Custom duty
Summary: sth4sale is facing issues with a package sent to a buyer in Germany, which is marked as 'undeliverable' by DHL. There's a suspicion that the buyer may have refused to pay import duties, leading to the delivery problem. inhawaii suggests using ebay international shipping (EIS) in the future to avoid such issues, whereas janet9988 mentions it's the buyer's responsibility to receive the package. However, sth4sale is concerned because eBay has refunded the buyer and charged them $770. kensgiftshop notes that undeliverable packages should be returned, but sth4sale highlights more complexities with the package's current status. dhbookds advises reaching out to DHL for more information.
Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a bind and could use some advice.
I sold an item to a buyer in Germany, but it never arrived, and now it’s becoming a huge headache. According to the latest DHL tracking update, the package is "undeliverable."
I suspect the buyer might have refused to pay the import duties, which caused the delivery to fail, but I’m not 100% sure.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation in Germany? How can I find out the exact reason for the failed delivery? Is there a way to track the current status more accurately, or should I just start the process of having it returned to me?
Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

OP3 months agoThe package went from the US to Switzerland, then to Germany, but then it got sent back to Switzerland from German customs and it hasn't updated since

·3 months agoMy advice:
Next time use EIS (ebay international shipping).
If you had used EIS you wouldn't have this problem.
Once your package gets to the EIS US hub, ebay takes care of the rest no matter what happens.

OP3 months agoHow can I use EIS? There is no EIS under my international shipping options! Should I register for EIS?
