Customer requesting a refund due to damaged item
Hello, I posted a vintage sewing machine that clearly displayed the model number on it. I posted several pictures of the item so every angle was clearly visable. The customer messaged me asking for a refund stating that they believe this sewing machine is a model no 66 and that the model they wanted does not have a bobbin. Then they stated that the machine was broken in 2 areas, but l packaged this item very carefully and it had a case as well. I'm not sure how to handle this return since the machine is clearly a no 24 and if they didn't want a machine with a bobbin, then it seems like they should have noticed the bobbin in the pictures and not purchased it. How do I contact ebay to figure out how to proceed? And does the shipping provide insurance for damaged items? Thanks.

I can't imagine a buyer re-packing this and shipping it back to you
I kinda think of this as Russian Roulette...
I see a '24' on the item in the photo.
Even though item states there are no refunds...of course there are refunds.
I think the buyer is playing you...trying for a refund from eBay and keeping the item.
I wouldn't do a partial refund since we can clearly see a '24' on the machine.
Do a return sending a return label.
There's a 50-50 chance buyer does nothing.
Buyer does nothing as to returning it to you...don't get charged for return label.
I sell and I can't imagine repacking that and shipping it back to you.
Check buyer feedbacks also to see what they buy and such...one can always get a feeling of a buyer though their feedbacks.
I would just do a return label...and really wouldn't respond to any more buyer's emails.
Buyers do get around 30+ days to return something...so the funds will be on hold if there is an eBay claim.
If there is no eBay claim open...do nothing until there is...and I would respond to buyer either if there is no eBay claim open.

·10 months agoPersonally, I would recommend offering a generous partial refund if the buyer is agreeable to keeping the item for a big discount. Otherwise, just accept a return if it is filed.

·10 months agoI’m sorry but the buyer is right. The machine you sold is a 66, this is what a model 24 looks like:

·10 months agoYou're showing a Free Standing No 24. Seller here sold a Model 24 that came with the Carry Case. It even has the Singer Stamped Plate riveted on the machine itself showing that it's a Model 24.
Buyer is wrong. It is not a Model 66.

·10 months agoYour choices are
1. Offer a partial refund
2. tell them to open a return or accept the return if they already opened one.
3. Tell them no returns accepted, this will end badly if they ask ebay for help.
If they have or do open a not as described return you have no choice other than accept the return.
Talking to ebay will be a complete waste of time.
A insurance claim will be a longshot especially if the package does not show external damage.

·10 months agoYou don't need Ebay for this.
If the buyer has filed an INAD, accept the return and provide a shipping label.
If you want to file an insurance claim, which probably wont pay off:
Ask the buyer for a few pictures of the item and package, then refund the buyer.
Have the buyer hang on to the item and package so it can be inspected.
You file a claim with the carrier.
