Country of Origen?
Is anyone else seeing this error when end/sell similar? It has to do with duties and tariffs for international shipping. Can it be ignored, or do I need to go back in and manually change each listing to the country of Origen?

·8 months agoI am seeing that if you don't fill in the origin it is automatically populating the field!
I have vintage items that were no way shape or form made in China that now say they were made in China.
I have new items that were made in China that now say they were made in the USA.
I have been entering new listing for two days with problems. If the origin is not entered when listing it is automatically picking a country of origin.
When I went back into the listings I noticed that the system had picked CHINA, USA and UK indiscriminately. And they were probably wrong!
All the items that I just bulk end/sell similar showed the error. I ignored it. I submitted them.
I went back into the four listings that had no origin before and they all say USA now for the origin.
This is a large problem for me anyway. Sometimes the origin is not known but people who want vintage jewelry do not want to see a made in China on the origin! If you deal with old jewelry it could come from China but more likely it comes from Europe or the USA. New jewelry who cares, China all day long.
In addition - for EIS orders, how fair is it to have a wrong country of origin and have the tariff ramifications. This was mentioned before, I am just mentioning it again.
I think this a HUGE problem.

·8 months agoUnless it is required for the category, you do not have to fill it out. So far it appears the only consequence for not filling it out is the item may not be displayed to certain international buyers. It does not prevent items from being seen by U.S buyers. eBay, to my knowledge, is not pulling listings because of it. I sell a lot of vintage items and I often do not know where an item was manufactured. I'd rather not put anything then to guess.

·8 months agoBelow is EBAY policy regarding Country of Origin.
Country of Origin (Country/Region of Manufacture or "COO") is the country or territory where the finished item was manufactured, produced, or grown – not where it ships from. This is used to determine duties, taxes, and import fees and is required for international shipments. For certain eBay shipping programs, including but not limited to eBay International Shipping, SpeedPAK DE, and Global Shipping Programme, eBay may select or amend the COO. You are ultimately responsible for confirming an item's Country of Origin/Region of Manufacture in your listing, and maintaining any required certificate of origin.
