Customer Can't Buy Item I am Selling Because It Says I don't ship to the state of Georgia in the US
Summary: harbocollectibles raised an issue where a customer couldn't purchase an item due to an error message claiming non-shipment to Georgia. Many contributors speculated it might be a misunderstanding with the country of Georgia, but harbocollectibles confirmed it was indeed the U.S. state. Various suggestions were offered, such as ensuring correct item dimensions and shipping settings. harbocollectibles later confirmed the issue was resolved by correcting the package size setup. The discussion also touched on how eBay's error messages can be misleading in such contexts.
I figured I would ask here first before I wait on hold forever with eBay. Does anyone else have an issue where a customer says they can't buy something because it states you won't ship to where they live? In this case it's the state of Georgia. I looked all the possibilities including it thinking I am shipping to a foreign country that I don't allow, but nothing has worked.
Any help would be appreciated.

OP4 days agoAll, thanks for your input and feedback. It was the package size (and where none existed at all). I am good now. Thanks for the fast responses.

You have twenty or so listings that have no shipping amount specified when viewed in search results -- possibly this is due to using incorrect dimensions for the shipping method you have chosen.
Use this link, then scroll to the end of the search results to see the items without shipping:

·4 days ago · EditedeBay has an awkward way of informing a buyer that the seller hasn’t specified a valid shipping method to their location. Where no service is selected by the seller or when the service is incompatible with the weight or dimensions of the item (as in this case), eBay strangely notifies the buyer that the seller doesn’t ship to their location. In fact, the way the seller has shipping set up, they can’t get the item to any location. But eBay’s messaging just leads both parties away from the actual source of the problem.

·4 days agoeBay certain has some error messages that are opaque to the point of being entirely misleading.
Not the oddest error message I have seen, though:

·4 days agoThe real tragedy was that the OP posted that in the most accurate (and obscure) sub-forum, so most of us missed out on the hilarity at the time. Thank you for curating it. That's right up there with 'Ducks!' and the bacon fishing bait post.

OP4 days agoI have the weight and size. I sell a lot of sports cards and the shipping is the same for almost all and others have purchased.

·5 days agoMake sure that your listing has the weight and size of the package. If you have calculated shipping, ebay can't give prices for postage if they are missing. It will give you an error message. Maybe that's the problem?

·5 days agoThis is peculiar. It'd make sense if it were the country of Georgia, but it's specifically saying the state?
Could we see some screenshots?

have an obscure or nearly impossible problem, that
he (The buyer) is leading up to some mischief.

·4 days ago@harbocollectibles It is likely what others are saying and that they are in the Country of Georgia, not the US state of Georgia.
The only other reasons this may happen is if you have the buyer blocked for some reason OR the item being sold is not allowed in the state they live in. Some state laws prohibit certain things from being sold and ship into their state. Unlikely to be a card, but some other things that could cause this for other sellers.
