"Congrats—you made your first sale with ads"
When I look at my orders page, at the top eBay has added "Congrats—you made your first sale with ads". I have 157 listings right now, and only have 4 promoted listings. None of the promoted listings sold.
Question: Why am I seeing this statement?

I’m being cautiously optimistic since the June 6th money grab where PLs were taken out months later. Believe the only way to know whether something is working or not, is to give it time. We can all only go off of our own personal experiences. BTW ~ I’m envious of your sunny bright wonderful photos! 🤗

·1 year ago@pgh_pen Is the banner kind of like this one? If it is, then it's really terrible word choice on a marketing banner; it's not alerting you to an ad fee on a sold item. I wouldn't worry about it unless you see ad fees appear on your payment transactions page.
I found this banner on the My eBay > Overview page for my forum posting ID which is not used for selling.
FYI @devon@ebay . Seems there are a couple of marketing banners with poor/confusing word choice specific to the My eBay pages. One in screenshot above. OP is describing a similar one with slightly different wording on their orders page.

This is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

If this were true in eBay being “all knowing†… then wouldn’t that mean, within all my 60ish sales over the last couple of weeks of ending promotions and doing an end/sell similar on all of my items, I would’ve had promoted charges somewhere in the mix?
I haven’t had one promoted charge since the morning of June 18th, the day I stopped promoting.

·1 year ago@kickin.assets I would think so. If you're not seeing those & you're seeing the counts be what you're expecting, it probably works the way you think. It's just surprising, that's all. I mean, there's no way eBay isn't taking the PL ad rate, so I'd say you're good.

You are correct in the halo thing ... if you just end a promotion, it's not the same as an item that's never been promoted. I was in the same boat as you, whereas the halo wasn't something that really happened all that often, but it still did. Not sure what is going on with OP and others today or the clicks I've had in last couple days. It's concerning if items never promoted are suddenly being sold as "promoted" or even if it's some sly campaign to try and get people to promote? I don't like it! Lol

Yes. Last year I did this a couple times, taking a “break†from promoted … don’t ask me why I ever went back to promoted … I plead temporary insanity! 🤣
From my experience and knowledge, items that are “new†whether that be via brand new or done under sell similar, are given a new item number AND that have never been promoted, should never be recognized as promoted. This of course is a work in progress and it’s only been just over two weeks since I hopped off that promoted hamster wheel.
Though my sales have slowed, maybe partially due to ending promotions, but more than likely its due to this being my slow season; every one of my sales in last 15/16 days have ONLY had normal fees, no promotions. So I’d have to say that the above stated rings true.
If I’m wrong … I know someone will come along and correct me … but I can only report my experience thus far ðŸ˜

·1 year agoThanks @kickin.assets I don't know if you're wrong, that's why I'm asking. I would be shocked if it's that easy, but based on what you shared of your numbers that they are wanting you to promote, it does *seem* like they aren't counted, but I don't think they're counted if I end a promotion & the items are still up either. In other words, the 30 days still applies, but I think the item is technically NOT promoted. Honestly I don't pay close enough attention & I rarely stop promoting for long. The halo sales never figured into much of my sales, I used to check them & I'd get on average 1 a month, so it just wasn't a big enough deal for me to worry about.
I think you're slowdown is likely a combo of the 2 things you've mentioned. First few weeks of Summer are brutal & I always sell less when I'm not promoting. My sales have finally picked up in the last few days, but the first 2 weeks of Summer, they were few & far between, even though everything was still promoted.

Yes, all of my items were ended and are “new†fresh listings with absolutely no promotions.
Sooo … Not sure why the clicks. 🤔 Of course there’s user error and I could’ve missed an item? That’s definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. With that said though, the banner I see every day now asking me to promote my 2100 listings, matches the listings that are now all “new†and yes, not promoted.
Just another fun filled day on eBay! 🤣

·1 year ago@kickin.assets So I'm curious have you done this before? Have you confirmed that if you end the items & Sell Similar, that the 30 day thing ceases to exist? That it's treated as an entirely new listing for PL purposes? It seems so based on the number in the message you're getting. This just surprises me if it works that way.

·1 year agoI would be surprised if ebay doesnt know that they are our own items when we "sell similar". I don't know for sure, but I suspect eBay applies those PL fees for 30 day on our own "sell similar" items. If they didn't, that would be a loop hole I'm sure they would want to close. If we "sell similar" off of someone else's listing, then it would be a new listing as far as any PL go.

·1 year ago@ryry-jj That's exactly why I was asking. Otherwise it just seems to easy of a way to get around it. Also, I have long-believed that eBay still knows that they are essentially relists when at item is done as a Sell Similar. I've even had it confirmed, although not outright, but eBay staff. It was answered in a 'read between my lines' sorta way, but really it just confirmed what I already had observed for years.

I ended all my promotions more than two weeks ago and have since ended and did a sell similar on all of my items as to not have any get caught up in the halo garbage.
Under my advertising tile in seller hub, clicks had zeroed out about a week ago, as expected. A few days ago, I started seeing clicks there again. 🤔 Hello? Why? Nothing is promoted.
All my items show as newly listed within the last 7 days with 0 promotions!
As @simply-the-best-for-you stated, you are not the only one.

·1 year ago@kickin.assets Well even if you end the promo, the ad applies 30 days forward if someone bought via the ad, which I'm sure you know. IDK what happens if you ended the item though. It seems like that would be too easy of a way to get around it, but I could be wrong.
