Confusion over an order I had to cancel
I just cancelled an order because the buyer says he had the wrong "ship to" address.
I’m having it relisted so he can buy it again and ship to the correct address.
I’m just confused about this message on the cancellation page.
The cancelled order was for a total of $100.64
The form from eBay says:
Total refund: $100.64
Refund summary:
Shipping: $5.64
Purchase price: $95.00
Fee credits: -$16.72 (Final Value Fee 16.32 + .40 Per Order Fixed Amount)
Amount You Owe: $83.92
That last line is what confuses me. I owe something?? To whom?
Isn’t the whole thing voided and we’re back to zero?

OP10 months agoMe again...maybe it's just their weird language that creeped me out.
Now it tells me the order was successfully cancelled and relisted, the $83.92 was "deducted from available funds" and my "Outstanding amount due" is $0.00

When you cancel an order it is not voided since the payment has been accepted and is processing. eBay credits you back the parts of the payment they keep/handle (fees, taxes) and your account is responsible for the net amount. If the cancellation happens before the net funds clear and are paid to you it will come from your available funds. If your net funds have already been paid out the refund comes from any available funds you may have. If there are not enough there then the refund will be taken from your backup payment method (bank account, card, etc.)

·10 months agoRight, if you have the avaliable funds, the refund would come from them, first.
If you didn't have the avaliable funds, you would have to provide a funding source to cover the refund.
When the buyers payment become avaliable, those funds would be sent to you.
