Customer doesn't want items that come with the main Item | Selling

A VHS tape? They are interested in a very very old piece of equipment then.

I might , as suggested above, open a listing just for this customer, with an agreed price and shipping, for just the parts he wants.

When I do these I make the Title the customer's eBay ID so no one else is likely to find it.

Give a deadline and use Immediate Payment Required.

If they don't buy, Block them and relist.

A VHS tape indicated to me that the item is over 25 years old, which would be a small market.

Where/how did you find the OP's listing? They appear to be using a forum I.D., not their seller's one.

But I still don't understand HOW you found them? If all it shows here is their new i.d. how did you find their listings. Thanks for the link but it won't help me with the next person.

I just change the ID in the link I get to the one displayed on the boards.

So right now if you click View Listings under their ID, you get this link:

I go in to the listing & revise it when I have buyers like yours.

Change the listing to exactly what the buyer wants, revise pics & description.

Probably a legit request, but my suspicious nature makes me leery -- like what if he then opens an NAD case?

Have never heard of an individual having a defibrillator for home use. Or maybe he has a restaurant and is concerned about customers becoming ill? No, I know my answer is no help.

I'd tell the buyer that ebay requires sellers to ship items as described and to leave out some of the included items wouldn't be allowed. Tell him he can dispose of what he doesn't need.

(IMO, this is the opposite but equivalent type of violation as a buyer who demands something extra that wasn't shown or included in the listing.)

Why would you worry about a NAD? If this was some elaborate scam they would just order as-is and claim NAD. Why go through this trouble?

Who knows why buyers do what they might do? There may not even be a scam involved but we don't know. Maybe the buyer thinks the seller will issue a refund in order to avoid a claim? Maybe the buyer is playing games and will want to return the NAD item?

I don't know what buyers think but I want to do my best to make sure my items are sent "as described." Removing part of the items shown in the listing is making the item NOT as described.

I think in this case sending the item as described is wrong way to go about it if they've requested something specific. You're inviting a neg. I think the only two real options are to do as they asked, or don't sell to them and block.

I would recommend changing the listing or relisting the item rather than letting them buy it with the other items in the listing, but in the end, if they claim Not As Described, it won't really matter much.

That's the reason I said decide on the price first.

Yeah it's really not a lot of trouble. And maybe it's not worth it for breaking up a $19 listing, but for one that is hundreds of dollars? I would probably do it.

Probably someone who already has one or already knows how to operate it. These days you can always find user guides on-line. Buyer probably does not want to pay so much shipping to transport manuals that he does not need and a videotape that he cannot view anyway.

Years ago in my selling account I sold a copy of Adobe FrameMaker software that was something like one or two data CDs holding the actual release and two fat heavy paperbacks of software instructions that the average FrameMaker user already knew anyway. Buyer paid full price but asked if we could just send the software itself for a lower Shipping cost without the two pounds plus of paperback documentation and we said sure. All were happy.

I do agree that you would want to have that request about leaving out the peripheral stuff in writing in Ebay messages just in case. There is also a separate risk that if they are already familiar with such a specialized item then they might be hoping to return their broken one later. It can discourage amateur scammers if you post the serial number in a photo and in the description although it is not useful proof if the buyer does return a different one. Good luck.

I see no problem with that, I have asked for the same when I don't need the extras. Will cut down on the shipping weight and perhaps you can sell the service manual separately. They asked you through eBay messages so there is a record of the request.
