpretation of policy in the 21st centuiry US corporation.
I take my own guess when it is not clear what to do, and usually it is right enough that the buyer and I can avoid any serious dispute. And sometimes I get a demerit from Ebay.
