·2 years agoI sure wouldn't have put the Ole Miss comment on a public board.........but privately, it would have been a typical exchange between LSU/Ole Miss football rivals........meant to be ribbing...... You should hear Ole Miss/Ala rivals go at it. from one who has lived in both MS & LA.......and known the mindsets of the alumni from both schools.....

·2 years agoAgreed. Not publicly. And I live in the middle of UT Vols country, so I understand every word you did and didn't say. 😉

·2 years agoI wonder if the guy leaving the illiterate threat knows that the angry OP also has his address.

·2 years agoUnless I'm missing something here, this seems very silly to me; And over such an unremarkable item ... Ever hear of "taking the high road".? One never knows what others might do, when pushesd too far. Things being, as they are today, I would certainly not advise poking anyone's "bear'. It just isn't worth it.

·2 years agoYour reply to that feedback makes YOU look really bad, not the buyer.
I would never buy anything from you after seeing that.
Yes, I would consider that threat.
Just my opinion, but I would suggest taking it like a man, blocking the buyer, and moving on.

·2 years agoAs a buyer interested in buying something from a seller, when I check their feedback and see the kind of response you left to your buyer, I just hit back on my browser. The feedback you leave for others reflects a lot on you. How you respond to feedback and your explanation for the buyer's gripe goes a long way to assuring potential buyers why they are safe buying from you.
First of all, you got a positive. No need to respond to it. Yes, the threat the buyer sent to you is horrible and should be condemned. But your response to his feedback is what triggered him.

·2 years agoJust move on and block the person.
I have been threatened as well in the past and nothing ever happens.
Calling customer service won't help.

·2 years agoTotally off topic, and regarding another sale... but why did you leave the Ole Miss fan (who paid dearly for that yearbook and left good feedback for you) their feedback?

·2 years agoThe O.P.'s listing does have the description (item specifics) of the card along with photos. Not sure why the buyer left a positive with a little of a negative comment. They bought the card, so that tells me they knew what they were looking for and bought. The buyer could have sent questions about the card before buying.
The seller could have just bit their tongue and moved on. The comment will show as positive in your numbers and does not hurt your feedback %. People are more interested in reading negative & neutral comments on a member before dealing with them.
Curious what other comments this buyer leaves for other sellers. The O.P.'s positive / negative left for buyer mentions that the buyer likes to complain. I assume that is from reading the buyers feedback left for others.
Overall. I would report this buyer to eBay and block just to be safe and for eBay's record. If the buyer actually sent that message, it will be seen by eBay.
The buyer seems to have a hot / quick temper if they actually said all that but surely, they know that the seller, eBay, and their payment institution also have their address and information.
"when i get a buyer/Karen who leaves me a positive yet does nothing but complain, when i leave their positive, i make it as negative as i can w/o being offensive........"
And now the poor whiney victim of threats go figure......

·2 years agoJust a general comment on my reaction.
I love when OPs make a post like this because it exposes them either as a great, responsive seller with whom I'd be happy to do business or a rude, defensive one who goes on the attack. It also cements my decision on whether I'd want to do business (either as a buyer OR seller) with that person.
@lsugoat
Your reply to his feedback reflects waaaaayyyy worse on you than on him! And your feedback left for the buyer is not only immature and unprofessional but it violates ebay's feedback policy.
You sold a NAD item and it's too bad the buyer didn't open a return request for a refund and return at your expense.
I'm curious - Was that message from the buyer?
BTW, are you aware that reporting that message will draw attention to the fact that you left disallowed feedback AND sold a NAD item! (Ebay will look at those things when you report.) You're going to do more damage to your own account than to the buyer's.

·2 years agoMake love not war. Give peace a chance.
Me, I’d just apologize for my previous ride behavior and move on. Absolutely, your buyer has no right to make threats, but I think that a simple apology would suffice. You did start this nonsense.

·2 years agocontact law enforcement, press charges for the threats. You can report them to ebay, but ebay probably wont do much about it, other than give them a temporary suspension.

·2 years agoWhile the cop in me would love to arrest this guy for making criminal threats, which is a pretty serious crime now in most states. He is facing jail time, especially if he already has a criminal history.
However, the business man in me thinks its best to just apologize for your comments and see what his response is to that...then if he continues to make death threats to you will have even more evidence against him.
If you do press charges, be sure to get an order of protection...very important.

·2 years agoYour reply to the buyer was insulting and totally out of line. He didn't insult you in the feedback he left for you and even left you a positive. For a $1.99 item? What have you gained by your reply?
you lost the buyer as a potential repeat customer, other potential buyers may read your reply and be so put off by it, that you may lose potential business from others also.
The feedback didn't even call for a reply, but if you felt like you needed to reply, something like, "I'm sorry you were unhappy with your purchase and didn't understand it was a chronicles card. It was stated in the listing". A reply like that was all that needed to be said.
Had it been my listing, even though the card was listed correctly, for $1.99 I may have told the buyer I would refund the purchase price to him and let him keep the card. By doing that, the buyer would possibly become a very good repeat customer. It's called good business sense, and a small price to pay to keep a good customer.
Reply, when needed to be left, which is very rarely, should be left on the topic of the item, and not be insulting to your buyer. A reply like that doesn't reflect badly on the buyer, it looks bad for the seller.
Also, you left him a feedback with a negative comment, which is against ebay policy.

Send him the time and place.
He sounds like a typical keyboard warrior.

·2 years agoWhy did you attack them with insults like that when they gave you a positive and did not insult you. This is one of the strangest posts I've seen.

·2 years agoI'll never understand why anyone replys to feedback regardless if it's a negative or not. It makes zero sense and does nothing for you to reply to feedback. Had you would've said nothing at all, you would've been totally fine but ya did so here we are.
You brought this on yourself, now fix it.

Sorry you experienced this situation. In the future instead of displaying similar somewhat immature behavior and comments, just state the facts professionally. Don't bring yourself down to their level. If you feel that this person is a threat to you, which I doubt (just another thumb thug who talks the talk) contact the authorities and file a complaint.

·2 years agoA better reply to that feedback might have been something like 'Card was identified as Black series in the listing title AND in the listing description AND in the photos'.
Buyer is a complete bonehead of course but a factual reply instead of namecalling would have cemented whose fault it clearly was.

·2 years agoI am suprised that you felt the need to insult him over a $1.99 card that, even though disappointed, he gave you positive feedback for. Guessing many buyers would have floated right by the comment, being positive.
I do not think eBay will do anything except, perhaps, recommend you call the police if you feel threatened. Guessing the police, depending on size of the city where he lives, wouldn't have time to do much either once the situation was explained. I think some jurisdictions might still have online reporting, if you feel that's necessary?
downunder-61
·2 years agoYou are also breaking eBay rules regarding false positive feedback for buyer's.
As to the 'threat' you know where the buyer lives, call the police.
richard1rst
·2 years agoWell, if this is response to both your insulting feedback response and the equally insulting feedback you left for the 2023 Will Levis black rookie card I would have to say you brought it on yourself.
If you don't like getting nasty notes do not leave them for others.
Turnabout and all that.
lsugoat
OP2 years agoNasty note? He initially brought it on himself. and where did i say id show up at his place and end him?

·2 years agoYour feedback & reply aren't "false" but they are "wrong".
First, your buyer isn't the brightest bulb in the box. Ok? They left you an unfair (positive) feedback. Positive feedbacks w/ less than great comments get EASILY buried. Get a handful more (+)s and it'll be gone where few if any will ever see it. Neutrals and Negatives are effectively flagged for everyone to see. In this case, you leaving a reply draws MORE attention to the feedback you rather not have buyers read to begin with. So you should never have replied. That was a (minor) mistake
Next, you decided to make your reply & feedback ...."not so nice"....Those were your next mistakes. There is a very easy way to handle this. Reply something like "Sorry you feel that way and wish you had contacted me prior to leaving feedback. This was clearly noted in the description and is visible on the back of the card in Pic #2. Buyers are expected to review the description and all images prior to purchasing." You couldve left no feedback or a basic feedback. You decided to go further in insulting the buyer.
These not only P*** off that buyer and rile them up, but also makes you look extremely unprofessional to future buyers. A good rule of thumb is that buyers leave feedback with past transactions in mind, but sellers leave replies & feedbacks with FUTURE transactions in mind.
EVERY feedback and reply you leave, you should be focused on FUTURE transactions. What future transactions? All those potential buyers READING your feedback & replies. When I write a reply to a buyer's feedback, my intended audience is not THAT buyer ... it's ALL the other prospective buyers reading my reply. Do you think what you wrote inspires confidence in all your future prospective buyers?
Ok, so you shouldn't have replied at all, and shouldn't have written what you wrote. He left you feedback that shows a lot about him, you cranked the heat up in your reply, and then they took it to a WHOLE other level. Both of you are still wrong.
Lastly ... one really BIG consideration you should make ... get a blessed PO box. I think ANYONE who does ANY sort of regular EBay selling should have a PO Box. You can rent the SMALLEST box they have, my payment works out to $15/month and I'm in a high priced "competitive market" in the suburbs of Chicago. Most PO boxes are cheaper across the country.
A PO Box gives you a level of anonymity ... also, your RETURN ADDRESS NAME should be your COMPANY NAME or EBAY USERNAME.
NO one I sell to on EBay has my home address or real name. That is the way it should be. Privacy, anonymity & self-protection are PRICELESS.
If I got that message from a buyer, I would have laughed and then reported, laughed though because they will be walking up to the front door of a Post Officd that I don't frequent often. I ship primarily from 2 other Post Offices.
Be smart in your replies & feedbacks. They reflect upon you. People read that, prospective buyers won't like it.
Thanks for the laughs though..
Editted to add: It's sad that this all transpired over a $1.99 transaction. What's more sad is, people have been harmed over less. I hope it was worth it, to both you & buyer
