Completing a Local Pickup Sale
I have a basic store and offer "local pickup" as an option on many of my auctions. I had a recent sale where the buyer lives close so local pickup was the best option. We met at an agreed location with the funds and item being exchanged at that time. I've read several threads on local pickup but am still puzzled. If I now mark the item "payment received" the only other available option after doing that would be to mark "item shipped" which then requires a tracking number. This is obviously not correct. How do I complete the transaction by letting eBay know that the item was picked up by the seller and funds were exchanged at that time? Thank you!

·3 years agoCould be if both local pickup and shipping are offered in the listing and choses local pickup, they have to pay through eBay then will get the code to give to you. Maybe for the buyer to get the code and you receive payment on pickup, you have to only offer that service, local pickup.
Don't see why there would be a difference between store and non-store seller when it comes to local pickup. Many store sellers operate out of a spare room in their house so would not be set up for local pickup anymore then a non-store seller and for most, local pickup would not be part of the normal operation.

The buyer should have received a QR code in which they show you and you scan it with your phone, it will then state delivered.

·3 years agoIf the item is not listed with local pickup as an option in the first place, the QR code is not generated when the buyer goes to check out, only shipping. Generating an invoice seem to be a workaround.

OP3 years agoThe exchange (money for item) has been made. How (or when) does the buyer receive the QR code? Do I need to go back to the auction and mark "payment received" for him to get the code? Should he have done something on his end before picking up the item? Thanks!

OP3 years agoI have not marked the item as "payment received" as of yet. Even though money and product have been exchanged I asked the seller to go through checkout and choose local pickup to see if somehow we could get a QR code. He states "all it does is remove the shipping cost and still makes me pay via credit card or PayPal". This is ridiculous! At this juncture should I mark the auction as "payment received" and "item delivered" and get dinged for not having a tracking number?

·3 years agoThe QR code if for the benefit of the seller when a buyer pays prior to pickup, if the buyer is paying cash at pickup you have no need for it. Just mark as paid once the exchange is done.

I believe you should have change the shipping on your end to local pickup then ebay would have generated a QR code to buyer for you to scan.
I just did a local pickup earlier this month but I paid thru the ebay app.
Please follow poster @redmodelt advice as they also have been thru this recently.

·3 years agoJust went through this with an item that was not listed with local pickup as a buyer. The seller sent me a corrected invoice with shipping 0'ed out. The buyer can then pay the invoice through eBay and will receive a code that they can give to you, you the seller, enter that code to show it has been picked up.
When I received the invoice, it had been changed to local pickup and once I paid, received the pickup code, so there must be a way to mark the invoice you send changing it to local pickup.

·3 years agoHere's an eBay help page for you to read. It explains all about local pickup transactions and should have all the information to answer your questions.
Offering local pickup

OP3 years agoIn the first sentence it is stated under "Adding Local Pickup to Your Listing" for the seller to simply select No shipping: Local pickup only. My listings are not set up this way as I'm sure is the same with many other sellers. I make local pickup an OPTION along with traditional shipping methods. I've never seen a Pay on pickup option either. I have a basic eBay store and when I list items I have the option to add local pickup which I many times do. It's just a Yes or No. I believe the listing format is different with a store versus not having a store. Maybe that's where my problem arises. Sorry, but I'm still perplexed.
